The FBI has arrested a U.S. soldier who allegedly discussed plans to bomb a major American news network, planned to travel to Ukraine to fight with violent far-right group Azov Battalion and allegedly distributed information online on how to build bombs. He also allegedly suggested targeting Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke.

According to charging documents in the case, Jarrett William Smith, who transferred to Fort Riley, Kansas, in July, joined the U.S. military only after first expressing his desire to fight in Ukraine.

On Aug. 19, 2019, Smith allegedly spoke with an FBI informant in an online chat group and discussed a plan for an attack inside the U.S., his search for more "radicals" like himself, and the possibility of killing members of the group Antifa.

In suggesting that the headquarters of the major news network could be a target, Smith allegedly said: "A large vehicle bomb. Fill a vehicle full of [explosives] then fill a ping pong ball with [commonly available chemical] via drilling then injection. Put the ball in the tank of the vehicle and leave. 30 minutes later, BOOM."

Then, in a Telegram conversation with an undercover FBI agent on Sept. 20, Smith allegedly had this exchange:

FBI: You got anyone down in Texas that would be a good fit for fire, destruction and death?SMITH: Outside of Beto? I don't know enough people that would be relevant enough to cause a change if they died.

Smith had allegedly been in communication with another American, Craig Lang, who traveled to Ukraine and fought with another far-right group, the Right Sector.

They were in contact since 2016. On Dec. 8, 2018, Smith allegedly led a group chat on Facebook with Lang that included discussing Smith's ability to build bombs.

Smith allegedly said, "Oh yeah, I got knowledge of IEDs for days. We can make cell phone IEDs in the style of the Afghans. I can teach you that."

Smith was arrested on Sept. 21, and he allegedly admitted to the FBI that he provides people online with instructions for building bombs.

According to charging documents, at least one of the instructions he allegedly provided in recent days would not have resulted in a viable explosive device.

He has been charged in Kansas with distributing information relating to weapons of mass destruction.

I think he's saying "And that's a bad thing?" to the first part of the statement "The FBI Arrested" not the second part "Bombing a new agency".

But I could be wrong.

That's certainly what he's doing. Totally ignoring the first part.

We have a president saying the media is "the enemy of the people". Saying that liberals "hate America".

Then when someone acts upon those words, only crickets.

The only retort is "It's a good thing they caught they guy!"

It's pretty basic, really. A guy made threats, the FBI arrested him. That's good. I said "fbi arrested him. Isn't that how it's supposed to work?"

You and pit. geesh. If my statement wasn't clear enough for you, here: The FBI arrested someone that threatened to bomb an american news network. That is a BAD thing to do (and let me clarify THAT: Threatening to bomb anyone anything is a bad thing. Ok?)

And when I ended with "And that's a bad thing?" - it was in regards to the FBI arresting someone that made a threat. As in, "that's a good thing." That's a good thing is a statement. "and that's a bad thing?" with a question mark, is literally saying the same thing, in question form.

Let's look at a few facts here arch and maybe that will help you see what, from your comments, seem to be what you are missing.

According to Trump, the people committing these violent acts are "the mentally ill".

So he makes comments like, "the liberal media are the enemy of the people" and "liberals hate America!"

So maybe if he wasn't busy trying to trigger the mentally ill they wouldn't be doing things the FBI needed to be "catching" them for.

You don't support someone who uses hate speech to divide and trigger people then pretend you can't comprehend what's actually going on here.

Sadly, I think you really believe that it's trumps fault. Anything you don't like recently, is Trumps fault. Yet, I never heard you blame any other president for loonies doing stupid things in the past.

I think feeding into and saying things that may set off those who are mentally imbalanced may or may not lead to such things. You seem to refuse to admit that's a strong possibility.

Your opinion seems to be that we should address the situation after it becomes a situation. My opinion is we should avoid adding ingredients that may help lead to them in the first place.
