It seems they waited a long time into the process to make this decision.

Gase with the takeover

Strange timing.
Is that a condemnation of their recent drafts? Their handling of salaries? Their ability to sign free agents? Personality conflicts?
By all accounts they’ve drafted well. They’ve signed top FA talent.
Have to wonder what the rub was. Leads me to believe it’s personality related.

Unless this was a conduct issue, this move defies logic.

Agreed. Just guessing, I would say this was more of a "chemistry" problem, which opens the door to a whole lot of uncertainty and dysfunction going forward.

LE'VEON BELL
RB, NEW YORK JETS

The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta reports coach Adam Gase "absolutely did not want to sign" Le'Veon Bell this offseason.

This should go over well inside Jets headquarters. Anyway, this is believed to be one of the big -- if not the biggest -- disagreements between Gase and now-fired GM Mike Maccagnan. Maccagnan was the one making the calls on the Bell signing and the outrageous contract handed out to off-ball ILB C.J. Mosley. Mehta adds that Gase "didn't want to spend a lot of money on any running back." As NFL Network's Ian Rapoport puts it, Gase likes Bell as a player but isn't a fan of the money part of it.

It seems bad that the coach, who is now in charge of the whole team, didn’t want the teams two biggest off-season additions.

Wouldn't it be, "They are the old Browns"?

I was thinking the same thing. the coach did not want the GM to sign the RB. The GM signs the RB. The GM is now gone, the coach is now also the GM. And it is now out that the Coach/GM did not want the RB. This will sit well with the RB.

Interesting.

I think this would be a good place to insert the Adam Gase look from his Jets introductory press conference.

I think it's happened elsewhere, we were just the train wreck people wanted to see it happen to. People laughed as recent as the 2018 draft. We will have the last laugh.

Gase hasn't proved he can even coach yet, and now he's in control of the team? /smh

Apparently he didn't like the Mosley contact either... Which kinda makes the Darron Lee trade a bit more perplexing.

so let me get this straight, they waited this long .. did all of that spending and drafting ... and the new HC didn't support their biggest move entirely LOL ... now he's taking over

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

I don't necessarily want to see other teams have problems but it's nice to see it IS someone else and not us. We had the market cornered on that for way too long. rolleyes

If we had not lived through that dysfunction for the last two decades, it would be hard to believe that that is true. But we know all-too-well that thing can happen in pro sports.

They ain't even scratched the surface of our dysfunction yet .... not even close bro ...

It started with the hiring of Policy and went non stop til the hiring of KJ .....

Hiring bOtch out of college and giving him full control over everything ... our GM was a college recruiter ... that rivals what the thief did ....

I don’t wanna do a full list ... i’ll take Freddie’s advice and look through that great big beautiful windshield instead of that nightmare of a rear view mirror ... thumbsup

Gm’s Texting plays down to coaches during games .... coaches scheming to get out (Shanny ... and rightfully so ... this is not a knock on Shanny) .... coaches unilaterally making trades with other teams and the gm not executing them, we’ll never know exactly how that went down and when and what the thief knew but good lord .... talk about a bad look ...

Naaaa .... this is like a pebble in the shoe of our history over the last two decades .... that old saying sums it up best .... it was pretty much our motto for twenty frickin long agonizing years ...

Just when u thought things couldn’t get any worse ....

But as Pumba would say .... “U gotta put your behind in your past” .... thankfully we can finally do that .... fire up the cars and let the good times roll ... thumbsup

I thought the Jets overpaid for Bell and Mosley, so I think Gase actually has a point here. Every year, there are ridiculous contracts handed out early in free agency.

The value is usually found later on, or another approach that Dorsey has used, is making a trade. Might cost a pick or two but you can go get the guy you really want, and without having to bid on the open market.

Almost as bizarre as the rumor that they're trying to woo Peyton Manning to be the new GM.

the Jets are a mystery to me at this point

He may be a good X's and O's guy, but as a person, he's unlikeable as hell. No way will his players run through a wall for him. Now, I don't think you have to be their friend. But you do need to get along. Giving that guy all the power is a BIG mistake. Allowing it to get out that the HC didn't agree with player signings is a disaster. The Jets screwed up. Can you imagine Greg Williams and Gase getting along very well? That team is a bomb just waiting to go off.

In the past we'd call it dysfunction to the Brownth power ... aka a clusterbleep.
