That is an eye-popping pair for the Rats. Should be great game matchups IMO.

With the cheapo contracts (the TE and LB) we're down in the 30's somewhere for salary cap space.
Me thinks we might need to start pumping the breaks. Until the new deals for OBJ and Vernon are worked out, anyway.
Might have to find a cheaper (<7 mill per year) strong safety. Though that should be easy enough.
Three big names in two days is quite a lot.
Not that it's my call to make, of course, but I would like to go into the season with about 20 million stashed to carry-over to next year if possible.
Don't want to end up in salary cap hell in 3-4 years when some big re-ups may be due.

Was hoping to keep Ogbah for depth, if we do trade him it better be worthy.

If I'm not mistaken, everyone we just got except OBJ are 3 year deals or less, none will impact the cap when those re-ups are due. And the CBA expires after next season, who knows what the next CBA will look like. Add in that the cap has been increasing by about 10m each year and we'll be fine (as of now)

the likely pseudo 2-year deal for Richardson won't, but they are trying to hammer out a new deal for Vernon. Guess there's no way for us to know the length of the deal until it's done. In John we trust. On a side note: Schobert is a pending UFA after this year and Kirksey's salary guarantees end this year as well. Can't think of any young LB's I like in free agency. So I'll have to stick with Tre Boston or Clinton-Dix as the last "known" free agent get possibility. Kind of Cray that we've only actually signed one big name Free agent. These trades are making everything feel like a whirlwind.

Between watching Baker and, now, backing up one of the true "gunslingers", one would think Tyrod would learn to scrap the conservative approach to "quarterbacking".
If I was going to be a pro athlete who wasn't a great player, I would have wanted to be the back-up for the chargers... Roll in some pretty nice cash every year, live in a place where the weather is beautiful, and back-up a guy who hasn't missed a start in 12 years.... that's a pretty good gig if you can get it.

For the record, my keyboard left out the "Z" in crazy above. It sticks...and I am not a 12-year old.

A post-June trade might make more sense but we'd be taking large contract with a 30 year old that has played 3 games in the past two years. Seems extremely risky. That exact same comment was said about odell.

That's what I was thinking, DC.

I like Berry, and I like the fact that we might get him without trading picks. But man, we better have a back-up plan for him, as he's never on the field.

Somebody help me on this. This Corey Coleman tender... he was taken in round 1 and now he's been given a round 1 tender. Or, the tender for the round in which he was drafted. Was even eligible for a lower round tender? Anybody know?

Tenders are: 1st round, 2nd round, or original round. Might as well give him an original round since he was a 1st round bust.

j/c Not a fan of seeing Earl Thomas and Mark Ingram go to the Ravens. But with our offense built the way it is, I'm not too concerned. And I trust in Kitchens and Monken to game plan around that stuff. That's what we pay them for, right? Just about every team has a stud or two on defense. Can't always play the Bengals. I'm not as worried about Ingram, though he is a good player. Again, will come down to us game planning. I think Lamar Jackson is a beast, but we've seen that teams, once they get some tape on him, can neutralize him. So then we just shut down Ingram and make Jackson pass.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

The Rats will suck with Jackson running their offense their loading up on D but they won't score points Jackson can't hit the broad side of a barn and you can only run just so much. So for me the Rats are a non factor and they will suck next year. Oh and they lost Mosley too. Can't wait to play them next year will own them.

Isaiah Crowell was released according to the radio
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Isaiah Crowell was released according to the radio Other than his social media presence (one post in particular), I had no problem with The Crow. He's one of those guys where I would say there's room for a guy like him on any NFL roster, but I don't think that's the case with us right now.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I agree, the only way I can see us interested in him is if Hunt ends up missing most or all of the season or we have an injury.
