A woman I've known since middle school is currently hospitalized with respiratory issues. She's had asthma-type issues her whole life, and frequently has needed steroidal treatments to get through things.
She was hospitalized because the treatments she takes at home weren't working. Then, despite her being a nurse, they refused to test her initially because she didn't meet the overly-stringent criteria that included "known contact with someone that recently travelled to a hotspot country or was known to have tested positive".
Dumbest criteria, ever. Who the Hell is supposed to know that about anyone you've been in contact with???
Thankfully, after her Flu A, Flu B, and RSV results were all negative... breathing treatments and steroids for over 24 hours and she was feeling worse and not breathing better, they finally decided to test her after the testing criteria was amended on the 13th. She is still awaiting results, and still waiting for improvement in her breathing.

Italy is in a dire state right now Spain is tipping over into it now, too. They are running about a week to ten days behind Italy. It's like a runaway engine.

Has West Virginia even tested anybody? I just saw that they've tested a total of like 40 people. Literally. DeWine just announced that all bars and restaurants are closed in Ohio as of 9pm tonight. Carry-out & delivery are still Ok.

I have a weird type of asthma that can go bonkers when hit with a viral infection. I can keep it in check if I catch it quickly and hit it with strong doses of steroids and aerosol treatments, and I've gotten quite good at it. I haven't been hospitalized in 6 years. But this is a new animal, and from what I've been reading about how it affects the lungs, I'll have quite a challenge if I become infected. Bro- stay safe. We care about you.

If you don't have tests available, the numbers will remain low....
Waiting until testing becomes more available, it probably will not make anyone optimistic about the future.
