In addition to these as being possibilities I'd consider:

Geno Stone - 91.8 PFF Coverage grade in 2019
Ashtyn Davis

An intriguing prospect is Kyle Dugger.

Ashtyn Davis would be my pick if we wait for safety until round 3

If even two of those Available for our 2nd round I take a Safety and get your LB's in the 3rd round smile

Physically 6'2" or 6'3" depending on which profile you read -

https://thedraftnetwork.com/player/jeremy-chinn/LBtJPoKRIv

Draft Network rated Chinn significantly higher than PFF (107 overall) -

https://thedraftnetwork.com/prospect-rankings

Delpit / McKinney / Davis / Winfield / Chinn .... all would be solid pick ups that would improve the team.

I could see us taking one of the Edge guys if they drop to #41. Depends on their Board, I suppose.

Epenesa, Matos, Taylor, Uche.

Not sure why people don't talk about Stone? He is very good in coverage.

I like Stone, Davis, and Winfield in that order for FS. Delpit is good, but I think his success will be determined by how he is used.

Since we've got OT wrapped up, I could honestly see us revisit signing Clowney or one of the other free agent DE's out there.

He's still pretty young and entering his peak years.

I believe McKinney got hurt while running his 40...I remember reading something about it, could explain his slower time

Questionable if he lasts til rd3. If we want him, better pick him with our 2nd rounder...

My issue with this is that we're planning on re-signing Myles after this season. He'll probably be one of the highest paid defensive players in the NFL.

I'm not sure they want to sign Clowney to some contract unless it's one year or something like that. You let that contract expire (as you would Vernon), and then you get a compensation pick.

I really think we will see a DE round 2 or round 1 next year. Berry and DePodesta are all about strategy and systems. That seems to make sense to me.

Good points, especially the forward-thinking to next year's draft.

I don't know if the cap would be as big of a deal as all that, though. Vernon will not be back after this year. If we brought in Clowney on a three year deal he still hits the market again at a decent age (good for him) and we get him for his prime years. Vernon's money falling off after this year opens money for Myles as does the new CBA. Add in that we could front-load him and the only year that he's really an issue is this year.

I'm not pushing for it, just trying to think through the possibilities/ramifications.

We could definitely stand to draft a DE this year, but we need FS help far more right now... so, I'm hoping that is where we go in the 2nd. Which then begs the question: can we even get a DE worth adding in the 3rd or are we better served improving at LB? I think LB can be helped more because I don't think we can get a DE better than Vernon in the 3rd, but we can get a LB better than Taki... so it is improving a starting spot vs improving a backup spot.

Eh, I guess the end result is we won't revisit talking to him, if we even do, until the draft is done and we know what we've got.

I view safety and LB as pretty dire situations. I view DE as a more important situation after this season because we still have Vernon at least

Yes, I was thinking the same thing, (Epenesa or Matos) we can probably still get a Safety in round three.

You should always Draft for next year, not this year. Besides there are no LBers worthy of that high of a selection who is also a good fit for our scheme.

LB is more Dire than Safety although both need addressed ...

I know what our needs are PastorMarc...

Again there are no (4-3) LBers worthy of the 41st selection. There are some who will be available later in round three.

I’d say Wilson is a very viable option in next round

This may be a question for the Free Agent thread in PF, but would Clay Matthews III be a good fit for our defense, either at LB or as edge rusher?

Probably not as a LB, but he might be a good PRS.

Of that group I like McKinney & Chinn best. In watching highlights I thought those two were the most aggressive and tackled well.
I'm so tired of watching poor tackling by our Db's last year. I want guys who are willing to wrap up their opponent instead of just throwing a shoulder into them in hopes they go down.

If he's there I want DE Epenesa from Iowa. Reminds me of a young healthy version of Vernon.

I know we need at least 1 Safety and 1 LB but if we get the kid from Iowa opposite Myles Garrett I would be happy with that smile

same here .. if we could get him, a safety, and the ILB from Wyoming I’d be stoked

Epenesa (mvp) this past Holiday bowl game had 2.5 sacks and cause a QB fumble vs OT A. Jackson #18 pick of Miami.

Gross-Matos is another that I would not mind seeing in a Browns Uniform.

Very disruptive...

Drafting at #10 in the first round is "easy"...

Now, the draft becomes more difficult for the Browns draft team and moving up or down becomes more critical in an effort to land the players targeted on their draft board.

The selections in rounds 2 and 3 will help define the overall grade the draft team earns...good luck AB.

Sadly history says otherwise ! frown Hoping we got a great LT and hoping we get a couple more good picks tonight.

I may be one of the few posters who doesn't believe that we have done enough to strengthen our run defense. Adding Billings alone is not sufficient to stop us from being gashed up the middle like we have for several seasons. We need another 3 Tech behind Richardson. I would draft that position before Safety. I would probably use #41 on a player like Blacklock or Marlon Davidson who projects as a 3 Tech not a DE in the NFL. If we do draft a Safety at 41 then I'm praying Raekwon Davis, Justin Madubuike or James Lynch are available in round 3.

I think if either Espenesa or Gros matous is there, we take either one.
