Foles has always seemed to star when the back up and been extra ordinarily MEH when given starting duties. Jags obviously desperate to win now. I think Rosen would have been a better option myself.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

Honestly don't think that's a bad deal for JAX. Like it better than the one Cousins got in MIN.
Not saying it's a great deal, but ,for a team that had Super Bowl aspirations hamstrung by bad QB play, they didn't have a lot of options with their window closing. None of the QBs in this draft look like day one starters without a lot of growing pains.

The 49ers spent plenty of money on the offensive side of the ball last year. This year, they’re getting started with the defense. Per a league source, the 49ers will sign former Bucs linebacker Kwon Alexander when the free-agency signing period opens on Wednesday. Alexander will receive $54 million over four years, with $27 million in rolling guarantees. He’ll make $13.5 million per year, a new high-water mark for inside linebackers. Alexander is recovering from a torn ACL suffered last October. The top two players paid by the 49ers last year — quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and running back Jerick McKinnon — also are recovering from torn ACLs. A four-year starter in Tampa, Alexander has 46 starts with the Bucs. He made it to the Pro Bowl in 2017. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/03/11/kwon-alexander-will-sign-with-the-49ers/

Bradley Roby drawing interest from several teams Posted by Charean Williams on March 11, 2019, 5:03 PM EDT Broncos cornerback Bradley Roby has found a healthy free agent market. He is generating interest from several teams, including the Texans, Browns, Steelers, 49ers and Raiders, James Palmer of NFL Media reports. The Broncos have interest in signing him back and remain in the picture, but once a player hits free agency, the odds generally decrease. Roby made 50 tackles, an interception and forced two fumbles in 15 starts last season. Roby, 26, has spent all five of his NFL seasons in Denver after the Broncos made him the 31st overall pick in the 2014 draft.

Vacarro did an excellent job for them, I remember hearing a blurb on how awful their defense was when he missed 3 games...Good signing for them...I think his last year healthy with the Saints he had the top nickel defense per PFF...Going to be a lot of safeties going a lot of places this year.

Roby really shined in the nickel position for them, play went down when he stepped in as their #2...He would instantly come in here and lock one of those spots down along with Carrie and Mitchell.

None of the QBs in this draft look like day one starters without a lot of growing pains. Except they had to cut a bunch of their defense to be able to sign Foles. And they reason they had to cut a bunch of their defense is they re-signed Blake Bortles to a crazy contract. And they drafted a running back fourth overall instead of taking a QB. Foles will now be the fifth highest paid player in the league by guaranteed money. Would you rather have Nick Foles for $50 million guaranteed or Tyrod Taylor for whatever he is going to make? Or Ryan Fitzpatrick? Or Teddy Bridgewater? Or trade for Josh Rosen?

Going to be odd not seeing him in Purple, though I'm glad he's moving out of the division...He has terrorized us for over a decade.

I think there were multiple deals way more shocking and laughable that the report about Foles. I'd pay him before I would ever pay some of the other guys that got absurd contracts today.

I was hoping the Browns would make a key signing or two today, but the amount of money being handed out is beyond stupid.

Crazy money being dished out today. I suppose. That is how it now works. Rather than give a rookie Crazy money, we now give it to players who have become proven producers. If you want to sign some of them, you have to give old time first round draft pick money to these guys. Structure is more important than the number. If you have the room, pay it out early to allow a soft landing when the time comes.

I believe in spending, especially when you have good players at impact positions on their rookie deals.
However, this year is about giving average players elite money.
I don't believe in being cheap, but it is worse to spend foolishly.

these numbers are crazy this year. 3-year contract for 36 yards and 4 catches in 5 games?
Blocking those who argue to argue, eliminates the argument.

There are still a bunch of players out there and Dorsey is secretive. Last year as soon as the new league year opened we had an avalanche of moves. I anticipate something similar this year.

I'm glad we've not jumped into the fray so far. Being the first, to pay the most, just isn't worth the cap hell later on. Do it the Patriot way, if after their first contact period they want too much to stay, let'em walk and get your compensatory picks and next man up.

Exactly what I'm thinking. Your other post was spot on too. If you're overpaying - keep the bulk of it within two years and front load anything you can. The way things are looking, with the bar that's being set, "overpaying" may be a fact of life, for a player that fills a true need, that's fine if you're creative... hopefully "silly season" is over soon though.

This is insane money.
Landry and Vernon are starting to look cheap by comparison.
Seriously, 9 mill a year is the new rate for a nickel corner? Are these owners just expecting the CBA to not be renewed after 2020?
People ask me what I do in spring when there's no football. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for fall

My eye is on Mosley.
IMO. He is going to get paid and I hope we pay him.
The other is WR. Perriman or Williams. Both fit the length and speed I think Dorsey is looking for.
If we get them both it sets up the draft for DT or corner.
Have seen Greedy?
