That judge is an imbecile. Even if he didn't want to rule, he could have delayed. It's just wonderful that most poll workers are at risk elderly folks who have been warned to stay home.

Everybody over 45 should just stay home.

Dude is all over it! I live in SC now, but everyone is talking about him. He's killing it. In a good way. I feel a sense of pride because no matter what, I will always be a Buckeye!

So he closed the polls but the election is still on... ??? The judge denied the request so I hope he didn't just open a can of worms trying to do the right thing.

I’m flying to Dallas right now, I’m heading that way to help out a hospital there.

It was like a ghost town in the airport. Nobody in line to check in and one person in line in front of me in security. The plane isn’t even half full.

It’s eerie and strange. Not helping my anxiety over this trip, but the less people the better!

This whole thing is just surreal.

He pulled an end-around on the judge and had it medically-ordered and took the risk of the courts coming back on him later. Polls are closed.

Courts won't touch him.

I think (would hope) the bigger risk of blowback is to the dummy judge who denied the request to delay.

I think it may have been done intentionally in order to not set a legal precedent for delaying/moving elections.

I don't know much about DeWine, but dude is saving lives.

Never liked Dewine, but he's been very impressive handling this situation by putting good people into position, listening to them and letting them do their thing without obstruction. Dr. Acton is a rockstar.

I've certainly found one piece of information confusing and seems contradictory.

We are being told that if we don't have the virus, we don't need a mask. Okay....

Then we're told that people who have the virus should wear a mask.

Then we're told that we should use social distancing to prevent the spread of the virus.

Okay, if those who don't have it don't need a mask, why the social distancing? If those who have the virus need a mask, why should we that don't have the virus feel that everyone who has it, knows they have it and are wearing a mask?

It just seems like very confusing messaging.

When I've gone to the grocery, standing in line both there and at the pharmacy, people certainly are not keeping the social distancing protocol.

In short?

We were told that to stop the run on masks.
It was estimated by the Surgeon General and the CDC that the United States' healthcare workers would need about 300 million N95 masks to get through this.

We only had a whopping 12 million in the national strategic reserve.
Healthcare workers do not get the luxury of "social distancing" even when working with the most infected cases... they are up-close and personal with everyone, all the time.


Most people wouldn't use the damn things correctly, anyway. They are single-use masks and need to be fitted to your face. Most people are not going to toss theirs out and put on a new one each time they go out, which means they've already completely wasted their time, money - and those masks.

Social distancing makes it so you generally don't need them. If you keep your distance, then you need to be more focused on not touching things around you and then touching your face.

They also help prevent an infected person from spreading it by automatically containing coughs and respiration.

So, not really as contradictory as it may seem on the surface.
Ideally, everyone would have all the masks they need.... the world is not an ideal place. The masks need to go where they are of greatest need and value.

That was the same conclusion I reached.

I took my mom to a doctor yesterday, and while I was there, I spoke to most of the people in the waiting room. (from a social distance, of course) One of the people there have a daughter who is supposed to be getting married in less than a month. They are wondering how the wedding can take place, with the group size restrictions. Bride and Groom both have huge families. They have already paid for the church and ceremony, the reception, and the honeymoon.

I suggested that they get married in a small ceremony, and have it recorded so they can send to their extended families. I would think that they should be in good shape as far as the hall and honeymoon refunded, but who knows?

Just one more thing being impacted by all of thise.

It doesn't make it bad advice, though.

About a month ago, Italy put a halt on all weddings and funerals.
