Most offensive staffs have someone in the box relaying coverages and such.
My top 2 .... of those who have interviewed, are Saleh .... and .. (I can't believe I am saying this) McDaniels.

If yesterday's game between the 49ers and Vikes was a head to head test of which HC candidate could better lead his squad, Saleh won. If the Browns make a decision as important as this based on a one game sample, then they are even dumber than I thought they were. I don't think anyone is suggesting that. Are you? However in a very close process and decision - would how the two coaches performed in a head to head match up be something to dismiss entirely?

Based on little and not disagreeing with you. Just a simpler dumb lineman consideration. Of the remainder list, which one of these candidates would best fire you up and suit up to go to war with him. For me, it would be Saleh hands down. maybe there is no place for a scorching kind of coach anymore. But I have said we showed more complacency than I expected last year, partially due to over 30 giveaways and dumb play calling. And no real leader emerged.
Saleh might be able to forge something special if he brings us some fire. We have good candidates left overall, so I am trying to look for a strong "extra" that might help us. I think Saleh works well with a Shanahan-type detail-oriented perfectionist handling the overarching structure. I'm not sure he could handle all the non-rahrah stuff on his own. I'd love someone like him to pair with a McDaniels-type.

I really like Schwartz but that Andy reid coaching tree is the one that has produced quality head coaches. Would anyone be upset if we went the Bieniemy route?

At this point, I'm happy with whoever we decide. I just want a coach who is going to be the HC, and not a coordinator. I don't want the HC calling plays.

I have Bieniemy as my number two behind Saleh. At the start McCarthy was my number one.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that. Are you? Did you notice I was replying to a previous post suggesting that?

No. I think the post you replied to did not suggest the decision should be based on the game. That's why I responded.

After today I am wondering why we aren't interviewing the OC and DC of the Titans! That is the kind of football we should be playing. Great defense and RUN THE BALL. We have Chubb AND Hunt. We have the start of a really good D. We play in the AFC North. Defense and running the ball are really important. Haven't you heard? That kind of football doesn't work anymore. You must not read the board. Here's what the board says just as a refresher...... "It's a passing league now." "You must have the hybrid QB now that is both a big run threat and a great passer. It's the wave of the future." After having heard that ad nauseam we watched what many would call an NFL old school team beat the snot out of what so many claim to be the wave of the future by passing a total of 15 times the entire game for a total of 83 yards and running the ball 37 times.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

We have two outstanding RB's if the Browns did want to play smash mouth football. Chubb is as good as any back in the NFL - Hunt is right there with him. . . . Elite backs in the NFL (I'm bound to miss one) Chubb, Hunt, Kamara, Zeke, McCaffrey, Barkley .... Gurley (maybe), Josh Jacobs (maybe).

I certainly agree with you. But trying to explain to people that type of strategy will work in the modern day NFL has been an uphill battles to say the least. In fact someone on this very board gave me a little lecture about it just yesterday.
