Yes and no. People don't look at the whole picture. If you want to talk emissions I have been fired up about that for years. GM's 3.8 liter engine got better gas mileage than the 4 cyl engines they use today. More power, better gas mileage, and it lasted a hell of a lot longer. But thanks to our dumber than hell government the engine was discontued. Why????? Because they claimed it caused to much pollution. Never mind that it got better gas mileage than the 4 cyl engine. Never mind that it held up better than the current 4 cyl engines. All the government cared about was that it caused more pollution. Never mind that it lasted longer, or that it got worse better mileage on a hilly road, highway, and city driving, or that the engine lasted twice as long as todays 4 cyl engines.

So at what point did I get did I worry about coal instead our health?????? NEVER I worried more about our government shoving things down our throat that most people didn't know about. You use to worry about our government bro, but lately it seems like you gobble up everything they spit out

Trump caps off a long day by letting coal companies dump waste into streams.

The president’s unhinged 77-minute press conference wasn’t the only news he made today. After an exhausting fracas with the media, he popped back into the Oval Office to repeal an environmental regulation restricting coal companies from polluting waterways with mining waste.

Trump signed a bill undoing the so-called Stream Protection Rule, an Obama-era regulation which aimed to curb environmental damage from mountaintop removal coal mining. During that particularly violent mining process, coal companies literally blow up the tops of mountains and dispose of the waste—which often contains heavy metals—in streams and other bodies of water. Research has suggested that this results in “adverse outcomes in community health” in many Appalachian towns.

Before signing the bill, Trump made sure to shake hands will Robert Murray, the CEO of one of America’s largest coal companies.

Murray, who once called the Stream Protection Rule the coal industry’s “biggest threat,” gave $100,000 to a Trump-supporting super PAC during the presidential election.

On April 25, 2017, the Trump Administration halted, indefinitely, certain compliance deadlines in the 2015 Steam Electric Effluent Limitations Guidelines (“ELG”) Rule, which set, for the first time, limits on toxic water pollution from coal-fired power plants. EPA issued the regulations on September 30, 2015 in response to a lawsuit by the Environmental Integrity Project and other environmental groups, and the rule went into effect on January 4, 2016. Power plants are the largest industrial discharger of toxic water pollution, yet prior to the ELG rule there were no federal limits on any toxic pollutants from this industry. The ELG rule sets limits on discharges, requiring zero discharge from certain coal ash wastewaters and requiring limits on toxic pollutants including arsenic and selenium in the wastewater from air pollution control devices called “scrubbers.” The rule required that discharge permits incorporate the new requirements “as soon as possible beginning November 1, 2018” and “no later than December 31, 2023.” However, on September 18, 2017, EPA Administrator Pruitt finalized a rule postponing the earliest compliance dates for the ELG rule from 2018 to November 2020. This postponement creates uncertainty for regulatory agencies that have to issue new permits, as many plants have already received permits and taken steps that incorporate the rule’s pollution-reducing requirements and deadlines. EPA accepted public comments until July 6, 2017; you can read EIP’s comments here. EPA also announced, on August 14, 2017, in a filing with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, that it was planning to re-write the limits on wastewater from bottom ash, scrubbers, and coal gasification plants, further signaling its intention to gut the limits on these waste streams.

Just a honest question for you bro. You keep talking about coal companies dumping waste into streams. Do you realize that todays coal companies are not effecting things that were done for a hundred years? I can agree with you that some things coal companies did was stupid and did cause more pollution. But I also know that some things they did had no effect on our envirement. What Trump has been doing has been both good and bad for our country. Just like what Obama did was both good and bad for our country.

But that isn't the topic here. Did you read the regulations that were rolled back? Did you read the things they will now be able to do? Did you read about mountain top mining and allowing their waste to enter our streams? Do you honestly think a former coal lobbyist is a fair person to maintain balance in EPA regulations?

I've never thought any president was perfect. I have a lot of trouble finding anyone worthy of my vote anymore. Nobody truly lines up with my views. But allowing the further trashing of our environment isn't something anyone should be advocating.

As a former coal minor I have read everything I have ever seen about this subject. Unlike most people I have spent countless hours crawling around under ground and have 1st hand knowledge on this subject. No matter how much folks have tried to bash me about it when they have no clue.

The sun drives every weather pattern we have. Every season. Every gust of wind. It's why we cool at night and warm during the day. The last solar minimum, the Maunder Minimum to be exact, caused 300+ years of cooler weather. Every large volcano or large meteor strike has plunged the world into cold by debris blocking the sun. Even Mt. St. Helens caused a cooling effect, and that was a small eruption. This planet has been warming since the last ice age ended, and nothing we do will stop that or even slow it down. The human contribution to this process is negligent at best
