If someone's allowed to say getting off of Gilligan's Island, or getting rescued from it,

Which I don't think they ever did, on that show, because it just seemed like they were going to, every time I watched, but it never happened;

Then I have no problem mentioning

There was a guy who played football for Polk High, Al Bundy, He scored four touchdowns in one game,

Not the whole season..

--- Actually it's plumbing ' Plumbing is the greatest accomplishment.

---

Vers' I think you should go with the thing that helped society the most,

the hardness of the accomplishment I don't think matters, just look at the pyarmids, they haven't done anything in millennia, and the Roman Colleseum which held events for nearly 500 years, hasn't done anything of note recently either.

After spoken language and the written word, I'd say domesticating animals.

Ancient man goes nowhere without the horse, unless they want to walk, pull the plow themselves, and not have a calvary.

And even more ancient man needed his dog guardians and hunting partners.

And having all that livestock sure beats hunting.

But the debate lives on: Ginger or MaryAnne?

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Just a general comment:

Ginger is 84:

Mary Ann is 80, and broke .... asking for people to contribute to help pay her bills:

Mrs. Howell:

Live the fantasy guys. wink

Seriously, though, all of you guys (along with your wives) who have kept your marriages alive and thriving, my heartfelt admiration, and congratulations. laugh

Way before my time, but I have watched the show. Mary Ann was way more attractive than Ginger.

Why do I even bother?

I post a tribute to mankind and it ends up a Gilligan’s Island retrospect.

Songs, music.

I could live without a refrigerator, a TV, and even indoor plumbing. I don't think I could be truly happy without music, though.

I remember when I spent 3 days in the hospital with a staph infection in my leg and they asked me "Would you prefer intravenous antibiotics, or some really good music followed by amputation of your leg?".

Just bagging on you, Lampy, no offense. wink

I gotta second this.

TV vs music - OK, Music over TV.
Refrigerator vs music - Tough. But, I gotta go with fridge.
Out house vs music. Not even close. Go use a spider infested out-house when it's 96 degrees outside. Let alone having to do it every single time you gotta use a toilet.

Haha, I get it. But my life without music in it?

sorry, I'm cooling my food and beers in the lake, lighting fires to keep warm, crapping in the best darn outhouse ever, and playing some tunes (Only would need electricity to get my amplifier humming). wink

I probably would rather live without music than TV at this point ... though, I really do enjoy listening to tunes while working out or driving

Today’s my father’s colonoscopy prep day too! (And I couldn’t agree more)

Yeah, nothing beats a two seater with cushioned seats. Of course it has to have a crescent moon carved in the door. Like that janky piece of crap Rocky posted actually represents the potential of an outhouse.

Know what makes an outhouse really spectacular? When it's inside, has AC, and running water... those are the best ones. You can still put a crescent moon on the door if you want.

All depends on what we're looking at here.

We could go with the basics like Language, Mathematics, Sciences (Evolution, Physics, Chemistry)

Or greatest single thing - Going to the Moon.

To me, that's our greatest achievement thus far besides those old school things.

But, we're quite incredible. I mean, in 240 BC some guy got really close to predicting the circumference of the earth by using the sun's angles in wells. The Pyramids in Ancient Egypt were built like 4500 years ago (only 1,000 years later than the development of written language). Issac Newton created Calculus to explain Physics. We've developed the internet, which allows us to virtually talk to anyone in the world in real-time. Connecting billions of us. Heck, just look at air travel. What used to be endless distances from place to place on opposite sides of the globe, can now all be reached in pretty much 24 hours.

The list goes on and on. Hopefully we figure out a way to not kill ourselves off before we accomplish even bigger things (sustainable societies on other planets/solar systems so we can virtually continue our specie's existence for long long periods of time.

I mean, we've been around for 200,000 years. The Earth's 4.5 billion years old. Dinosaurs existed for like 150 million years. In a short period of time, we've really made our mark. Doubt any dinosaurs made it to the moon or from all-over the world discussed sports on a message board, lol

I live to stumble across posts like this.

Not just here at DT, but virtually everywhere else I go, as I scuttle my way about the web.

Thanks, Petey.
