Some if not all of it will return at some point.. I think long term, you will be fine.

The medical bed shortage, medical equipment shortage, and medical staffing shortage is due to cutting everything to the bone in the name of profits. Socialized medicine and affordable education would have helped a lot right now.

Working class people taking home a bigger slice of the pie and not being $400 away from disaster when crap hits the fan would have helped now too.
Not arguing with you - honest question. Doesn't Italy have socialized medicine? Its not working out for them, why would it be different here?

Yes they do and under normal conditions it's much cheaper there. As to why they are overwhelmed during this crisis, I have no clue. But America has one of the lowest numbers of hospital beds per capita due to profit motives and things being cut tight to drive those profits. If we get hit like Italy comparatively, it will be much worse here. Although FEMA, the Military, and calling medical personal out of retirement might alleviate that somewhat.

Because it actually has nothing to do with the system. It's far more about containing and mitigating the situation. The United States does have slightly more beds per million people than Italy does. So that does give us a slight advantage.

Otherwise the outcome will be the same in every nation when the virus spreads to the point that patients outnumber beds.

It's why everyone talks about stretching it out so the peak number of patients doesn't overwhelm our capacity for care. It's not about the care people are receiving. It's about how many people need care in certain places.

Once and if there are too many people to care for, even our healthcare system will have to make choices about who lives and who dies.

No we don't.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_hospital_beds

And under MC4A with free college there would be more healthcare pros. Profit margins don't allow for over staffing.

I feel better too getting out early and having the cash on hand vs. letting it ride for however long in hopes you get it back. Gambling 101.

Wilki is nowhere to base your numbers on....

https://www.statista.com/chart/21105/number-of-critical-care-beds-per-100000-inhabitants/

You will find different answers in different places. I'm not sure there is actually an accurate number out there.

You don't think we didn't? We still are not testing.

In Wv, last I checked - they tested 39 people.

In Pittsburgh, UPMC had to come up with their own test because the government doesn't have enough.

I saw a stat that said something like 1 in 5 million people on average are able to get tested.

We are clsing things down, because we got blindsided.

We’re about to find out the hard way.

It’s ALWAYS the hard way in this country....

I'm leaving everything as is; I'm only losing value, not money.
When this is over, and everything rebounds, I'll have been paying into my 401k at these rock-bottom rates and things will explode back.

I agree it was stupid to not include all of those types of businesses at the outset, but at least they've been included now.

Trump gave himself a 10 out of 10 on how he handled the virus so far.

I can’t even be mad at him anymore. I’m looking at all the people who voted for him.
