Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez to introduce measure to declare climate change an official emergency: reportSen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) are set to introduce on Tuesday a joint resolution with Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.), declaring climate change an official emergency, The Guardian reported on Monday The resolution reportedly reads, “The global warming caused by human activities, which increase emissions of greenhouse gases, has resulted in a climate emergency” that “severely and urgently impacts the economic and social well-being, health and safety, and national security of the United States." It also “demands a national, social, industrial, and economic mobilization of the resources and labor of the United States at a massive-scale.” Blumenauer’s office told the Guardian that he decided to draft the resolution after President Trump declared an emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border to fund barriers along the Southern border. A spokesperson, who is seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, blasted the Trump administration for not prioritizing climate change in a statement to the British newspaper. “President Trump has routinely declared phony national emergencies to advance his deeply unpopular agenda, like selling Saudi Arabia bombs that Congress had blocked,” the Sanders spokesperson said. “On the existential threat of climate change, Trump insists on calling it a hoax. Senator Sanders is proud to partner with his House colleagues to challenge this absurdity and have Congress declare what we all know: we are facing a climate emergency that requires a massive and immediate federal mobilization.” The announcement came as Trump gave a speech touting his administration’s environmental policies Monday without mentioning the phrase “climate change.” Although the resolution is symbolic and would not enact any initiatives to combat climate change or lower emissions, climate advocates say similar proposals in Canada and the United Kingdom have elevated the urgency of the issue. More than a dozen countries and hundreds of cities, including many in the U.S., have declared climate change an emergency. https://thehill.com/policy/energy-enviro...declare-climateSad that we have to pass legislation to declare facts now.

So, now it IS man made global warming? "“The global warming caused by human activities, which increase emissions of greenhouse gases, has resulted in a climate emergency”
I mean, first it was man made global warming, then it was called man made climate change, then it was just climate change........and now we're back to man made global warming."
320 million people are affecting the climate, while the rest of the 7 billion on earth aren't?

But I DO know people like him will stop at nothing in attempting to degrade our president.
The libs damn well better find something to charge Trump with, because as of now, they are looking dumber and dumber and dumber.
I hate to see people look ignorant. I hope they find something to charge Trump with. Because........well, they are hanging their reputation on it.

U guys are BRUTAL ... leave dudes g/f alone ... just cause u can’t see she’s got it going on ... I mean the part in her inauguration speech when she said the first bill she was gonna sign would be all about making sure all those folks that were working 2, 3 or even 4 jobs to keep the unemployment numbers down are taken care of ... the unemployment #’s will go up if they only work one job but she’s right in that these people need lives and thats way more important ... This one needs to learn to count before we work on 0 + 0 = 0 ... she makes OCD look like he’s on the ball ...

Interesting little side note here:
My daughter had a job. Min. wage to start, but she got up to $9.00 an hour after a short time. However, she didn't get many hours. She got a different job. Her first day she got more hours in 1 day than she did in a month at her old job.
And get this: She gets paid time off. She asked me about a month ago "Dad, what is PTO?" I replied "well, on a tractor, it's power take off. Why?"
"No dad, on my check from work, it says PTO: 6 1/2 hours." Oh - paid time off. You get paid time off????"
She works right around 30 hours a week, gets paid time off. She's 18.
I'm damn sick and tired of hearing about how minimum wage jobs don't afford a living. Any damn adult working for minimum wage after 2-3 months on the job is someone that has no desire.

And I bet she was appreciative also ... ... i’d say u should be proud of her arch but u don’t hide how proud of her u are at all ... as well u should be sir ... Here’s what i love about her ... she’s the champion of the underpaid ... played no small part in amazons decision to back out of 25,000 jobs in one of the Burroughs other than Manhattan ... wants a 15 an hour minimum wage .. Meanwhile Miss WAGE DISPARITY threw a temper tantrum and then threw a hissy fit when Pelosi wouldn’t send the pay raise bill to the floor ... i believe she’s making 174,000 and she wants a raise while fighting for the little guy cause she cares ... She’s a real buet this one ...

