"We're all going to get mailed a prompt to fill out the census in the next two weeks or so," she said Thursday on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” "And so I think what’s really important is that we all fill this out. It happens once every 10 years.”

“Every single person, no matter your documentation status, no matter your housing status, income, etc., is to be counted,” she said, before assuring viewers that the data included is “completely confidential” and not shared with other agencies.

“So don’t worry if you’re having a creative living situation, it’s not going to be told to your landlord or anything crazy like that,” she added.

Yet nothing she said was wrong. Funding is based on population and the very reason for the census is to get an accurate count of the population.

The census also determines funding and money from the government based on the population right??? If it does why should illegals be able to collect more money for the area they live in while legal residents lose money because of them?

Pit is correct and the Liberal Democrat Sanctuary Cities/States have successfully gamed the system at our Nations Citizens expense.

Your point means nothing. Everyone is a part of the population. Everyone is supposed to answer the census. NOWHERE does it say illegals are not supposed to fill out the census. Only you and your kind feel they should pretend they're not here by refusing to fill out the census.

I'm not sure what part of "counting the population" you are missing here.

Yet the census which is supposed to "count the population" has been a part of "the system" since 1902. Only you would try and make it sound like someone gamed the system.

Because the law requires a count of ALL people living there. It's not rocket science. The law doesn't say all people except those here illegally or immigrants... There kids go to school and they pay taxes. But anything you can do to be hateful because that's the GOPer credo.

Does the official definition of population mean everyone or just US citizens?

I don't know the ramifications, but if areas loaded with illegals receive more federal funding for emergency services, road maintenance and social programs at the expense of citizens residing in other areas, I have a real problem with this.

Then you should ask your legislators to change the law. As it is written now, this is the legal way to do it; count every soul.

It means everyone living in The United States. Actually Trump tried to put an obstacle in the way of illegals filling out the census by adding the question of citizenship to the census in hopes it would create fear among the illegal population so they would not complete the census and it was struck down by the SCOTUS for that very reason.



I certainly feel there is a debate to be had over this. One could also look at it that you would be punishing legal citizens from those areas by denying them services because illegals live in their areas.

I don't have an answer for that. As for this discussion, the objective of the census is to count everyone living in The United states. As such, everyone within our borders is supposed to be counted.
