What they ARE saying is that Trump has helped to embolden them and create an atmosphere where they are acting more on their hate. Hate crimes have been on a steep increase since Trump has been elected. Making excuses for it and blaming others for pointing that out only exasperates the point.

You have Trump spreading lies, fear and hate. Then wish to shift the blame to the other side for pointing it out. But, that's the Trumpian way.

As with most threads it turned away from Bosa rather quickly into something else entirely.

And while a MAGA hat isn't intended that way by many who wear it, for some it is.

I'd say the majority view it that way.

I had a "Make America Great Again" hat, because I liked the slogan, but I won't wear it do to the way people perceive it, and automatically assume it means I am racist, white supremacist, and a Trump supporter.

It is now relegated to my working in the yard or on the car hat.

But you didn't respond to either of the posters you mentioned. Rather you questioned someone who had already explained exactly why he didn't wear the hat. It was explained and yet you decided to question his explanation.

I disagree, it is an exceptionally valid follow up question. To make it more clear, it is asking whether just the belief that one is a racist or nazi is enough to make him not wear the hat, or is it the belief that an actual violent assault is probable. Or, just how dangerous are the crazy nutbags?

As for OCD, to believe that one sees Nazis everywhere, to hold the idea that one is regularly punching Nazis in the face, when one of the largest groups of such in the country consists of 40 dudes who would rather hang out in the basement and drink beer, while doing nothing at all, THIS BELIEF, is not the act of a sane or rational mind.

AS I get older in some parts of my life I am very set in my ways, but surprisingly, as I have aged I feel that there are many different opinions and I can respect them if I don't agree. I don't even have to like it, but I can try to understand why they might think like that.

Case and point. Maybe not a full on assault at lowes, but being harassed in public, by strangers for hat is really not ok. It's bullying, it's intimidation that maybe not this time but you never know.
