Here is where I disagree, hubbard didn't "get better" when FK took over, they just called better plays where the ball got out faster. he was still getting beat, the ball just wasn't there to take the sack.
Hubbard - in general is not good. You can cover up for a bit with playcalling, but he still stinks. We absolutely can use RG and RT.
We really miss Zeitler in the run game on that right side. Kush had a great block on the TD run...but he's not much of a run blocker...and Hubbard isn't close to being good-enough. Those two guys won't be hard to upgrade...could even be Teller/Forbes at the midpoint. Maulers...both of them. Oh, I believe it will be Forbes most def. AC being a bad pick has really hurt us. WE don't miss Zeitler if AC is half of what he was drafted to be.

There is plenty of season left to make some changes and get better. The idea is not to fall so far behind in the playoff chase that we can't get back into it. These next 5 games will determine a lot. I just hope we're not 2-5 or worse when we finish them. Right now 3-4 looks pretty good after 7 games.

Looking at our OL, I thought RG would be our bugaboo, but so far it’s been the RT (at least to me)... I think Hubbard is a bad player and we cant find a trustworthy 2nd TE to help him yet.
As for Tretter and Bitonio ... IMO they’re very good

That was kinda my point. Hubbard looked awful those first few games last year, and then started looking not so awful after the switch. I didn't state this, but he obviously didn't magically learn how to run/pass block during our coaching and QB switch.
If we want to run an offense that requires our o-line to be top-tier, then we do have a talent issue. It's more of a self-created talent issue, though... due to how we're executing our offense. We've shown last year that we can run AN offense (maybe not THE offense that Freddie/Monkin have in mind) with the guys we've got (and maybe an additional, competent TE).

The math here is pretty simple and I agree with you. If you execute a pass play withing two seconds, your OL doesn't need to be great. If your pass play takes four seconds to execute, you're going to need better talent.
That's more the issue I see here than anything else. You have a young QB who isn't going through post snap read progressions quick enough. That's nothing unusual for a young QB. Rather than having his short to intermediate targets being his first read, you have his first reads being the longer pattern WR's. Those take longer to materialize. By the time he realizes that they just aren't open, or while waiting for them to get open, those second and third reads are simply done too late.
I'm certainly not calling for a coaching change. Far from it. It's way to early in the process. But they are certainly going to have to understand what's going on here and make those short to intermediate targets his first read on a lot more plays if we plan to be fluid on O.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Well said, Pitt and I agree. The problem is: we have such high expectations and I don’t sense there will be much patience as we continue to have growing pains. While most on this board are smart enough to be more patient, many in the media, on social media, and across the country will destroy us and pressure us into making changes

I agree with most of that, but just want to point out that the stuff about his first read is all an assumption.
For all we know, the underneath stuff IS his first read, but his gunslinger mentality is stretching it to try to get the bigger plays.
Additionally, I think that what the announcers were saying about him being confused on the coverages may hold some water; i.e. expecting one thing before the snap yet seeing something else after the snap... by the time he realizes that what he thought might be there isn't going to be, that first read may have come and gone.
It's Week 2 of a new offense; it's way too early to panic, especially when we still managed to put up 23 points even with all the misfires. If we can eliminate those misfires and hit on all cylinders, it will get really scary for opponents really quickly.

You are certainly correct about my comments on his first read. Where I came to that conclusion was from watching where he was looking after the snap. That's the thing about a young QB. It's pretty easy to tell where they want to go with the ball by following who they are looking at.

Browns and Jalen Ramsey: They’re 1 of the top 5 contenders to trade for the CB, NFL Network reports Updated 5:00 PM; Today 3:59 PM By Mary Kay Cabot, cleveland.com BEREA, Ohio — The Browns are one of the top five contenders to trade for Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported. He said the Chiefs, Raiders, Eagles and Seahawks are the other top teams vying for the two-time Pro Bowler’s services. Ramsey’s agent, David Mulugheta, told ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen on Monday that his client wants out of Jacksonville. The Jaguars play the Titans tonight on NFL Network’s Thursday night football. Ramsey, the No. 5 pick out of Florida State in 2016, got in a shouting match with Jaguars coach Doug Marrone on the sidelines of their loss to Houston on Sunday. The two men had to be kept apart by players and coaches. League sources told ESPN that the Jaguars would be looking for at least a first-round pick but would likely want more. The Browns have 2018 No. 4 overall pick Denzel Ward, a Pro Bowler as a rookie, and 2019 No. 46 pick Greedy Williams starting at cornerback. Incidentally, both Ward and Williams were added to the injury report on Thursday with hamstring injuries. Starting safeties Damarious Randall (concussion) and Morgan Burnett (quad) haven’t practiced this week. Randall sat out the Jets game with a concussion and Burnett suffered the quad injury during the game. Ramsey, who arrived for training camp this year in a Brink’s truck, also wants a new contract, according to ESPN. In the fourth year of his rookie deal, the Jaguars picked up his fifth-year option, but he’ll be due for a big payday soon. The top cornerbacks in the NFL are averaging $15 million a year. The Browns would not only have to surrender most likely more than a first-rounder, they’d have to pay Ramsey an enormous contract when they’re already preparing for huge upcoming contracts for No. 1 overall picks Myles Garrett and Baker Mayfield, and Ward. Ramsey’s fight with Marrone wasn’t his first public scrape with the team. In 2016, he and former Browns safety Tashaun Gipson complained about the way they were being used. Ramsey also criticized the defensive scheme in the AFC Championship Game against the Patriots after the 2017 season. https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2019/09...rk-reports.html

Would you guys trade Denzel Ward and a 2nd round pick for Ramsey? No. Ward is in the second year of a potential five year rookie contract. Ramsey is in the fourth year (and the fifth year is the most expensive). This is interesting though. Where would he play if we kept both Greedy and Ward? I don't buy it.

