My wife tried to make me miss a Browns game once. I ate her liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

It's just the internet tough guy in me

If I EVER spoke to my wife that way, within seconds she would pull a lorana bobbet on me and my voice would go up 7 octives

Wrong. The key to a good marriage is that both are Browns fans.

You guys act like such tough guys. I'm willing to bet not one of you says things like that to your wives and actually means it. (Well, you may mean it, but you know it won't fly.)

I'm usually a mellow, laid back guy around the house. My wife is the boss in many matters. But when the Browns are on, everyone knows what the rules are. They've never really been put to the test that I can remember, though.

My wife is the boss 6 days a week but during Football season the rules change slightly and I take my place in front of the T.V. and the wife and kid go shopping or any other activity that takes them out of earshot due to my..... well, let's call it exuberance . This year things will change because we have a bar and it is almost a 50% mix of Stooler fans ( there are hillbillies everywhere it seems ) and Browns fans so it should make for some interesting times.

chi, If you're going to go to the party, buy the kid a 2008 calendar where all the Sundays from Sep-Mid Feb have something that says "No Family Events" or "ChiDawg Not Avail"! Make it a Browns calendar if you can to especially get the message across.

Oh and if anyone at the party tells you a Browns score, kill them.

The key is to have a wife like mine who is as die-hard a Browns fan as I am. She doesn't yell at our dogs too often, but if they're making a raucous during the game, she starts growing big and muscular and turning green!

I'm not trying to be a internet tough guy but so what if she gets mad. If she doesn't get mad about that, she will about something else.
You have to decide which is more important, Sex or the Browns? Go to the party after the game.

My wife knows damn well that I'm the boss and she won't say squat to me. She is a lot like my dog, obedient and always willing to jump when I tell her to.

And I'll drink and watch sports whenever I want
[to get in trouble]
And I'll come home when I'm good and ready
[to sleep on the couch]
Cuz a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do
[And I'm gonna do what you tell me to]
Because I'm Top dog around here
[but I've been neutered]

I won't in this case - but for others I will. Calendars are always a popular Christmas gift. People will be getting them.

Not sure yet - she gets home from work in a few hours.

You'll all know if I have a set on Sunday.

Man this isn't even hard. Our youngest birthday party is Sunday. We scheduled it for 5 o'clock. After the game and late enough to eat open presents and send all the guest home. You need some planning help.

Not me man. I was told about this the other day, and we had a little argument about it.

She knew how much I have been looking forward to the game. Her brother will be at her dads at 1 for lunch, etc - and she has to go as well. That's why she gave me the girlspeak of "you can stay home if you want."

I think it will work out in the end. The way I see it, I have 3 options:

1) stay home and watch the game
2) go with her and DVR the game
3) watch the game, let her go alone, and show up late

Shaft & I don't like to have ANY plans on Sunday during football season. If the Browns are away we chill at home all day watching the games on TV and keeping a close eye on our fantasy studs.

Throw in some Browns sex and a great meal and life is grand!

Both of our family's got it years ago.

Personally, I think it's a crimimal act in Columbus if you schedule a Saturday wedding between Labor Day and the last weekend in November..

If I have to do any emergency work on Sunday's I make sure the cost per hour is prohibitive and they remember how much it costs to have me miss the game..

She said I could stay home....

Then stay home, end of story. If it ticks her off, it will be a valuable lesson for her.... simply explain to her that you won't play games with her, and you don't expect her to play games with you. If she wants you to go, she should say that and then you can discuss it like adults before you tell her no.

After reading all of this stuff, I guess I consider myself lucky. My father in law is a huge Colts fan, and he will, and has, skipped out of birthdays, thanksgiving, AND christmas if the colts are on when the "event" is going on. He will come before, but leave early, or if it works, he will come after the game, but never, NEVER during the game.

What's that mean? My wife can't say much to me if I do the same as her father. Plus, my wife would never want me to watch a game with others in our house, or especially she wouldn't want me to watch a Browns game in someone else's house - something about shotguns, air horns, and whistles not being "accepted norm's" at others homes.......
