Why would any team accept a trade for Frye then if they know he will be cut at 4pm??

As much as we want this to be true, why would a team want to trade for either Frye, or Anderson when they could just sign Byron Leftwhich?? This sounds too much like Triv's source being his big butt.

B/c at 4pm it can become a bidding war. If there are 5 or so teams interested, then you have to compete with all those teams. If you trade a scrub or late round pick, you are guaranteed to get him.

If you NEED a QB, you consider a trade to ensure you get him.

If this is true, it's best for all concerned. CF needs a fresh start, the clock was ticking on him since we drafted Quinn. I feel badly for him, Charlie seems like a good kid.

One thing is for sure: our FO looks like a bunch of buffoons right now, and I've ALWAYS defended them.

cheap backup vs expensive backup. With a few teams interested the only way to assure u get the player u want is to trade for him the Browns did well by leaking the trade stuff.

MONEY.

Think of Frye's contract vs. Leftwich. Without looking, I am going to guess who would demand more money.

If this is true, then the entire Browns' FO should be tarred feathered.

I'm not saying that because they're trying to dump Frye, but because they said they're going to cut him if they can't trade him. That puts a big incentive for a team to give something up for a guy who is going to be available for free soon.

But, like I said before, I'll believe all this when I actually see it.

nothing has happened as of 5 minutes ago but there are about 5 teams showing interest in Frye and a couple interested in Anderson. cough cough suckers lol.

I'm hearing he is gone to NY from Rizzo. Who else are you hearing is interested?
Anybody else think the F.O. over reacted and panic set in? I hope he does good where ever he goes and proves some the garu's on here wrong.
Now we can start running Brady out of town. I'll start it off. If Charlie Weis is his mentor how can he do anything but suck?

I'm not sure exactly what happens if Frye gets cut. He either:

(a) goes on waiver where there is a set order teams can claim him. If a team interested in him is towards the bottom of the waiver order, they'll never see him.

(b) becomes a free agent, where they may have to compete for him.

So a team who wants him is not guaranteed to get him if he's cut.

Also, by waiting until 4:00 pm to cut him, a team that signes him wouldn't be able to use him this weekend, if they'd be inclined to. As an incoming QB it's not likely he'd see the field so soon anyway.

Pit, I was responding to someone saying the reports are Frye AND DA are going to be gone today. That makes NO sense no matter how you slice it.

Good point. I didnt think much along those lines because I didnt know that many teams were interested in him. If it is in fact 5 or so teams. I figured if it was just Atlanta why wouldnt they just wait.

We need to see how this plays out ... U can't judge a book by its cover P ... I hear where your coming from .. those thinking this is just a knee jerk are gonna say were PANICKING because thats what this looks like .. my VIEW of this is as follows ...

1. We been trying to trade either DA or Frye for a while now ... we couldn't get DIDDLY for them so we kept them both and cut Dorsey ...

2. Eli goes down for at least a month (the giants are denying this to help their TRADE situation) ...

3. Harrington proves to Petrino hes a BUM ...... and correct me if Im wrong Mourg cause i ain't sure but I believe that frye would be a nice fit in his system????

4. Two situations all of a sudden become VERY VIABLE TRADE scenarios ...

I think this actually broke MUCH BETTER than the FO could have imagined .... now if its a knee jerk (sumptin i HIGHLY DOUBT) then were DUMB AS HELL and in deep trouble ....

I BELIEVE things just happend to break to make it look like a KNEE JERK thing ... ANOTHERWORDS even if Frye LIT PITT UP we would still be trying to trade him today ... cause my guess is that DA has ZERO VALUE anywhere in the NFL ... so all Frye's game against Pitt did was hurt us in our trade attempts ...

so U can RELAX BRO .... its not as dire or KNEE JERK as most think and the MEDIA IS GOING TO POTRAY IT ...

Sometimes you have to tell the boss not to cut off his nose despite his face!! I might not like Frye right now but if I was in the cleveland media, I would be asking what the hell is going on out there in Berea? I mean how do you go through all the camps, preseason and then wait until the first game to do this!.. Its stupid and if Lerner asked for this and Opie followed orders, he is stupid also!!

