That might be. PFF is usuallu pretty good on the numbers stuff.

https://overthecap.com/player/odell-beckham-jr/2951/

Let's see:

His full $20 million signing bonus would instantly accelerate against the Giants cap, since it was an extension, and not a tear up of his 2018 deal.

I don't know enough about how guantees work on a traded contract work to go further than that.

Here's OBJ contract numbers on a post June 1st trade, which benefits NYG even more from a cap standpoint....

That can't be right either.

His singing bonus is for seasons 2019-2023. (5 seasons) It was a $20 million signing bonus. That entire $20 million would count against the Giants cap in the event of a pre-June trade. They could split it between this season and next after June 1.

I don't know where he got the $4 million number.

$20 million would still count against their cap. They would save his salary, which I guess would save them overall cash outlay this year, and which would create a lower cap number. I still see no way to get a $4 million cap hit next year, as his signing bonus is either gone this season, or split, which would create a $10 million hit this year and next.

I'm not sure why you keep going to this $20M signing bonus number that would be added all at once. He signed his contract in 2018. Teams can break that bonus down over a set # of years. In this case, five years. $4M of that $20M came off in 2018, leaving $16M for the next four years. A Post 6/1 trade means the $4M is allocated to 2019 while the additional $12M is added to 2020....the remaning 3 years of the signing bonus on the books all at once.

Dead Cap 2019= $4M
Dead Cap 2020= $12M

= $16M

+ $4M already allocated in 2018 = the total of $20M from the signing bonus.

I just looked it up, and I guess the signing bonus allocation against the cap for a new deal starts in the current year, no matter when the new deal starts. It is still split up to a total of 5 seasons, max. I'll be darned. Learn something new every day.

Yes, because the signing bonus is given the moment the sign, so it counts immediately.

I think the Titans are having a pretty good FA period (Humphries WR, resigned Vacarro S, and got the best G in FA Saffold)

Except as potential Free Agent targets.

Though I can't think of any UFA CB's or LB's that I'd be interested in at this point (at least none that would upgrade what we already have significantly).

Free agency hasn't even "begun" and I'm already leaning toward restricted free agents with low or no draft cost for youth and depth.

If only I knew what guys were on the trade block now. Alas..

I expect Bryce to go north of 9 million and that's a bit rich for a slot corner for me (at least since we are already paying out to Carrie for a similar role).

Maybe, but then we'd have Carrie on the trade block next year.

Nelson started 38 games in four years w/ the Chiefs. He had four INTs (all last year), forced one fumble and had 150 solo tackles. This is the #Steelers’ biggest money free agent signee since S Mike Mitchell.

Good for him. Being in the same division as Lamar Jackson should keep him from being the most targeted CB in the NFL two years in a row. smile

Funny you should mention that...

WHO could it be? willynilly willynilly willynilly

it really sounds like we are trying to trade with the Chiefs for Berry.

HAHA was a FS at Green Bay, honestly didn't watch him in Washington..Not sure he fits the mold.

I like Adrian Phillips, He's more of a temp. though...

I know some like Clayton from the Colts. and he's more of your run/hitter guy at SS..Not sure who's really left.

We're talking actual Super Bowl instead of the draft as our Super Bowl. I feel like I walked into the Twilight Zone.
