I think the Giants will be looking especially hard at other teams' cuts as training camps proceed.

Do you not remember; I'm sure you remember the history of the Browns.

We had 3 players injured on the same play before.

We didn't see Kellon Winslow play for 2 years missed after he was drafted.

We lost about 7 defensive linemen in some year way back round about the time they move to Baltimore or before, may have been all linebackers may have been all D linemen, can't recall.

We lost 3 Centers and were on a Week Of Signing to have an opening day starter at Center, about the year they signed LeCharles Bentley, who didn't ever play in a Browns game if I recall right.

So, since then, other teams injuries, hurting their seasons, doesn't really make me feel too bad for them, it's just things that happen,

Glad it's not the Browns. [s][/s]

It was weird that the Giants preached going young, then signed Golden Tate to a big deal anyways

I hate the injury season too

Coleman is the new "Man of Glass" award winner? That season-ender didna take too long.

I hate the injury season, especially early like this. Hope everybody gets better OK.

This sport has been taken over by injuries ... these guys are so big and strong and fast ... and every muscle and tendon and everything else can snap or pop is as tight as could be and has been worked hard in the training process ... *fingers crossed* ...

DERRICK HENRY
RB, TENNESSEE TITANS

Derrick Henry is in a walking boot after getting injured at Friday's practice.

Henry left practice early Friday and wasn't out there Saturday. Coach Mike Vrabel refused to provide an update when pressed this morning. The boot suggests Henry is dealing with some sort of ankle or foot issue, but details beyond that remain scarce. It could be minor. We'll just have to wait. Henry was an offseason puff-piece All Star after running roughshod through the entire league to close out 2018. He's expected to be the focal point of the Tennessee offense.

I'm not really sure of the injury, but both he and A.J. Browns are listed as day to day. So on the surface, it doesn't sound serious.

Quote:
The Titans back wasn’t the only player to come down with an injury on Friday. Wide receiver A.J. Brown also suffered an injury when he slipped during a drill, however he has been labeled as day-to-day by head coach Mike Vrabel. Henry got the same designation from the Titans head coach.

A.J. GREEN
WR, CINCINNATI BENGALS

A.J. Green is "believed to have suffered a sprained ankle" and he will have an MRI, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Other Bengals beat writers have also reported that Green is dealing with a sprained ankle, but the severity is currently unknown. Green did need a cart to come off the field and he was on crutches after the training staff treated him. This isn't to the same foot that ended his campaign in 2018, and hopefully there's nothing structurally wrong before his 31st birthday on Wednesday. There should be a more official update shortly.

All these injuries are probably because they are talking about adding another regular season game and has nothing to do w/guys not being used to the rigors of training camp.

A.J. GREEN
WR, CINCINNATI BENGALS

WLWT's Elise Jesse reports A.J. Green has escaped with a "low" ankle sprain.

If true, this is the best possible news after Green was carted off the field on Saturday. Even a low sprain could be a multi-week issue in the low-stakes setting of training camp, but it is quite possible Green could still get preseason reps. Barring a setback, he should be ready weeks in advance of Week 1. It appears crisis has been averted for the Bengals.

Too much light work and guys get hurt easy. These guys train to be fast and agile, in the past it was about getting used to the grind.

I like that Freddie isn't messing around and has these guys playing hard from the get go. Football shape, only comes from playing. Drills in shorts don't prepare you for the physical nature of the game.

Which division rival do I hate the most? Pittsburgh by far

In terms of the Bengals, I think Boyd has a good year regardless, but I’ve always liked Green as a player and would like to see him healthy at least

LOL

Exhibition games start in a week. How much better would it be to dump a few of those and add a real game. Guys wouldn't have to get in to full hitting for another week or two. Build up to it rather than start pretty much out of the gate.

On a side rant I have had for years, these goofy strength coaches are to blame for all the injuries.

Getting players muscles as taught as piano strings isn't natural. Players don't have much flexibility anymore. Get them as tight as possible, then snap, it's over.

The human body is supposed to have some fat. Muscles are supposed to have elasticity.

Still have a strength coach, but have a yoga instructor over him. Strength without the ability to bend and stretch isn't good.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

I agree w/that Peen .. there’s SO much focus on strength that it’s a fine line ... their bodies are like 4% fat and so quick twitched

I agree w/the yoga thing. Maybe not those weird yoga workouts, but the moves and positions that really help stretch your muscles, stimulate your nerves, ease stress and tightness.

I have actually started using some of these types of exercises on a daily basis because I've been having a lot of lower back pain. Most of it comes from my knees and hips being shot from playing sports. All of it is connected. Even your feet can cause back pain.

I really do think that stretching correctly has huge benefits for athletes. Long, slow stretches rather than the kind that make you bounce. Bouncing can have adverse affects on your body.

Maybe we should just cancel all of training camp and preseason so nobody has a clue what they're doing when the season starts. That would be a logical resolution.

Maybe getting in shape during training camp helps cut down on season injuries. Nah, it can't be.

DERRICK HENRY
RB, TENNESSEE TITANS

Pressed Sunday, Titans coach Mike Vrabel declined to provide a timeline for Derrick Henry's (lower leg) return.

The only information that Vrabel was willing to offer up was that the injury is to Henry's lower leg. That means it's his ankle or foot. Coaches are never exactly the most forthcoming during training camp, but Vrabel's extreme caginess is not a positive sign. At the very least, Henry would seem to be staring at a multi-week absence. Hopefully we gain clarity this week. It is hard for teams to keep a lid on this sort of injury for long.

Sounds like a high ankle sprain or something of the sort. He won’t get many (if any) reps until the opener

A.J. GREEN
WR, CINCINNATI BENGALS

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports A.J. Green will "likely" be sidelined for six to eight weeks.
The Bengals were hopeful that Green would miss only four weeks with a low ankle sprain, but an MRI revealed torn ligaments in his left ankle. Green isn't expected to have surgery, though he is getting a second opinion to confirm. With a six to eight week timetable for his return, Green is looking doubtful for the season opener and possibly beyond. Green is still a high-end receiver when healthy, but he has missed at least six games in two of the last three seasons. He'll likely miss one to three games with this injury, so Green is no longer a third-round target in fantasy drafts. Green will be 31 years old in 2019.

DERRICK HENRY
RB, TENNESSEE TITANS

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Titans are "not worried" about Derrick Henry's lower leg injury.

Titans coach Mike Vrabel declined to provide a timetable for Henry's return earlier today, but Rapoport indicates Henry's ankle or foot injury "should not be a big deal." With no incentive to rush him back, Henry could easily miss up to a few weeks in training camp depending on the exact injury, but it looks like he's not in danger of missing regular season action. Expect Henry to be the focal point of the Titans offense in 2019 after breaking out in the second half of last season.

Good-ish news for Green and the Bengals. Must be a really bad sprain

If your point was that players who haven't participated in any football activities other that OTA's since December are more prone to pull muscles because they're not in "football shape" it was a good point.

Otherwise it was pretty meaningless. I mean to this point they weren't even in pads.

So you're position is that circumstances have nothing to do with it?

The debate was about cutting down preseason games because of injuries and how many injuries occurred in camp if I recall. So being out of football shape has nothing to do with camp injuries? Is that what you're saying?

That we shouldn't factor in that the goal isn't to get them in football shape and injuries aren't more likely during the early process because players aren't in football shape? And most of these injuries are the garden variety sprains and pulls that occur from a lack of conditioning and not those season ending type injuries that occur during the season?

You amaze me sometimes.
