ben out This changes things. Looks like we only need to worry about the rats From nfl.com "Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be out for the season, the team announced Monday. "Roethlisberger had an MRI on his right elbow Sunday evening and it was determined by the Steelers' medical team that surgery will be required, coach Mike Tomlin said in a statement. "We expect the surgery will be scheduled for this week. He will be placed on our Reserve/Injured List and is out for the season." Around The NFL will have more on this story soon."

I also don’t think they’re totally screwed with Rudolph, but we’ll see
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Hard to see how this will play out.
Elbow surgery at his age is no guarantee.
Brees out 6 to 8 weeks. He also is no youngster.
Injuries in the NFL can change a season real fast.
We have two offensive tackles our starters who are average. And that is giving them the benefit of doubt. Our depth is scary at tackle. Kush is adequate and we have added some depth at guard.
We could get into some serious problems very easily.
Fingers crossed that we can avoid injury.
Rudolph? I liked him in college. He was accurate. But stepping into this role is a unknown.
One good thing he has going for him is the Steeler OL. They are very good.

I always want to play the Steelers with Ben vs. anyone else bc winning makes it that much sweeter.
This may be the end for Ben though.

No clue how Mason will do ... i watched that game yesterday (fiancé is from Pitt) and he looked very very good ... 3/4’s of one game is barely a glimpse ... but what i saw was very promising from the young buck ...
No way would i write them off quite yet ... it barely qualifies for a sample size but he looked real real good in that small sample size ...
i didn't think we had to worry about either team before the season started ... will be very curious to see how Lamar does against an actual NFL D and how we respond to last weeks debacle ...

Tim Couch had an elbow or arm injury that I think he couldn't come back from, a career ender. Qb's don't get a lot of elbow injuries, has anyone come back from one?
Doesn't a part of you just want to say out loud "Ben Roethlisberger's career is over."
I can't prove it, but, ok, Get well soon dude, Well enough for the broadcast booth.

Mason is going to get better as the season goes on.
Pittsburgh will not be a pushover as much as I wish they would be.

Every team has injuries. You play who you have.
How many times have the Steelers played against or 3rd or 4th string QB, it still counts as a win IIRC.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

Yup. That 'W' is still full credit; it will not count any less toward the final grade. I am more than Ok with the idea of getting easier Wins.
Browns is the Browns

This is more my line of thinking. Injuries are something every team has to deal with. It has happened to us, and I am not going to feel bad for another team who is facing the loss of a player. Part of the game. I do feel sorry for the player, but not the team.

Sorry, can't take the high road on this. Glad he's hurt, glad he's out, wish he'd go to jail.

Mason Rudolph knew of Ben Roethlisberger’s elbow trouble last week https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20..._medium=twitterThe Steelers announced on Monday that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will miss the rest of the regular season after an MRI taken on Sunday night determined he needs elbow surgery. Roethlisberger grabbed his right elbow after throwing a pass against the Seahawks in the second quarter of the game in what was the biggest outward sign of trouble before the team announced Mason Rudolph would be taking over. It appears that the team wasn’t taken totally by surprise by an elbow problem, however. Rudolph said on Monday, via multiple reporters, that he first heard about Roethisberger feeling discomfort in his elbow after the team’s loss to the Patriots in Week One. Roethlisberger did not practice last Wednesday, although the team’s injury report said that the reason was veteran rest rather than an elbow issue. The league may look into that bit of injury reporting given what Rudolph had to say on Monday, but the end result for the Steelers is going to be the same whether they get a slap on the wrist or not.

This is bad news for Pittsburgh and for our Browns.
This means our crushing them twice this year will have an asterisk* next to the victories.

It also means the NFL might investigate the lack of Ben on the injury report

The only thing that keeps this from totally sucking is the dolphins tank job. Hope the Steelers don't end up with Tua.

You seem to see it the way I do.
I don't like to see players injured. It is however a part of the game. It's something all teams and players usually have to deal with over time.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

we lost to a steelers team led by charlie freaking batch a while back.

I think my favorite "This is so Browns" moment was when we knocked Landry Jones out of the game and Big Ben had to come in and play on basically one foot. He didn't even have the game plan that day. He throws for close to 400 yards w/3 TDs and the Steelers beat the Browns 30-9.
LOL.........that seems like a story someone made up, but it happened to us.

We do have a much more talented team now, but unless they can be harnessed into working as a unit that won't make the difference.

Absolutely horrific. I'm in Pittsburgh today and people here are in shock. Th only good news is that Mason Rudolph looked OK yesterday. It's his team now, let's see what happen. Don't count the Steelers out yet.

What's this mean for us?? Lets worry about beating the hapless, Quarterbackless Jets tonight first. Knowing the luck of the Steelers Rudolph will light it up and they will have stumbled onto thier next Franchise QB for the next 15 years.

Thought that he played pretty well despite the loss yesterday. Helps our cause; hope he heals up OK. They were competitive. This is not a gimme pair of games.

Rudolph looked serviceable the other day. But this is in effect his rookie season and first action so the jury is out and nobody knows how good he may or may not be. I will say I liked him a lot coming out and would have been happy to have him as our back up.

Roethlisberger intends to honor 3 years left on Steelers contract https://www.thescore.com/nfl/news/1834692You have not seen the last of Ben Roethlisberger. Though the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback has been ruled out for the rest of the 2019 season due to an elbow injury that requires surgery, the 37-year-old doesn't plan to retire. Instead, he'll play out the remainder of his contract. "The Steelers committed three years to me this offseason and I fully intend to honor my contract and reward them with championship-level play," Roethlisberger said in a statement released on Monday. Big Ben signed a two-year, $68-million extension in April that will keep him with Pittsburgh through the 2021 season. For now, 2018 third-round draft pick Mason Rudolph will lead the Steelers' offense. But Roethlisberger hopes to return to his starting job after recovering from his injury. "I will do all I can to support Mason and the team this season to help win games. I love this game, my teammates, the Steelers organization and fans, and I feel in my heart I have a lot left to give," said the 16-year veteran.
"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." - Winston Churchill
