Too bad Bauer had the high pitch count in the 3rd. He's been outstanding this year. 117 pitches is a lot for second the start of the year in low 40 degree weather, even with Bauer used to high pitch counts.

Bauer has only given up 1 hit in two games.

Bauer not coming out to pitch the 8th. John Edwards comes in. I'm guessing Trevor is royally PO'd. Too bad he had that 31 pitch 3rd inning. Still, I bet Bob Feller is rolling in his grave tonight. (Bob thought pitch counts were for sissies.)

PS ... Edwards walks one and hits the next hitter - two on, no outs. Nice job Edwards, that's why we brought you in.

if I'm cleveland, I trade Kluber for some offense and move TB to the ace

So let’s review the opening part of the mlb schedule. Opening weekend, Houston played at Tampa Bay, Oakland was at the Angels. After the first 2 weeks of the season, the furthest south the Indians will have played, is Cleveland, and no dome teams.

Has there been a rational explanation for this? I heard something about a competitive disadvantage for teams at the the end of the year, but this scheduling is absolutely ridiculous.

I heard on the radio that the southern teams don't want to sacrifice summer dates, when they usually draw well .... so more northern parks are in play early this season to try and even things out in that regard.

Tom Hamilton sez Carlos Carrasco is the first pitcher in Indians' history to record 12 strikeouts in the first 5 innings of a game.

Great day at the plate for Naquin. Took several hits to the opposite field. Good sign. i hope he can keep it up.

Clevinger was unhittable....again. Hopefully, the back feels better and he's able to make his next start.

Is Kluber the 3rd best pitcher in the rotation? My hot take is....yes.

Nice four game sweep.

A 6-3 start is about as good as we could have hoped for with the injuries to Lindor and Kipnis. Our pitching has been phenomenal.

I don't know what caused that brawl, but I blame Yasiel Puig. Guy has a screw loose.

Wahoo! Great to see some wins getting stacked up!

I said, late last year, that Clevinger would be the ace of the staff in a year or so ... and I still believe that.

The Jays might be the worst team in baseball, their lineup is bad.

There are so many bad teams. The Orioles, Royals, Tigers, and Marlins are horrible as well. At least the Jays have some guys, including the best prospect in baseball, to look forward to. Those other teams are barren.

Reading a book and had the Sunday Night game on in the background, heard the crack of the bat and said, "oh my!" before even seeing what happened. Bellinger tagged one.

I have heard and read hearsay type rumors today that Mike Clevinger's injury is much more serious than it first appeared. Its being circulated that he has a torn lat, and is out for at least 3 months and maybe the whole year.

Grateful, Milkman - you guys are pretty dialed in - are you seeing anything about this on Twitter?

Cleveland, OH (92.3 The Fan) – Indians starter Mike Clevinger expects to make his next start even though he left Sunday's win over Toronto early with upper back tightness.

The 28-year-old was disappointed he could finish what he started against the Blue Jays. Clevinger compiled 12 strikeouts in five innings of work, allowing one hit and picking up his first win of 2019.

"Everything was working today," Clevinger said. "That was why it was so hard for me to accept it because I was rolling. I didn't want to leave that mound at the time, but it was the right call."

Clevinger is off to a scorching start. He has 22 strikeouts and hasn't allowed a run in 12 innings. He doesn't think the back issue is serious.

"I think it's more precautionary than anything," Clevinger said. "My back was getting tight and I didn't want to pull on any part of my arm and the stuff that matters."

Clevinger is convinced he'll be able to make his next start.

"I will," he said with a smile. "That was why I had to come out early just to make sure I'm out there next week."

He was throwing the ball as well as we've seen him throw it. His fast ball hit 97 mph or higher eight times on Sunday.

"The hope is it's an overreaction on our part," manager Terry Francona said. "There's some real positive signs. He tested out really well. He was still throwing the ball great so we'll hope for the best."

Clevinger has been everything the Indians could've hoped for in two starts. He got into some trouble in the fourth inning when he walked Socrates Brito and gave up a double to Freddy Galvis. He responded with three-straight strikeouts.

"He had to pitch out of some traffic and he did," Francona said. "My goodness, when you have your back against the wall and our pitchers have all seem to have done that – they execute their best pitches – that's a very good trait to have."

There's nothing on Rotoworld.com and they tend to stay pretty on top of this kind of stuff.
