Some reasons gun rights are having a problem is you have a bunch of gun nuts walking around state capitals dressed like paramilitary groups scaring the hell out of soccer moms and people using assault rifles killing their kids at schools. Shooting up Walmarts doesn't help either.

I'm a proponent of the second amendment and that's why I'm tired of seeing gun nuts out there hurting a cause I hold dear.

Look at the police and the vehicles they drive. They don't look paramilitary?

Well let's debate this for just a minute.

Do you actually believe that people having huge gatherings in state capitals carrying military style rifles, dressed in paramilitary gear helps the cause of gun rights? You don't think that scares the crap out of a lot of people? It only helps instill more fear in those wishing to limit those rights.

But here's the rub in all of this. You are a lawyer. You are fully aware of how all of this works. While I'm not a lawyer, I have made it my responsibility to learn how the constitution works. That's why I'm rather perplexed by your alarmist style posts. It's a very difficult thing to ever turn over a constitutional amendment. There is no threat of the second amendment going away. Here are the steps it would take to accomplish this as you well know......

A proposed amendment to the Constitution must first be passed by Congress with two-thirds majorities in both the House and the Senate.

Then, three-fourths of the states must ratify the amendment. That’s done either through getting the state legislatures to approve of it or by ratifying conventions. Three-fourths is a high bar–if as few as 13 states refuse to approve the change, the amendment stalls. Considering how many states are considered gun-friendly, the amendment would never survive.

The other option for repealing the Second Amendment is more radical: Calling for a Constitutional Convention under Article V of the Constitution (a.k.a. an “Article V convention“). If two-thirds of the state legislatures call for a new convention, they could convene delegations and start drafting new amendments. It’s understandably a controversial idea, but arguably could be a way to repeal the Second Amendment.

These things aren't happening as you already well know.

And as much as you wish to use a one liner to avoid the topic, you do know the difference between communism, socialism and a democracy that embraces certain socialist policies.

But it's nice to see you aren't willing to have an actual serious debate about it.

I have no idea why you brought the police into the topic unless you are eluding to the fact that if a civil uprising occurs people need to be armed well enough to go up against the police.

Maybe a bit over the top but I stand by the general premise. This woman voted for a man she felt aligned with her politically. Then recoiled when she found out he loves someone of the same sex. One has nothing to do with the other. She’s been exposed for her bigotry. I have little remorse. I hope she finds it within herself to examine her thoughts and beliefs and find what’s of true importance in such political matters. I hope her bigotry falls away. As I hope for all bigots.

As for you being creeped out by trans people, is that a repressed desire or social awkwardness? You just never know with you GOPers. Here's the thing, we are all people. If you are a Christian, you are supposed to love others and be accepting. If you are just a non-believing person, you are still supposed to be accepting of others. There are lots of things that creep you out until you learn to understand them. If you don't have the time or desire to understand them, then just live and let live. It's not that hard.

If slugs grossed you out, how would you feel about a slug in Boston that you will never see in real life? Or one that you read about but will never see in real life?

Diversity is pretty much the same thing, you will probably never be exposed to radical diversity in your day to day life. You might run across a trans individual here and there, but you aren't going to invite them into your home and break bread with them are you? So why are you creeped out?

As for Transgenders, you're right . I don't have to deal with them but I do sometimes and its not a problem. I just don't want to live with them, Shower, sleep ect. Why don't you and Pit adopt a few of them. You can go shoe shopping together.

I did not serve, but various family members and my best friend all served. They all repeated something very similar over the past 10 or so years. I found it interesting that, while they didn't word it the same way, their thoughts on the matter were VERY similar.

The military is not the place for a social experiment.

While the intention behind being more inclusive and diverse is good, forcing these types of edicts onto a military that argues they will hurt lethality is a bad move.

Wasn't intended to go there at all. I'm talking about everyday life, not military life.

On a lighter note, I wonder if the Bernie campaign, if he wins, would do the socialist thing and give some of his votes to the others that didn't get as many.

The polling was way off on 50% of top candidates. I expected Bernie to do well, but hats off to Pete because I had him all but out after Iowa.
