Alabama's defense is getting absolutely punked.

Maybe play better teams, and then you'd be ready for a game like this, LOL.

overrated.

gonna be great not seeing them in the playoff

They still have a shot because the committee loves their name, but I agree they shouldn't make it.

If you give up 46 in a loss at home, that should disqualify you from the playoff.

They have a shot because the refs will probably see to it.

Wow

Way to early to be proclaiming anyone in or out ... lots of football left to be played ....

U guys are legite ... no doubt .... you’ll go undefeated and through no fault of your own beaten no one ... you’ll need to win two games all year and can win it all ... no problem with that at all ... u didn’t make the system your just playing in it ... good luck in the tourny ...

but lets say u lose a game to any team on your schedule .... if bama wins out they should get in over u guys cause of who they lost too compared to who u lost too ... neither team will have any real quality wins but there loss will be against a heck of a lot better team than u lost too ...

In hoops they do the ACC/Big 10 challenge ... wish they could do that in football and do an SEC/Big Ten challenge .... that’d be great ... thumbsup

Ohio State, which I assume you're talking about, has wins over #13 Wisconsin and #17 Cincinnati. They have only one real dog poo game left next week at Rutgers.

They then have Penn State, who is obviously going to drop a little bit after their loss today (shouldn't be that much considering it was on the road to an undefeated Minneosta team).

They then have Michigan, who is still a ranked opponent.

Then likely a date with a good opponent in the Big Ten title game should they get there. Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa are all ranked.

Alabama has no wins over ranked teams, and only has Auburn left. They are also not likely to be playing in their conference championship.

So I don't get the jilted attitude towards OSU, other than you just don't like them.

So now what?

1. LSU
2. OSU
3. Clemson
4. ??

Yeah, I see the top 3 definitely lining up like that Tuesday, but that 4th spot could be any number of teams. Georgia, Oregon, Oklahoma, etc.

Minnesota would be quite the jump, but that was a huge game for them today. I think they crack the top 6 or 7 though.

My guess too. Just shows you how top heavy this year's crop of teams are. After those top 3, there is a mess of teams.

Georgia has not been impressive this year, and doesn't really pass the eye-test as a top 4 team, but their preseason ranking has definitely helped them this year. Perception is huge.

MSU was also ranked at the time they played, but I know that doesn't look like a quality win with the way they have played.

But anyway, rankings don't matter. You're not a quality opponent unless you play in the SEC. wink

lol

Can't take any credit for the MSU win. It's filler at this point, they have not been very good all year.

I do get a chuckle every time I hear that LSU has "3 top ten wins" as if Texas didn't go completely in the tank.

I really really really hate preseason rankings. It allows teams who have not done a damn thing to slot themselves early, that way they don't fall that far when they lose.. Don't get me wrong, Ohio State is one of those teams that benefits from it as they always have a high preseason ranking, but yeah, the SEC has more perceived good teams every year, before any actual football has been played.

This playoff committee is all about resume though, which I appreciate. I think they do their best not to get sucked in by perception, but it's unavoidable because of the way the sport is covered. We love those little ranking numbers next to the teams playing on the screen.

I do think this year could be the committee's toughest job. Right now if things go as people believe, and the teams that are supposed to win do, you'd have Ohio State, Clemson, and LSU in for sure. Leaving the 4th spot with a heap of teams. That's why I don't think any teams that don't win their conference are getting in. You will 100% need that extra game to boost your resume.

We'll see what happens. It wouldn't surprise me to see tOSU remain at #1 ...... and it wouldn't surprise me to see LSU jump tOSU.

I think that tOSU crushing a conference foe by almost 60 points should count for something. That really is how Bama got/stayed at the top of the polls.

As far as them staying in the top 4 ... or really, even the top 10 .... they will need a lot of help, because their remaining schedule isn't much help for them. They play 4-5 Mississippi State .... a division 1AA Western Carolina ... and 7-2 Auburn. I just don't see enough there top prop them up without a ton of help.

It should, but I think LSU's win today should put them firmly at 1 for now.

As an OSU fan, I don't really care that much, because I think they know what they need to do to get in, whether they get in at 1, or 4, it doesn't really matter. You'll be playing a good team regardless.

People who complain about the SEC are just jealous.

I was at a large sports bar this evening. There were folks rooting for both sides, but exactly zero of them were rednecks. SEC fans, sure.

It sounds like someone in this thread is butthurt for whatever reason.

Nope. I just think that some of their fans are pretty laughable.

I actually love watching SEC football. Today's game was enjoyable.

But literally when Georgia loses as 28 point favorites at home, and the excuse is "South Carolina is a good team" I just have to point and laugh at that, and make as much fun of that take as humanly possible.

I mean, nobody moves the goalposts like SEC fans, you know that!

So giving credit where credit is due when you lose is a bad thing?

You are definitely butthurt about something.

Oklahoma almost managed to grab defeat from victory.
