Is Jimmy Haslam still the owner?

I'd be OK with this hire if I thought the Haslams were going to give him the 4-5 years he needs to set everything up and make things work, but thats not going to happen.

We needed a coach that was going to win RIGHT NOW

Only 4 coaches available fit that criteria:

1. Rivera
2. McCarthy
3. McDaniels
4. Caldwell

All the other guys needed time, which again is OK if your going to give it to them, but there is no way Haslam gives KS the time he needs. He has a track record of blowing things up all the time.

If the Browns were already a team coming off a 10 or 11 win season or something then yeah you could hire a guy like KS and it would probably work out with stable ownership like you see in Pitt or Baltimore...but we all know...Haslam is not going to give KS the time he needs to succeed.

Wouldn't count on it. I think a different approach will be taken.

I think it's a Dave Shula --esq. hiring, and i'll try and support it as best as I can,

Seemed, Daboll, and Josh Mcdaniels whatever of New England, had more solid resumes', and so did much of the other's listed, (except Bienemy)

I could even be more excited about Saleh, he's an unknown,

I'll try and support this, We all Know how it will turn out.

It's going to be great except on Sundays, blah.

I think we don't know the levels of incompetence Freddie Kitchens reached.

Call it like I see it. He is expressing opinion as fact.

It's one thing to express concern. It's another to gripe about everything. If it's that miserable, why bother?

After the past 20 years, what would give you that opinion?

I mean as of now we hired a HC with exactly one year at the OC position. So that seems par for the course. What do you base anything else has changed on?

This .... I said Freddie was worse than Hue (imo) and to be worse than the worst HC in NFL history is mind boggling.

Pit, I think Jimmy is 1. Sick of losing. and 2. Finally realized that he pays DePo well so he may as well listen to him.

I hope he does great. I’m personally not pleased nor displeased. As for his OC abilities/play calling abilities, I hope we never find out because he hired a good OC who calls the plays.

Look at Vrabel as an example. He lets his coordinators do their thing, and watches the ebb and flow of the game. Who is to say that Stefanski won’t be able to do that?

Edit: Vrabel had one year as a DC before becoming an HC. FYI.

I wasn't going to post again, but I remembered.

The last time I was this upset and worked up on this board, was the day the Browns Drafted Nick Chubb.

So maybe it's a good thing.

Go to bed with that on your mind. Relax...listen, this organization has apparently not leaked a bit of info it didn't want out so far through this process. THAT is tremendous change for this group! I see it as a positive after the last few years!

They fired everyone. They're just starting to rehire.

There's basically nobody in the building that CAN leak info.

Cleveland.com is reporting it was down to Saleh and Stefanski. The decision came down to Stefanski's time and job done with QB's.

The entire front office is intact except for John Dorsey.

JD and Highsmith (and Kitchens, obviously). I also counted at least 2/3 coordinators even though they're technically not fired yet. Plus keeping in mind the players are on off-season, so only spending the minimum (if that) in the building.

It's a relative ghost town in there.

I see a big difference between Stefanski and Kitchens...

For all the depo detractors this should be good news. If this move fails, chances are depo will be gone. I don’t think it will though. Going to depend on the staff

We need a new Baker commercial, following up on his, “party at home” commercial. Starting where the last one left off, with the messy stadium, only this time tossing the vacuum to Stafanski saying, “since you live here now, you can pitch in.”

Two things: if our O resembles the Shanahan/SF offense AND Stefanski can garner respect and discipline, this will work

I feel like it's a pretty good sign that Stefanski was watching film and saw the Kubiak offense and was basically like, "That works. I should do that."

The bad sign is that Jimmy Haslam is still the owner.

How do you know....the Browns have a lot of full time employees. Most of the coaches are still under employ. All of the scouts, scouting directors, etc.

The Dorse isn't there and Freddie isn't there. Other than that I haven't heard of any releases.

Who has been released? I haven't seen any reports of people being released. Please send me a link. I must have missed it.

Great. Since Depo is so smart HE can be the GM and do all the roster work. *snicker*

I have no idea if Stefanski will be a good HC. No one does. But I know he was nowhere NEAR the best-qualified candidate. I have to wonder why they even bothered interviewing anyone else aside from the Rooney rule minority? They knew they were going to hire Stefanski all along.

I sure hope he can draft well and knows how to sign free agents. He has a lot of holes to fill and he's never done it before.

They were waiting on the coaching hire and now that he is in place HE will pick his "GM" though we all know how that works. He will be doing the drafting and FA signing. Remember Mangini? You think any really good GM candidate will want to come here and work UNDER a coach? Especially after Dorsey got canned for bringing in more talent than this team has had since the return. If that doesn't keep you here nothing will. So you can be sure any GM knows he won't be here long no matter how well he does his job and he has to answer to the head coach so he has no real power.
