No, KC got him at 10. I believe they traded up for him.

Wanna guess who the GM was when they drafted Mahomes?

Sashi .... rofl ...

That was exactly my guess.

He suffered an ugly one though. That was hard to look at.

Wow ... with those 2 alone its a GREAT QB CLASS ...

Meanwhile my boy Mitch is struggling mightily ... another ooops .. *L* ...

Given hindsight, Mahomes should have been the first overall pick. He is the best player in the league right now and viewed as a generational talent. Some are already talking about him ending up as the GOAT. That's incredible given his age.

I do give the FO a pass for not drafting him w/the first overall pick. I don't think analysts were talking about him going first overall. He was off the board when the Browns were on the board at 12. He went 10th and KC did the smart thing and picked him. Dorsey was the GM at the time. He listened to one of his staff members who was completely sold on Mahomes.

I do fault the FO for not taking Watson at 12, though. Imagine him throwing to OBJ and Landry, w/Chubb and Hunt in the backfield?

Mistakes like that can really hurt a franchise. The old adage is if you don't have a QB, you take one until you do find your guy.

I agree that Mahomes would have been a great pick at 12, that would have been the greatest drat ever 1. Garrett 12. Mahomes but I disagree on Watson, not a fan ... JMHO

I don’t believe that many of us thought Mahoney would turn into what he has turned into. I don’t regret us getting jumped by KC, never think about it.

I don't believe Patrick Mahomes was available at 12.

Mahomes was my top QB of the draft but I wanted him at 12 and didn't want to trade up for a QB that year ... no matter how high anyone was on Mahomes you couldn't expect him to be the best or one of the best 2-3 QB's in the NFL within 2 years.

The pick for us, at the time, was Hooker (FS that went to Indy). We traded out of 12 (I believe so Houston could draft Watson) and we eventually picked Peppers near the end of the round.

Don't worry, not you. I am not going to name names.

I admit, I do have friends in low places and go there once in a while.

I mostly try to stay on the up and up.

I am pretty happy with what we did today, as most fans are as well. We picked up some good players who can help us win.

We are building, not trading for future picks. Berry is picking up right were John left off.

That is a positive, right?

I take it as a positive the Moneyballers,or the Harvard Guys aren't doing what some thought.

Some made it sound like being Harvard educated was some sort of negative. You are a smart person.

You know a degree from Harvard is pretty impressive.

I can only think of possibly one. Maybe you read between the lines too much?

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Yeah, I think it's been a very good day for the Browns. I'm really excited that Berry went after big-time players. I was worried that he would pull the crap the FO did when he was here earlier.

But no, he was aggressive and is more like Dorsey than the other group. Our window is now. I was a bit shocked by us making Hooper the highest paid TE, but he is a very good player and the market evolves. I get it.

I'm very happy w/the job that Berry did today!

I'm not sure how everyone is defining "Highest Paid Tight End"

Hooper is 3 years 24 mil with 10 mil guaranteed.. Graham is 2 years 16 mil with 9 mil guaranteed. Both average 8 mil per year, but proportionally, Graham's guarantee is a higher percentage of the yearly cost.

I'm defining it by referencing multiple reports that stated that he was now the highest paid TE in the league.

Btw.........your use of purple in two posts in different threads was pretty freaking lame.

but..............but...........but.

I would say we are about the same age .. I'm retired at full retirement age ..and have been a Browns fan since 1962. The purple was to show sarcasm, and the but .. but .. but was a creative license. I have worked in Television, been a coach and a script writer, as well as a photographer. I have even won awards for my Television commercials and PSAs. So I believe I am every bit as capable of posting on a message board as anyone else on here. I posted the contract numbers as a statement .. because I read what was written. Sorry if my posts offend you, but it really doesn't matter ..

Okay. I actually think you make a lot of good posts. I just don't get why you went there w/the sarcastic posts. I don't remember you doing that when guys like device, WSU, and Memphis were saying Dorsey left the Browns a mess. I don't remember you saying that when those guys kept stating that Landry was overpaid.

So, what gives?

Btw.........I am just stating my opinion, as well.

I think those dudes are far more whacked than those who have questioned the analytic guys.

I don't know if it will happen or not, but it is at least still on the table.

I think it came down to Schobert wanting to test the market. He didn't get any first day bites, so that brings what we might be offering back in to play. They were looking at 11-12 a year. I think we were leaning more towards 8 or so.

I think we are now on the same page and can have honest dialogue.
