Thanks guys. Yes, we are very confident that she will be okay. But still, she is our daughter. I probably don't have to explain. I did forget to mention that they said she was producing antibodies and that is a good thing.

Fate, my wife is feeling better. She is returning to work tomorrow.

I hope your daughter gets past this safely. I hope those around her stay safe too.
My girlfriend woke up with a low grade fever yesterday. Had us both on edge. Thankfully it resolved by mid morning. We hope it was just an anomaly. Weird times were in.
Stay safe everyone.

That sucks. I'm praying that her youth and fitness allows her to pull through without a problem. Great news about your wife. If you haven't, get yourself checked pronto.

I didn't mention this, but they told my daughter to self-quarantine for the next 14 days.

Keep an eye on your girlfriend. From what you have shared w/us, she is at high-risk. Damn......I hate saying that, but it's best to stay on top of this.

I am rambling. Sorry.

My son is getting tested tomorrow. He had dinner w/my daughter and her fiance last Thursday. That was after the date we think she came into contact w/the virus. Plus, his damn cancer background.

I'm fine. I am not going to get tested and waste that resource for others. I'll get tested if I get sick, but I feel fine.

Damn Vers. Sorry to hear that.

Everything else becomes secondary when your loved ones are threatened.

You know what to do. Take every precaution.

Thankfully she is young and healthy.

Be safe. I am sure it will work out.

Best wishes for her, and your son.

My stubborn wife told me thursday evening that she had pain in her chest. Said it felt like a rubberband squeezing her chest.

She asked if I thought she should see a doctor. I said "with your family's history, yes."

She got in last night. After telling the dr. her symptoms, and of course blood pressure, pulse, etc. they did an ekg. That was fine. So, we have that going for us.

Wasn't sure where to put this, but this news is not so good.

My daughter tested positive for Covid-19 today. She hasn't been able to smell things for about a week. Otherwise, she felt fine. She decided to get tested w/our encouragement and she was positive.

Damn Vers..how quickly life's circumstances can change.

The truth is, all of us are living with a degree of risk with this covid-19 virus. Thoughts and prayers for your daughter and the family...stay strong!

I mentioned earlier that my son had dinner w/my daughter and her fiance last week. He also tested positive today. I am more worried about him because he had cancer and still has some issues. For example, even though he was sitting under the umbrella by our pool on Sunday, his legs turned red. He also broke out in a rash from the chemicals in the pool.

I just got off the phone w/him and his spirits are good, but damn man!!!

Very sorry to hear the news Vers. Hopefully things will go fine for her. It sounds as if the odds are certainly in her favor. Having a daughter myself I can certainly understand the impact it must have on you. I know I would give my life for my child and knowing you, I'm sure you feel the same way. I will keep your family in my prayers.

Damn dude. Was he tested just because he had exposure to your daughter or is he experiencing clear-cut symptoms?

I seriously can't even imagine. It's hard enough when something is wrong with a child and there is a predictable timetable for a full recovery... this is different beast.

Chances are great that everything will be fine, and while those are shallow words for a parent, keep your mind on the positive to battle the emotions.

My heart goes out to you bro. I know you're a strong dude - stay strong for your family. Lean on us if you need to vent or just need some words of encouragement.

Man Vers, I really don't know what to say. All I can say is that I'm here. If you want to talk feel free to call. My prayers go out to your entire family. I'm a dad too and while I could say I know how you feel, I really don't. I can only imagine it.

That's the thing about being a dad. You always feel it's your duty to stay strong for your family. And you do. But man, sometimes that's just so damned hard to do.

You know I am here for you if there is anything I can do.

Having a son and daughter I can understand what you must be going through.

He is not one to complain. He didn't even want to tell us when he had cancer. But, as far as I know, he got tested because my daughter tested positive and they had dinner last week.

I am a little worried about my wife. I misspoke earlier when I said my son was over on Sunday. It was Saturday. She got sick on Sunday. She went back to work today and I just texted her to get tested again at work. Seems too coincidental that she got the symptoms after having close contact w/our son the day before.

Thanks Homes.

Here is some more info about my kids.

My daughter feels fine. No fever. Just the loss of smell.

I called my son and then brought him some groceries. I put them on the porch and texted him. He came out and stood up there while I went down to the bottom of the steps. We talked awhile. He said he did have shortness of breath on Sunday. He said he always has felt somewhat nauseous since having cancer. The rash thing I spoke of earlier is probably due to getting sun poisoning. That's from the cancer thing.

The good news is that they told him he has antibodies working for him. He also said that they told him they think he had it before. Not sure how they know that, but that is what they said.

I passed along some advice to both my daughter and son that Jester gave to me in a PM.

Good. That's some positive news. My wife had Cancer about 8-9 years ago but now is fine. She has hypertension and is diabetic but it's under control with meds. My children and I are naturally worried about her because of these health issues and the Covid-19. She is taking every precaution; so far so good. I have to be careful too as I am over 60. We'll be wearing masks, sanitizing and washing our hands frequently for many more months. Keep us informed.

I am glad you and your family are trying to stay safe. What kills me is that our family has, too. We all thought things were opening up way too fast. It's really bad here in SC. The vast majority of people gave up wearing masks weeks ago. Oh well...

It's so easy to infect yourself not just with this virus but any virus. You may have a mask on and gloves. All it takes is for you to touch something with a virus then rub your nose or eyes and that could be enough. You have to be constantly vigilant in whatever you are doing to avoid it and stay safe. It's practically a full time job.

My dad who is 83 and in a nursing home for 6 years tested positive late April. They waited 3 weeks to retest and it was nonconlusive so they tested him again a week later. He made it through this but has lost almost 30 pounds he couldn’t afford to lose and still isn’t eating much

That is excellent news.

If he is producing antibodies and "maybe has gotten through this before."

Maybe they both will get through this quickly.

Sorry to hear that my friend.

Go in and feed him some. He fed you at one point.

I don't intend for this to sound insulting or insensitive, please don't take it as such. Gerber Baby food is packed with nutrition and easy to swallow for babies or older adults who maybe can't chew much anymore.

From experience, it can be a bit bland. Very low salt, if any. As adults we have acquired a taste for salted foods. At 83 I don't know that restricting salt intake is all that important. You might want to mix a little in just to make him feel like he is eating something.

To me at least, there is a balance between longevity of life and quality of life.

I hope he picks some weight up soon. Hopefully since he's beaten the virus things will be on the upswing. I wish your family the best.

Thanks to all for the well wishes.

Peen, my stepmom put him 5 minutes from me so that somebody besides her would go see him. I have averaged going to see him every 4-6 days for 6 1/2 years to feed him, watch Browns games (he is the reason I am a Browns Fan), talk while he still knew who I was, watch Christmas movies, etc.-Thats what I think I am supposed to do.
I finally got to go see him yesterday "thru the glass" after 3 months. We are not allowed to visit cause of Covid. It was only for 15-20 minutes but it was good.

Vers,

Update:

My daughter was cleared and is able to leave self-quarantining. My son was not cleared, but only because they ran out of the test kits where he goes. They did the blood test rather than the swab. He says he feels fine, though.

I got tested last week because I did have contact w/my son while he had the virus. I tested negative.

So, while my son isn't totally in the clear........the news is good for us.
