It would not surprise me if the Browns didn't give Hicks a good look.
He is a pretty good player and only 26.
He should be a consideration.

I don't know a thing about Hicks, but every time I see a new thread added to this forum, my first thought is...........What did Dorsey do now?

I remember Hicks at Texas, off the top off my head...I remember him being a great athlete, very quick with good diagnostic skills...More of a cover guy (If I remember right I think he was once a safety maybe in high school...As I was watching Carringtom Byndom and Vacarro at Texas) He had injuries, then more as an Eagle...But I know he did very well in coverage, and he pursues well...Despite his injuries, he will probably get a fat contract from someone.

He should be a consideration. He is an Ohio boy (West Chester) so he might have an interest in playing closer to home. PFF had him rated as the 10th best LB last year. The only thing is he plays MLB so either he or Schobert would have to move.

His first couple seasons were at will. He would kick Kirksey most likely Then again, Kirksey was better as a MLB, too

Now that CJ is gone Hicks would be a good option.
He is still young and is solid player.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Boston is far to the left as KC settles into the slot. Fannin is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Sampson are split in the backfield as the ball is hiked ... Here we go."

Is he better than Kirksey?

I would love a Hicks/Houston pair, that would complete a very nice offseason.

I don't think LB is the spot to break the bank at in FA. (Says the guy willing to spend 12M on Alexander, I know) But some of these deals have been wild. Sub-10M I might go Hicks, but I think I'd be out on LBs this FA cycle (Frontline, at least)

LB is the weakest spot in the draft. You have to upgrade via FA if you need to.. Hicks would be a good one

Well right now we got Kirksey back at Will. Schobert who was ranked by PFF as the 4th best LB in the NFL...at MIKE and I believe AVERY is taking over as SAM. I am ASSuming Vernon although he played well at OLB last season considering it was his first stab at it. Not sure if we are going with Vernon as our SAM. ???

Vernon is putting his hand in the dirt. he was OLB last year...but in a 3-4. Everything I am hearing is that we are placing him at his more natural DE...
I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken...

Sub-10M I might go Hicks, but I think I'd be out on LBs this FA cycle (Frontline, at least) Especially when we are already paying Kirksey $8.2M this year (or $10.6M if we cut him, we would have about $4M if we trade him). I think people are forgetting that teams only play two linebackers.

I doubt we see Avery very much at linebacker at all. He's a pass rusher.

yeah that is what I thought Pete...just put that out there only cause he actually transitioned pretty well at OLB.
But 90% thinking is 3 point DE for us. Besides I really liked Avery in all aspects. He covered well and progressed nicely playing the run.

He's gone ... LB upgrade comes from the draft