We are the laughing stock of the NFL. This whole thing as become a comedy of errors, something I don't find very funny. I like Frye but I was telling my friend at the game that he needed to be pulled. He looked worse than I had ever seen him. The FO is looking like a chicken with it's head chopped off. I wonder what the players are thinking about all of this.

OK, it's tin foil hat time!

I can't help but think the GM who drafted Thomas, Quinn, Wimbley, Jackson, et al, wouldn't be so stupid as to create this mess. Who did it then? And who's cleaning up the mess now?

Who made the final decision on who to cut and who to keep? Was it the coach or the GM. Did they arm wrestle or flip a coin? Maybe they had a contest to see who could eat the most boiled eggs? Or was somebody given the length of rope he needed to make his own noose?

Oh well, this isn't as messed up yet as the time we almost had to have open auditions for a center right before game time. The difference this time is that someone went out of their way to make this mess happen. I'm too interested in finding out who done it to be upset right now.

J.

Hey 'Peen, is there anything that can happen that you won't use to show that RAC is going to be gone soon, too?

I heard it's going to rain today. That must mean that RAC's out of here soon.

It might not be too bad. I think the national media will be focusing on their golden boy, Brady Quinn, being close to starting more than on the negatives of the Browns' handling of the QB situation.

The local media, yep, they're going to have a field day.

Either way, could you feel any worse about everything going on?

That is closer to the truth than you can imagine.
I was told of this about a month ago.
The fact was..no one did want either but if they had to have one..it would be DA...one GM said Frye has no upside ..

Maybe it wasn't the OC. It was at the opposite of the field, but I thought it was the OC. Maybe it was a QB coach or something.

It's all working out just like I told U..
Dorsey back(shouldn't have been released

That's not even close to what you said at ALL!!

Firstly, you said DA would be cut,not Charlie. And you said Dorsey wouldn't be cut and he was!

Worked out? How it ends up "working out" has nothing to do with anything you claimed would happen at that time. Nothing.

You're funnier than hell. You claimed Anderson would be cut. I said Anderson would be on our roster and not be in the 53 man cuts. You were wrong.

And see, during all of this, there was this "QB competition" going on. Neither of us knew who the starter would be. I said if DA was cut,it meant RAC thought Quinn was ready,or damned close. Well,DA is the starter. So guess what? Now I feel exactly the same way! If they let Charlie go,that means they think Quinn is close to ready. They're ready for Quinn to be the back up within a matter of weeks.A very few weeks!

If not,Charlie won't be let go. The whole thing was predicated on Charlie winning the competition. The point was,the loser of the competition is the back up. And our coaching staff won't "cut the back-up" unless they're ready to elevate the third string to second string.

You do grasp that concept,right?

They're not going to bring Dorsey of the street, only let him play with the scrubs all year and make him the back up. Oh maybe on paper, but not in reality.

Like I said, they let the back up go,that makes Quinn the back up. My point was a very simple one. No matter who goes,DA or Charlie, they shipped our back up down the river. Who is is our third stringer when they did that? Oh,that's right, his name is Brady Quinn!

They kept the back up untill they are ready for Quinn to be the back up. If this is true that Charlie's gone,EXACTLY WHAT I SAID happenned. Brady Quinn is ready to be thrown into the mix,or both Charlie and Da will be on our roster otherwise.

Dorsey had NO reps in pre season with the first string, sat out on whole pre season game. He's not our back up. Oh maybe for a week or two,on paper.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Wrong, JAX called on draft day trying to trade for Frye.

Again, if Savage didn't want CF why didn't he trade him then?

Why, b/c Savage doesn't know what he's doing.

So long Charlie Frye. This is a move that needed to be made. Dorsey is far more valuble compared to Frye for the simple reason that he will be a much better mentor to Brady Quinn. However I wish Frye the best of luck, in the right system I can see him being at least an adequate starting Q.B. but this is not the right system.
