The Bengals are going to have a choice of two pretty good tackles at the top of the second round. Also, there are a ton of good receivers still out there.
We can go in a bunch of different directions. I am hoping for one of Jeremy Chinn, Ashtyn Davis, Laviska Shenault, Michael Pittman, or Antoine Winfield.
If Logan Wilson is there in round three I think he has to be the pick.
The draft is fun.

I wonder how well Stefanski knows Trevon Diggs after coaching his brother. He might make a nice FS convert.
I love Winfield, but didn't realize the extent of his potential medical concerns. He missed a lot of time. He was still invited to participate in the virtual draft festivities, so the prognosis on his health must not have been too bad. Still, I figured I should probably try to figure out some other potential options. No safeties have been picked, so we should have some choices.

The offense is complete.... now we load up on defense!!
Which Safety is the biggest athletic freak of a ballhawk?
What about that DT at the top... Blacklock? Anyone think he could push Ogun or Richardson aside?
We're already young at LBer and CB, so we 're probably not going those routes in Round 2 unless we think Taki or Greedy aren't cutting it. I think Ward and Mack are solid.

Right now there are solid FS and DE options in round 2. I think that's where we're looking over LB. If there's a DE we think has a decent chance to be a starter across from Myles, it'd be hard to look away from that. And there's three solid options at safety that could move Sandejo to the bench

I’m all over those safety choices ... McKinney, Delpit, Winfield, Chinn
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

So far we're approaching the season how I hoped we would: we filled one T position with a legit player in FA, and Drafted the other with a legit player. I think for me right now my priorities are in this order: LB S DE I feel like we have enough talent in the secondary and line overall to compensate if we're a little weak in a spot or two but LB? I really like Wilson, but I don't know if he's the anchor of your defense. But then I don't know if that guy is someone you can find Day 2 and beyond? Crazy thing is, I can't remember a time where we've been this close to a "complete" roster!

I got five guys i'd love to see here.
Yetur Gross-Matos, PSU A.J. Epenesa, DE, Iowa Xavier McKinney S Ala Grant DelPit FS LSU Antoine Winfield Jr. FS Minn
All five of those guys are good options to me.
They also fill the most key areas we need. DE (someone has to replace Vernon next year, i'd rather not be pigeon-holed into a 1st round DE, both these guys bring value and give us options next year with our first).
And FS. There's just a lot of really good players there.
I think we'll be able to find LBs and FSs in the 3rd round. DE's become less and less.
To me, i'd take one of the DEs, preferably Gross-Matos, but i like Epenesa for this team also. I don't see how we can pass on one of them in the 2nd

For the Browns I'm putting 9 out there so that at LEAST one of them will be available when we pick #9 (41) in the 2nd round: 1. Trevon Diggs CB Alabama 2. AJ Epenesa DE Iowa 3. Grant Delpit S LSU 4. Yetur Gross-Matos DE Penn State 5. Kristian Fulton CB LSU 6. Jaylon Johnson CB Utah 7. Xavier McKinney S Alabama 8. Zack Baun LB Wisconsin 9a. Robert Hunt RG Louisiana 9b. Antoine Winfield S Minnesota
At least one of them will be a Brown...will we target Safety? Some excellent DEs out there Just some excellent ballers out there. Especially Some really good safeties. 3 listed but also: Chinn, Ashtyn Davis
Possibly our highest available BPA would be Denzel Mims??? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1ilIYyfaCY

I think it is critical that the Browns get a true FS. Not an "in-the-box" S like Peppers, but a guy who can play center field. Davis and Winfield fit that role. Not sure about their medicals, though.
Next, I think the Browns need a LBer who can cover. I still am perplexed why they did not keep Joe. It's not like they are in cap hell.
I think the other positions are just gravy.

I think you will find the NEW TREND will be that LB will be a SS and for most snaps only 2 true LBs out there.

If we could end up with Winfield and Wilson ... a safety and an ILB ... that would be ideal

I think whenever this FO arrives at a valuation on a player they are confident in how they arrived there (however that may be) and are not likely to budge very far from that. At least anecdotally it would appear they've generally been pretty accurate. Now the argument about the wisdom in holding so fast to the process that got you to that valuation vs. allowing yourself enough flexibility to pay a bit more than you'd like for a guy is for another thread, another day.

After doing some quick perusing of NFL.com draft profiles on the Safeties, Xavier McKinney would be my choice for the next pick.
His strengths are the instinctual stuff, his weakness are the coachable stuff and he sounds like a natural in coverage.
I would not be upset with Zach Braun, however.

McKinney, Winfield, Delpit, Chinn are all good safety options
Baun or the DE from Iowa perhaps too

I wonder if McKinney is going to fall though - I think he had a first round grade on most analysis I saw. Yes, I'd love him. Be happy with Chinn also. Winfield too but the 5'9" and the injuries are factors to raise concerns. Davis and Dugger are also options but maybe not at 41 ?
There are a number of intriguing LB choices - Wilson, Harrison, Davis-Gaither, Gay ... All depends on how the FO sees our current incumbents. Takitaki makes me nervous if we are relying on him in a significant role

Looking at Cinci - they got to love that they have a choice of two OT to pick. I'd role with Josh Jones and not think twice at the top of round 2.

Simply because of the 5' 9" thing, I'd stay away from Winfield. I wasn't aware of an injury history, but that would definitely be a factor for sure.
I'm also not a fan of rolling with just Taki2. Granted, he will likely make a big jump in year 2, but I wasn't overly impressed with him last year in any way. He just never stood out, at all.
We need more talent at LB and we need more talent at both Safety spots and to get younger at FS. A slot CB wouldn't hurt, either.

Yeah I mean our entire defense needs upgraded, so I dont think we can go wrong with a position. I think if we draft the 3 top defenders on our board tonight it’s the best approach.
Outside of Ward and Garrett, i dont trust many of our defenders

Absolutely true...we can use upgrades and depth all along our defense...LB and S still are our weakest spots. As long as we are filling our roster in, and not grabbing reaches...then I'm ok with it

I would love if Delpit fell to us, I think he is the best safety in the class. I would love if we get a LB who can come downhill and knock RB's backward and Lamar Jackson. I am not a fan of hearing this coverage linebacker stuff, we had that, it dont work against the Ravens, Steelers and Bengals who are playing the power game. I believe Schoebert and Kirksey are gone because they could not fight through traffic and make plays. I think Malik Harrison fits that role best. We will see, just my thoughts, GO BROWNS!!

and I think Malik will be sitting there for us at the top of the 3rd. I'd gladly welcome him to the Browns!
McKinney in the 2nd, Harrison in the 3rd... I think we'd definitely be a better team.
After that, we're pretty much upgrading our depth, I think.

I agree with you. Get out of this draft with a starting safety and LB ... and we’re upgraded in a big way

Tyrann Mathieu is 5'9 as well.
I get the injury concerns, but Winfield can ball and in my opinion is the best FS in this class. Don't care about the height.

McKinney too slow - 4.63 40. If he's in the right position or doesn't take false steps or bad angles .... then that 40 time is more than good enough. Either Purple or Cfrs mentioned instincts ... whether you call it football smarts, or instinct or whatever, I think McKinney plays the position really well.

Exactly... what's his "game speed". 40 speed is mostly of value if he is out of position and lets someone get behind him.
If his film shows him holding his own against talent that is getting taken in the top of drafts, that's all you need to know.
