this many sporting events cancelled all but guarantees more people switching to other distractions and I'm just not mentally prepared to return to a world of 24x7 "Survivor"-style shows on the networks.

Yesterday was the 2nd largest single-day increase in new cases, ever.
The only day outstripping it is the day China broadened its criteria and had 15,000 new cases in one day.
Yesterday, the world had 7,300 new cases, nearly tripling the number of recoveries for the same period.

If you can, figure out how to mod it into a sci-fi game, then a sports-themed one, etc... play the numbers game; re-use the underlying engine that drives the data.

Also, I don't know how many preppers there are on this board. I have been through disasters before and learned to stock supplies. It gets very scary very fast.
I already had a stash, but I went the grocery store today and bought a bunch of stuff. And I'm going back tomorrow. Then I will just hunkerdown. Because this is going to go sideways pretty soon.
And if I get sick I won't be able to go to the grocery store. So, please be prepared.

I stocked up on most dry goods and things a little over two weeks ago, but I'll be making another bulk run soon. I'm probably going to buy up a ton of meat and things for the freezer, too.
I'm banking on this not affecting water & power -- I just don't see that happening, so I'm not getting TOO crazy with it. I'm a single guy living alone, so the bulk pack of toilet paper I got 5 months ago is still probably enough to carry me to December.
Ammo is getting delivered today.

It makes sense... people still need to get places, still have to get food, still need access to medicine, etc... .and, we can't limit religion.
Something to remember: the sorts of lockdowns you are seeing in Italy and elsewhere likely would not pass legal muster here in the U.S.