"One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with the environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole," said Edenhofer, who co-chaired the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change working group on Mitigation of Climate Change from 2008 to 2015.
So what is the goal of environmental policy?
"We redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy," said Edenhofer.
For those who want to believe that maybe Edenhofer just misspoke and doesn't really mean that, consider that a little more than five years ago he also said that "the next world climate summit in Cancun is actually an economy summit during which the distribution of the world's resources will be negotiated."
Mad as they are, Edenhofer's comments are nevertheless consistent with other alarmists who have spilled the movement's dirty secret. Last year, Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of U.N.'s Framework Convention on Climate Change, made a similar statement.
"This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution," she said in anticipation of last year's Paris climate summit.
"This is probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the economic development model for the first time in human history."
The plan is to allow Third World countries to emit as much carbon dioxide as they wish -- because, as Edenhofer said, "in order to get rich one has to burn coal, oil or gas" -- while at the same time restricting emissions in advanced nations. This will, of course, choke economic growth in developed nations, but they deserve that fate as they "have basically expropriated the atmosphere of the world community," he said.

I used your link to Google Search Homepage to find the article you copied and pasted from. 40 likes to pretend words are his own and paste crap without attribution too, so I'm used to seeing it. https://www.investors.com/politics/edito...-warming-scare/Sounds like some right wing propaganda scare tactics that worked on you at the very least. I guess small minds are easy to predict/persuade.

Sounds like some right wing propaganda scare tactics that worked on you at the very least. I guess small minds are easy to predict/persuade. It's the guy's actual quote. If you want to pick apart the quote or the context in which the quote was made, then that might actually be an effective debate technique. But instead, you find the quote on a sketchy right-wing site, use that equivocation to dismiss the quote itself, and then insinuate that DC is the small mind for falling for it?

They'll keep on being deniers until they're grandchildren die. And their response will be? "Well it would have happened anyway."
Then DC will pull up something one person said. Then the throng of deniers will claim that one person speaks for everyone.

Well when that one person "co-chaired the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change working group on Mitigation of Climate Change from 2008 to 2015." I thought the quote might matter. Smaller, cleaner cars in the 60s. We don't need to be taxed to death to do this. People want a clean environment, and wanted it before the global warming push for wealth redistribution.

Me too. The only thing is, it seems no matter what happens or topic involved, you'll have differing opinions from people involved in any large group of people. I think we're all pretty sure that changing over to green energy isn't going to redistribute any wealth.
Only those who have the capital to make huge investments will have any huge success.

Mostly, I want to hear the dirt from the UN.
Random political people are just parrots invoking hysteria.
I want to hear from the people directly involved.
Because to Arch's point, climate change is a world issue and not so much an American issue as our country is already a good citizen when it comes to pollution. This is bigger than us.

I could claim - like our resident rocket scientist whose the smartest guy in his mind - that I hit "reply" and that the coding in the website is wrong. I could deny that I hit "quick reply" .... I could pontificate, point fingers and then change the subject and then ask a question about a field of my own expertise that others might not know .... I could, I really could. But I won't.

Here is what most don't get-
We are not in danger of the world ending and we don't need to save the planet. The planet will be here much much longer than humans.
What we need to save is our ability to survive in the environment on earth: breathable air, drinkable water, and weather that isn't constantly trying to kill everybody/everything.
Imagine dropping your small grandchildren off on Mars as it is today and saying, "Good luck kid. Sorry we didn't even try to leave you a world like we were given. Oops, our bad."
That's essentially where earth is headed if we don't wake up.

That's essentially where earth is headed if we don't wake up. And here's what most really don't get. This planet had been warner than it is now. It was warmer during the Roman warm period, and warmer in the medieval warm period. No SUVs, coal plants, or industrialization during either of those. The sun is the main driver of these patterns, not us. The sun is entering a minimum phase the past few years. It will get cooler. People thrive in warmth and die in cold. Colder temp will lock more available water into ice caps and cause dryer conditions. These cycles self correct over hundreds to thousands of years, and there is almost nothing we can do to change that.

I agree 100% that warming and cooling are cyclical. But the science behind this takes that into account. The big difference is all the carbon and other crap we've put into the atmosphere in the last few hundred years. That is acting like an amplifier of the natural cycle making weather patterns worse, warming faster, etc.
Stick your head in the san if you want, but mankind is not being a responsible partner with nature, period.

I'm more interested in humans coming up with biodegradable products to replace plastics and other substances that dont breakdown naturally. This is a huge hurdle that we havent been able to get past. So we can go to the moon but we cant replace plastic???
I'm also interested in conservation of wild life and ecosystems.
If we cant protect the wild world then we are doomed.
