I swear...if I see another report about a frickin' safety getting 14 million a year..

Holy Mary, Mother of...

What is happening? These contracts had better have the most ridiculous escalator clauses in them.

Report: Ravens up offer to C.J. Mosley, but still trail others
Posted by Josh Alper on March 11, 2019, 7:29 PM EDT

Linebacker C.J. Mosley is one of three players on our list of the top 100 free agents who has not agreed to a deal with a new team or been franchise tagged by his current team and the Ravens are reportedly working to keep him from leaving Baltimore.

Jeff Zrebiec of TheAthletic.com reports that the Ravens have “sweetened” their offer to Mosley over the course of the day. They may need more sugar in order to bring it home, though.

Zrebiec reports that the offer still lags behind what other teams have put on the table. The report specifically names the Jets as a team that has made a higher bid for Mosley and leaves open the possibility that other teams are also topping Baltimore’s latest offer.

Earlier reports on Monday named Washington, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Detroit and Philadelphia as other interested parties.

Mathieu is a little bit of a different case because he is so versatile (plus he is said to be a great leader). I still wouldn’t want to pay him that much.

I'm serious, man.

The franchise tag for safeties this year "was" 11.2 million. It's about to go up 3 million in one day

I think when free agency is happening it is like "limited time offer call now".

Mosley was a great college player. He has been outstanding in his first 4 years as a pro.

It is only because of the Ravens cap space that he was not signed or franchised.

He is going to get the money but this guy could really help us. He is difference maker on defense.

Id almost rather us do nothing in FA if these are the kinds of contracts being thrown around... i can't think of single player that got what his production level says he should. we'd be better off trying to trade some of our draft capital on proven guys

This is just ridiculous... and another reason I do not expect us to make big splashes, because these are crazy cannonball splashes.

There's a DT from the Cards and a TE from the Chiefs that I expect us to look at. Athletic TE that had low numbers because he was behind Kelce. Should be able to take Fells' spot easily. The DT isn't a huge pressure guy, but super stout against the run and should be familiar with our DC.

Of course he does.

You act like two years ago he wanted to retire from football because he wasn't enjoying it or something.

Some thoughts:

--I have always had a problem w/qbs who are not accurate or process information quickly.

--Likewise, I have a problem w/receivers who can't catch or RBs who have poor vision.

--I have a big problem w/DBs who can't cover. The deals for guys like Collins and Mathieu are absurd.

--Final thought. We better draft a FS. Randall will be gone as soon as he can. Dude is a head case and no way will he stay here for a fair contract. He'll be out to be break the bank. That's his right. It's also our right to start looking for his replacement.

They're seeing all these mid eight-figure contracts and thinking #metoo.

Not worth it...but then again, I seldom think anyone is.

Williams? Maybe not to much. Mosley yes.

I want both. But it is not my money.

I was listening to moving the chains on my drive home today and Pat Kirwin said he thought Williams would end up signing for $10-12 million/year

Idk Vers... Randall reps Cleveland pretty hard. I actually follow him on Twitter. He makes it pretty clear he wants to stay.

Wow. Interesting.

In some free agent rankings he was way down the list.

Does he want to stay or does he see our cap room? Could be both, I suppose.

The Colts will sign Funchess to a one-year deal worth a max of $13 million, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Monday.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001...-for-1year-deal

44 catches for 549 yards last year... in 14 games

Perriman 16 for 340 yards. in 10 (really less than 10)

Perriman will be getting north of 10 million at this point.

Great that takes them out of Mosley.

That leaves us and the Colts. Tough they have a bunch of money.

He turned down an offer from Baltimore earlier.

Sounds like Bell is torn between the Jets and Raiders possibly Philly

If he doesnt decide, the Jets will get mosley and Bell will get a smaller contract.

Yep, gotta guess Williams is in the 10-12m/yr range and Mosely 11-13/yr range. Though with the deals we're seeing already, those might be low.

He has no specific ties to Cleveland, having grown up in Texas and playing in Columbus. And I don't believe any of his college teammates are on the team. If he's tight with Denzel, we may have an advantage. Team on the rise is an advantage.

From our perspective, I don't see why we wouldn't have interest - though he'll be a pretty penny - what does a starting CB run these days - maybe 13 or 14m/year (unless he'll play nickle, then lower)?

Raiders agreed to terms with S Lamarcus Joyner, formerly of the Rams, on a four-year contract.

Joyner played on the Rams' franchise tag last season after a breakout 2017 campaign. His impact was barely felt in 2018, however, as fellow S John Johnson seemed to outplay Joyner every step of the way. The Rams seemed to have zero interest in bringing Joyner back, instead pouncing on Eric Weddle as his replacement. Joyner does have playmaker skills and versatility, having played deep safety and nickel corner in the pros. He even played some dime linebacker in college at Florida State. Joyner will slide in next to former first-round S Karl Joseph in Oakland.

Broncos agreed to terms with DB Kareem Jackson, formerly of the Texans, on a three-year contract.

Jackson, 31 next month, is another key member of the Texans' defensive backfield bolting town, after CB Kevin Johnson signed with the Bills and Tyrann Mathieu the Chiefs earlier Monday. Jackson has experience playing outside corner, nickel corner, and free safety. He has plenty of versatility but is probably ticketed for safety in Denver. Jackson had a huge game in Denver last season, which probably led to the Broncos liking him even more.