That is the question that was driving my post. With Denzel, Greedy and Ramsey where do they all play. I used Ward as trade material because he seems to get easily hurt. I think Ramsey would be an upgrade in both coverage and the run game I forgot that Ward had a 5 year rookie contract, he was our 2nd pick in that draft so my mind went to 2nd round pick.

Ramsey is better than Ward, I don't think that's an argument. Can Ward or Greedy play in the slot? Can Ramsey play in the slot? If the trade was straight up Ward for Ramsey I might do it just because Ramsey is the clear better player.

j/c - I saw this posted in a tweet from Adam Shaffer ... if not for that I would not give any credence to Mary K.
I think it all depends on Jalen Ramsey the person. Is he a diva and a head case? I don't want that. We have enough with the characters we have in place already. If he is a professional - I'd trade Ward for him very easily. I think Ramsey is exceptional, more physical and doesn't have a concussion history.
If the math and contracts are viable for the growing list of home grown talent that we have and for JR - again, I'd do it.
It's interesting that Ward and Greedy are both talented CB's that lack the physique of JR - but Dorsey was more than happy to select both in the draft. So unless it's an injury concern - I don't know why Dorsey would want to trade them - and if that is the case it would have me concerned if I was Jax.
The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.

can we sell out for an offensive lineman first?

I wouldn’t trade for Ramsey .. adding him doesn’t really solve our problems IMO

Breer told Bull & Fox that it would take two #1 picks to get Ramsey from the Jags. That's too much, IMO, for a guy who plays what I consider a position of strength for the Browns (Denzel Ward / Greedy Williams / Money Mitchell). If we're trading - and the open roster spot indicates that something is happening - I hope its for OL or TE help.

Would you guys trade Denzel Ward and a 2nd round pick for Ramsey? That sounds like switching horses midstream; something you DON'T do. and a 2nd rd pick??? Detroit NO!
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

I can understand the apprehension around Freddie...sort of...as long as it's just apprehension, but Baker is going to be fine. The team and the fans need to start thinking long-term. I mean, Rothlisberger was pedestrian his first year to two. They developed him and gave him time.

It just irks me when fans live game to game.
If any player has a bad game, fans are ready to move on from that player.
I seemed to enjoy fandom more growing up as a kid waiting anxiously to get my Browns News Illustrated long before the internet existed.
The downright stupidity of a large percentage of fans sometimes makes things unenjoyable.

Rish, I don't wish that we trade for a new qb or coach. I just think all these trade talks are bizarre. It's more Fantasy Island crap. I was being sarcastic and no, I don't use purple.

I have read the reports that the Browns are one of teams in the Ramsey rumor.
I find it hard to believe for many reasons most of it financial.
Ward is in his second year. Greedy his first. So for a few years we have good corners at a low price. We have depth in Mitchell.
Ramsey is a good player. He signed a four year deal and will be a free agent in 2021. He wants to break the bank.
It is going to cost a bunch to get him in trade. A first round plus. So we will give a lot to get him and it is going to cost a bunch of money to keep him.
Money we will need to sign players like Schobert and others.
It doesn't seem to match up.
Maybe Dorsey sees it differently?

I think it would be dumb as hell for the Browns to trade for Ramsey.
If you remember, he was one of the guys I was considering had we not traded down in the draft. Bosa and Zeke were the other two. So, I really think that Ramsey can ball.
With that said, the Jags want a first round pick and more. We already have 4 good corners. Ramsey arrived to TC in a freaking Brinks truck and wants paid NOW.
Thus, it would cost us multiple draft choices and we would have to pay him as the highest paid corner in the league. This does not sound feasible to me. Thus, my earlier sarcasm.

Nah, unlike you, I don't bad mouth Browns.
Hey, we all get it You don't like Freddie cause he took your buds job. You don't like baker either for some stupid reason.
And dude, you don't get to skate by with your attempt at subtlety.

Would Ramsey be just another corner that's really good in man that we would then have playing zone? Don't we already have enough of those?

I'd take Ramsey of Ward any day. Ward is playing lazy and scared this year.plus he's always hurt, including this week. Potential doesn't win games.. Meanwhile Greedy is doing very well for a rookie and in the top when it comes to coverage. If its coming to playing zone/man...if we have man personnel on the backend...why the hell would you play zone..our front 7 is good, the secondary is still a question mark, if it comes down to putting the players back into the scheme that plays to their strength why wouldn't you.. I hate seeing corners playing 10 yards off LOS.. Give me a physical corner that will knock receivers off their routes and screw with the timing of the offense anyday
