It could certainly go either way. I'm just saying I'm not sold it will be Njoku due to his drop rate and lack of blocking.
From a coverage standpoint he certainly creates a mismatch. Agreed. While I love the potential for mismatches all over the field, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Njoku is traded.

So my Mum is going into a hospice in England and is gravely ill. I can't go fly and visit her or attend the impending funeral - so I responded to your complaining/non-football post when normally I would have ignored it. Shame on me. That said - what I said was true, so go figure.
Dude, that's terrible, I can't even imagine. My heart goes out to you - truly.

Agree - and while Njoku has been inconsistent - he's also a man child that creates enormous mismatches. I think he and Hooper together represent a bit of a coverage nightmare for other teams.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

I wasn't trying to single you out. I just don't respond to the other dude. LOL This time I am sure you mean me - so I'll respond. So my Mum is going into a hospice in England and is gravely ill. Yes, he is and Baker missed him in the Red Zone big time last season.
Our TE play after we lost Njoku was bush League at best imo.
Edit: Sorry to hear of your tribulations

Are the Browns keeping Ricky Seals-Jones? I don't know, but if I had to speculate I would say no. Isn't he an ERFA or RSFA? I don't know if he even received a tender offer, so sorry I can't help with your question.

Whether we keep him or not might give us a clue about Njoku's future here.
I'm okay w/us keeping or trading Njoku. Not sure if keep Hooper, Brown, Njoku, and Seals-Jones on the roster. Of course, I could be wrong about that.

Meaning being better receivers than blockers...with Njoku certainly being more dynamic. Not a bad thing but maybe redundant. I've read positive things on Carlson too. He might be the Seth DeValve that we hoped Seth DeValve would become.

I forgot about Carlson. He actually kinda stood out to me TBH. Hooper, Njoku, Carlson isn’t a bad mix
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I was listening to CBD today and they were saying that the contract seems like a lot seeing he will be the highest paid, but with the new CBA he won't be for long. Zaruga seems to think it will actually be a good contract going forward.

RSJ and Carlson both stood out in that they each had a couple huge plays. I hope we keep them, but I don't know if there's room on the roster for them.

I'm going on record saying trading Njoku would be absolutely silly and unnecessary. Unless someone is willing to trade a very high draft pick (top 40ish) then I'm not making any trade. Releasing him would be asinine.

Agreed but it would take first rounder for me to even think about it ...

No one would give up that high of a pick for Njoku. He has talent. He is a great athlete. He has potential. But, he has not even come close to justifying his draft status and I can't see any team giving up a first round draft choice for him.
I just thought of something. Maybe we should contact BOB if we are looking to trade Njoku.

Releasing him would be asinine. First, he has done nothing to suggest being worthy of a first round pick. His drop rate and lack of blocking alone dictate that. If you want someone with dependable hands and a reliable blocker at the position, it makes perfect sense. If of course you like the mismatch he presents then keeping him would be the smart thing to do. #perspective
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I'd take a high 2nd for Njoku.

Agreed but it would take first rounder for me to even think about it ... Njoku is very young and essentially missed out on his 3rd year. That doesn't guarantee that his hands will improve - I doubt that they will ever be great - but he's worth keeping around for a variety of reasons.

He's now the 2nd best TE we have and he's viable and inexpensive...two days ago he was the best TE on the roster. He should stay until either he gets better or we get a better guy in his spot.

But the last two GMs didn't want to give him what he wanted....he moved on. I feel bad about him going to a tanking Jags team...and bad that he won't be our guy any longer...but he did get the $$$

I’d only keep him around cause no one would give squat for him and maybe he’ll one day realize 3/4’s of his potential ... he’s had what ... 1/2 of an OK year ... he’s possibly the most overrated player in our org ... dudes been 100% all hype so far ... With him ... if he ever turns it around he is still going to hurt u at costly times ... his hands will never be consistent IMO ... Y’all are going love Hoop ...

My point being if someone offers a 1st rd pick for Njoku, I'm taking it. If someone offers a 3rd, I'm probably not trading him.
His upside for us this season is far greater than what a 3rd rd pick would bring. That's my opinion. The possibilities grow if Njoku has a great season.

We need to remember that Njoku was not even 21 when drafted. Still need a year or 2 to hit his stride. I was hoping a lot for him before the injury last year.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!

This is a big year for him to stay healthy ... and this is a very TE friendly offense, so given our weapons he should have success

Hooper has a chance to lead the team in receptions. I think he is quickly going to become a favorite target.

I'm not sure the Fantasy Football reference was meant as a negative. I think the point was that he accumulated those numbers during garbage time. That is the knock. I didn't look up any stats but wasn't Atlanta's defense in the bottom third of the league last year. If so the team was playing from behind a lot last year. That's not Hoopers fault.
I AM ALWAYS RIGHT... except when I am wrong.

Anytime you can pick up the Best at a position it is good especially with a young talent involved. Haven't been around did we move on from Njoku? This kid is perfect for a RPO format. I think we will be doing a lot of running and passing off that run. Finally guys wide open in a system!!!
Oh and a FB to boot!

No - I didn't misinterpret the article. Fantasy football ranking and points have no part of footballers ability and evaluation.
If FF points were "racked up in garbage time" - then simply say that, show what % of competitions are targets etc were versus soft zone defenses.
For someone that talks about misrepresenting facts - you sure stretch them a lot with your agendas.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

Browns add another big offensive weapon, sign TE Austin Hooper https://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/browns-add-another-big-offensive-weapon-sign-te-austin-hooperThe Browns addressed an area of need at tight end by signing a four-year deal with one of the NFL's rising stars at the position. Austin Hooper, who spent his first four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, is the newest addition to a Cleveland offense with no shortage of talent and promise at the skill player positions. He's coming off his best season, one in which he caught 75 passes for 787 yards and six touchdowns to land his second consecutive Pro Bowl invitation. "I'm really excited. Coach Stefanski, from what I've heard about him, I just really valued his coaching style and schematically it matches what I've been asked to do before in the past, so hopefully it's a smooth transition," Hooper said. "And the amount of talent on this team, it just really excites me." Hooper, a third-round pick out of Stanford in the 2016 NFL Draft, has appeared in 59 games with 28 starts. After catching 19 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie, Hooper took on a bigger role in Atlanta's offense in his second season and continually increased his production. In 2018, Hooper appeared in all 16 games and caught 71 passes for 660 yards and four touchdowns to earn his first Pro Bowl honor. For his career, Hooper has 214 receptions for 2,244 yards and 16 touchdowns. "The nature of the position is block someone 40 pounds heavier than you or outrun someone 40 pounds lighter than you," Hooper said. "It's a position that definitely takes some time but I definitely feel like I've gotten a lot better in terms of timing my routes and in terms of just stemming into certain routes, and finer details and points of route running. And in terms of line of scrimmage, I've honestly just grown into my body and just understanding leverage at a different level because some of the best athletes on the field are typically those guys on the edge. They present a good challenge week in and week out."
