Frye Being Traded!

Browns trading their former starting QB to make room on the roster for veteran Ken Dorsey.
By Mike Trivisonno, Newsradio WTAM 1100
Tuesday, September 11, 2007
(Cleveland) - From Browns starter…to off the team in two day.

Mike Trivisonno is confirming that the Browns are trading quarterback Charlie Frye to make room on the roster for Ken Dorsey.

Dorsey was cut ten days before the season began. But after Frye’s dismal performance on Sunday against the Steelers, Frye is being traded.

One possibility mentioned has been Atlanta, but Browns Beat Reporter Andre Knott is working to confirm that.

No word yet from the Browns on who will start Sunday against the Bengals, but the fans on Sunday were chanting for rookie Brady Quinn.

Woah, very shocking. Atlanta could use him I suppose, as much as I root for Harrington, I don't think he can cut it after his time with the Lions. Zero pocket presence.

I want the Cleveland Browns to be my pallbearers so they can let me down for the last time.

I refuse to believe this is true. Who in God's name would any team bring in a new backup QB at this point in the season?

Frye will have missed all of training camp and week 1. He would be useless as a backup for anyone other than the Browns.

Says a lot about our FO.

They spent 8 months evaluating the QB position. They went with Frye. Then after 1 1/2 quarters they say, whoops.

We have one great FO. No wonder we have only had 1 Pro-Bowl player. These guys have zero evaluation abilities.

Not too surprised really. Im just glad we will get something for him instead of just outright releasing him. Probably wont get much but something is better than nothing.

Why would they trade for him if they think he will be released anyway?

But he can't be traded, there were geniuses on here saying that Frye couldn't be on an NFL roster let alone be a starter. How could he be of any value to any team with the great football minds stating this already?

Havent been able to confirm anything but it is looking like they are trying for a player for player deal instead of a draftpick.

This is great news. Not only is Frye not going to be on this team anymore but we might actually get something for him

I wish Charlie nothing but success. He is a quality person. I am grateful for his class, his work ethic, and his love for the Browns. I hope he does well whether he is a starter, backup, or ends up out of football. He is a person that defines everything you want in a football player in his makeup and his work ethic. Hopefully, he can overcome his physical limitations.

Amen....charlie has a place in this leauge, maybe not as a starter as we tried to make him into, but Chalrie will be a good serivicble back-up.

Charlie Frye Sent Packing: Browns Quarterback Traded!
Submitted by Eugmc on September 11, 2007 - 11:40am. Local News News Sports

According to WTAM, Charlie Frye has thrown his last pass for his hometown Cleveland Browns. The quarterback, who starred at Akron and was a 3rd round draft pick has been traded according to the radio station. The Atlanta Falcons are rumored to be the recipient of the QB. It makes sense because many believe that Frye is more of a West Coast offense QB and they brought in a coach (Bobby Petrino) to run that offense with Michael Vick before his legal troubles suspended the quarterback.

The Browns will use the roster space to clear way for Ken Dorsey who is looked at as a mentor for young Brady Quinn. It looks like Quinn will be starting sometime very soon, although Dorsey may get the nod this week against the Cincinnati Bengals.

No, because I believe he saw most of them. I'm not sure the OL did or adjusted, or the WRs did and got into their hot routes, but this isn't the time or place for that.

Sure you could......Tim Couch could be re-signed and you'd have to be medicated you'd be so giddy.

I agree with everything you typed. Frye deserves better than what he is getting from the fans. It's like Couch all over again.

In the right system, I think Frye can be decent. He is a warrior and will always play hard. Like someone else said, he will do well in a West Coast Scheme.

Another one bites the dust....This is getting pathetic.

Frye may not be the only Browns QB to be traded today. One to atlanta and one to NYG

I'm with you CoachB. Too bad he wasn't able to turn out for us, I've always like him. As they say in The Godfather, it's not personal, only business.

Hope he'll be able to catch on with somebody else, maybe a change of scenery will do him well.

IF it's true, we will get something out of him. Isn't that kind of the point of a "trade"? Even if it's a conditional draft pick, it's something.

The report says they plan on resigning Dorsey.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see that report. Who else would we bring in? Only Quinn and Dorsey would know the playbook if we brought in a vet.

I've also heard the Giants rumored in the trade mix. That came from Rizzo. Take it for what it is. Giants are denying the trade rumors.
