I saw a PFF tweet containing this interesting/fun hypothetical question. I thought it would provide a diversion that would not lead to insults, slander and the usual personal attacks... then I remembered this is Dawgtalkers, LOL.

It was something like this...the situation is 4th down and ten from the opponents 47-yard line. 1:09 left in the game and the Browns are down by five.

Pick a Browns QB from any era to throw a completion to any Browns Wr from any era to keep the drive alive.

Who do you pick?

Me?
Bernie to (2013) Josh Gordon.

Since it's my post gonna cheat a little.
Honorable mention: Paul Warfield, Jarvis Landry.

I definitely thought about Brennan he was clutch. Kind of like a pre-Welker, Welker if that makes sense.

Never saw Otto play but I'm not one who thinks greatness never existed before a time I was conscious of it.

I like the idea of Graham to Brennan.

Milt Morin really was "all that, and then some". DBs were scared bleepless when he was running free with the ball. One of my all time favorite Browns.

I was lucky enough to see him play.. He was the first in the new breed of TE's in my book.

I can still hear the radio announcers calling a play to Milt .. Mortin grabs the ball and now looking for someone to run over ..lol

Baker rolling right ...

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Hmmm..............4th down, huh?

I would go w/Brian Sipe. Does it have to be a WR? Or can it be a TE? If it is the former, I would go w/Webster Slaughter. If it is the latter, I would go w/The Wizard of Oz.

I'm going with Bernie to Webstar.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

What if we just limited this question from 1999 to now?

The QB is a really tough call (in a bad way)
The WR/TE is a little bit better .. KJ, Winslow, Landry, JJ, etc (just not Cutt)

With those parameters in mind it would be Baker to Landry. Baker has been our best QB and Landry has the surest hands.

Yeah most likely. KJ had a good stretch for us, but tough to tell with the bad offensive play we had

Yeah, I debated between Baker and Bernie. Bernie was a cool customer but things could get ugly when the D pinned it's ears back. Then I thought about Sipe and his incredible penchant for making plays with his back against the wall.

Too soon for Baker for me, I'd probably go Bernie or Brian first.

I was going by the parameters of players since 1999. If taken from all former players it would be Bernie to Webster Slaughter for me.

Since '99, I would say DA to Landry or maybe Jurevicius. Now that I think about it, DA to Jurevicius was a clutch combination in our 10 win season. DA would always look to Joe on 3rd and long.

There was god DA and then bad DA. The good DA. Yeah. wink

But then that some principal applies to Baker.

And Jurevicius was certainly clutch.

I like this if we're talking since '99.

Maybe "First Half of the 2014 Season" QB Hoyer to 2007 WR Jurevicius as well?

DA always made me nervous.

With DA you were never sure whether his passes would be caught or if they'd make a hole in the receivers chest.

Man, DA took so much grief from the fans and people on this board.

He did lead us to our most wins since we were reborn w/10.

He threw 29 TDs and had 19 interceptions. That's a lot of pics, but not as many as another qb we all know.

DA also threw for 3,787 yards that year.

Our OL looked horrid w/out him and then looked good w/him. He got rid of the ball quick and I remember the OL guys saying that.

And we did convert a lot of 3rd and long situations that year.

I remember one pass Derek threw to Joe J that left a contrail. Joe caught it, clutch guy that he was.

That was easily my favorite season since we have been back. The playoff season with Butch is honorable mention. We should have beaten the Steelers that year. Stupid Prevent Defense. A day after my favorite College Football game of all time. I was the happiest OH guy around until the 2nd half of that game lol.
