This is the first time in a long time the Browns actually took the player I wanted.

I've been a Browns fan long enough to know our success isn't really based on the talent we have (Staph infections, arrests, coach in-fighting, etc.) but on paper talent wise this is the best team since the 80s!

And a safety we can bracket him with. The birth of the Berea Bandits. This defense got tougher long distance IMO.

Williams and Denzel Ward will be a fun, athletic cornerback tandem in Cleveland

The Browns had clear needs in their secondary going into the 2019 NFL Draft, but after the Odell Beckham Jr. trade, Cleveland wasn't set to pick until the middle of the second round. But John Dorsey couldn't help but to move up, with Greedy Williams still on the board at No. 46 overall.

Williams was my No. 1 cornerback and No. 6 overall prospect in this class. He showed he can be a ball hawk in 2017 when he reeled in six interceptions. His pick total decreased to just two in 2018, but Greedy is a suffocating press man corner.

Because he's so fluid in his hips and flexible in his ankles with sub 4.40 speed, he looks effortless when mirroring receivers down the field. He wasn't as tall nor as long as expected at his weigh-in at the combine, but Williams is an outside cornerback at the NFL level and formulates an awesomely athletic pairing opposite 2018 top five pick Denzel Ward in Cleveland's secondary.

Given the Browns' pass-rushing unit headlined by Myles Garrett, Olivier Vernon, and Sheldon Richardson, Williams finds himself in an excellent situation to return to his turnover-creating ways as rookie and beyond.

He isn't a physical, consistent tackler. At times, he looked to make some "business decisions" on the outside instead of attacking and wrapping up. That's the main, obvious ding on his game. In coverage, Williams can be a lockdown type. No clue how he was still available here.

I saw his name floated about on these boards - because of where we sat in the draft, I didn't do a lot of reading about the players we might pick in the top 10, as is the norm for us - but I wanted to go defence and you can never have enough good corners.

Andraez "Greedy" Williams was given his nickname by his grandmother when he was young. Opposing quarterbacks do not disagree with that label, as he attacks the ball as if it was his alone. Williams helped Shreveport's Calvary Academy win state titles in 2013 and 2014 and secured all-state honors as a senior while receiving four-star recruiting grades. Williams also played youth football with another LSU star, linebacker Devin White. He redshirted his first year in Baton Rouge due to the team's depth at corner. When starter Kevin Tolliver was suspended for the 2017 season opener, Williams took advantage by intercepting a pass. He continued to start in every game that season, posting 38 tackles and leading the SEC with six picks and 1.3 passes defended per game (11 pass breakups). SEC coaches rightfully named him first-team all-conference for his efforts, and the Associated Press tabbed him third-team All-American. Williams was a first-team all-conference selection again in 2018, as well as an Associated Press second-team All-American after starting 12 games, posting 33 tackles, two interceptions, and nine pass breakups. He chose not to play in the team's bowl game to prepare for the draft. Williams' brother, Rodarius, was a redshirt sophomore starting cornerback at Oklahoma State in 2018, though he was born about 15 months before Greedy.

Overview

Long, athletic cornerback who is more smooth and fluid than twitchy and sudden in his coverage. Williams has the instincts and tools to play a variety of coverages, but his length and pattern-matching talent will likely get him drafted to handle press-man duties. His ball production dropped a little from 2017 and he continued to struggle with finding the ball downfield, but he is rarely ever out of position. He needs to get stronger and more competitive in run support, but he has the talent and traits to become a CB1.

If our DC is worth anything we should have a badass D this year. Lots of sacks and lots of picks. We shall see... no reason at all we should have a top D.

I'm still concerned about TE's exploiting a soft underbelly. This is where I think Schobert is key.
