Was hoping to see Santana with the cycle - only needed a single in the 9th but struck out. Man, we hit the cover off the ball tonight. Had scored runs in nine straight innings going back to last night - first time since 1980.

How did Hand get the save with a 5-run lead and pitching only to the last 2 batters in the 9th?

No doubt the guy is devious.

PS. That was a great series @ Boston. Next week is huge with home series with Yankees and Twins.

Stay tuned Tribe fans.

Bases were loaded. As long as the tying run reaches the on deck circle, you qualify for a save.

Oh right. Bases loaded. One out.

Thanks.

That could have gotten ugly.

I've followed Espino a bit. For a teenager to have stuff like that is ridiculous. He also has a giant frame so there is room for more. Cleveland got a potential great pitcher. The only thing is that high school arms are likely to get hurt at some point between the minors and majors, how Espino avoids/handles that injury will be huge.

When it rains, it pours:

Carlos Carrasco is temporarily stepping away from baseball to address a blood condition that has caused him to feel lethargic in recent weeks. The Indians don’t know when he’ll return, but they say they expect him back at some point this season.

The Indians bet on their pitching depth and did nothing this off-season. Even that bet was a little bit outlandish. Their pitching depth has taken major hits and now they wasted a year of their window. The ownership should be embarrassed with what they did with this team.

Well, it is officially time for the Tribe to become sellers.

What do they have to sell? They can't/shouldn't trade Lindor, Ramirez's value is as low as it's ever going to be, and Bauer hasn't been himself either.

I bet they end up trading Bauer but they aren't going to get as much as they want for him.

Why would we sell? We are maybe 9.5 back if we win tonight with about 100 to play. We will get hot, we will get healthy. Minny will hit a cold run at some point. We shouldnt even think about selling til late July!!!

Great win and a fun game tonight for the Tribe.

Nice game by Luplow. Even hit a HR off a righty.

Left the game with my youngest son at the rain delay. Would have been fun to see the final innings.

If anything, I lean on the pessimistic side.

But. the Indians are not doing as horrible as it seems.

First off, they're only 1 game back from a theoretical play-off spot. (if the season was to end today)

And two, Francona always manages for September. Today - early June - is not the priority.

He is making decisions now regarding things like player development and deployment (minor leaguers, revamped veterans).

He's evaluating what he has to work with and how he should use it. (them - the players)

And to have the team peak the last fourth of the season.

And Francona is good at that.

It's too bad that Ramirez and Kipnis are tanking and can't be counted on to regain their former capability (you know - like even hitting .275)

But, there are new potential strengths (Mercado, Bieber)

The Tribe went into this season with the best starting rotation in baseball.

3/5ths of that is currently disabled.

That's pretty tough. A valid excuse for any team to go right in the toilet.

I think there's a fair chance the Indians startng rotation will look very good again in two months.

Bauer still has plenty of value as a player, the issue is his approach on year-to-year contracts. Brad Hand is 3rd in saves in MLB and provides a left hand in the bullpen any team would want. I agree on Ramirez's value and Lindor isn't going anywhere. I wonder what the team thinks of Zimmer with guys like Mercado, Luplow, and Bauers in the mix? Not sure they would get much but he is super young.

I don't think the Indians will be big sellers, but I think they should consider bringing up & continue to play younger guys to see what is worth keeping and focusing on. Kipnis will be gone. Kluber will most likely be gone. Bauer could be gone. Ramirez could be dealt. Yet there is still some quality youngsters that don't constitute a full rebuild like we've done in the past-- mostly due to the young pitching of Clev, Bieber, Plesac and hopefully anchored by Carrasco for the next couple of years. The pitching, despite injuries, is pretty much set for the future IMO. The younger offensive guys, however, still need to develop.

I really want to see this Bobby Bradley guy down in AAA Columbus.

I am definitely looking forward to seeing Bradley. I think that he'll really help.

I would love to know what happened to Jose. Man, he just fell off the edge last year, and hasn't recovered yet.

I just have to wonder if we have any starting pitching left in AAA. Jefrey Rodriguez is now also on the IL with a shoulder, and is out 2-3 weeks. That's 4 starters down. I wonder who we bring up next. Clevinger is scheduled to make a Minor League start, but I don't know how many starts they want to see ... or how many innings they want to see him go.

If I'm the Indians, I am wrapping Bauers and Bieber in bubble wrap before they leave the ball park every night.

Danny Salazar Making Good Progress
5 days agoCleveland Indians pitcher Danny Salazar (shoulder) started throwing live batting practice for the first time on Tuesday, and manager Terry Francona said the right-hander has been making solid progress since then. The 29-year-old missed all of 2018 due to injury but should help the Indians out for the second half of this season. It's unclear if he'll work in a starting or relief role, but Salazar could have deep mixed and AL-only value in a starting role after he went 11-6 with a 3.87 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 10.6 K/9 in 25 starts in 2016. Salazar owns an impressive 10.5 strikeouts per nine innings in his five years in the big leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

I thought I heard something where he was throwing in the low-to-mid 90s. That would be nice, although not the heat he once had.

It would be great if he could come back and be an effective mid level starter, at least.

Indians a very slight favorite to sweep the Twins in tonight's game with Trevor Bauer pitching.

I'd guess that's about the equivalent of a -1.5 point football favorite.

In baseball the odds are gambling odds based on a $100 bet.

In this case, if you wanna bet on the Indians, you bet (risk) $115 to win $100. If you want Minnesota, you bet a $100 to win $115.

At least that's how my wise old gambling buddy Charlie once explained it to me.

Un-freaking-believable ... Trevor Bauer just got drilled by a line drive back up the middle on his lower left leg, very much like the shot that broke his leg last year. He's walking it off, apparently okay, but this is getting ridiculous.
