NASCAR issued the following statement Sunday night:

“Late this afternoon, NASCAR was made aware that a noose was found in the garage stall of the 43 team. We are angry and outraged, and cannot state strongly enough how seriously we take this heinous act. We have launched an immediate investigation, and will do everything we can to identify the person(s) responsible and eliminate them from the sport.

As a fan of NASCAR I am hoping that somehow a fan got in there and did this. However, with the limited access to the infield because of Covid I doubt that it’s the case. Hopefully they catch the person or persons responsible quickly. I have no doubt they will be thrown out of the sport.

Not a fan os NASCAR, but I hope they find whoever did that. It is completely uncalled for, and is a really vile thing to do.

They used to wear hoods and sheets to hide who they were. Now they just sneak behind everyone's back to do something in order to hide who they are.

We also have no way of knowing it wasn't a staged "hate crime", a la Jussie Smollet. In todays highly charged atmosphere, nothing would surprise me.

Actually, there's evidence from some recent studies that the Jussie Smollet case was not an outlier.

One of the studies was by Wilfred Reilly, Professor of Political Science at Kentucky State University. It was discussed in a Wall Street Journal op-ed and carried the following headline and sub-header:

Hate Crime Hoaxes Are More Common Than You Think
A political scientist found that fewer than 1 in 3 of 346 such allegations was genuine.

Well you just stick with that narrative to try and undermine the actual things that are going on in this country.

Number one, I wasn't asking for permission. Number two, I wasn't claiming to know anything, just suggesting that things are not always what they seem and that people should keep an open mind.

That is a bigoted statement.

All that means is someone cut the rope from bay 4. Hardly a pointer to the culprit, especially since those ropes are usually all laying on the ground OUTSIDE the garage when closed.

They are trying to undermine its legitimacy.

Why? It was proven that the exact knot found on this exact rope has been in that exact garage since October and that there was no possible way that anyone knew the 43 team would have been assigned to that garage.

In light of events, I don't think it seemed fishy although I don't know anything about NASCAR and how plausible it is for someone to do something like that i.e., access, etc.

But I think it's great that it turned out to be false. And it still created a moment of solidarity in the sport that was great to see regardless of whether this was an actual incident or not. I think you chalk this up to an honest mistake by whoever discovered it and take what good came from it. The sport of NASCAR seems to be united more than ever. And I think that will trickle down to the fans as well.

Yet you never seem to call out those suggesting it was a "Jessie Smollett" incident. Your bias is showing again arch. Don't worry, you reap what you sow.

This is a pretty stupid statement. Obviously the FBI took it seriously enough to investigate it. So you are suggesting the FBI investigates things that they see as not being legitimate. Now you think you're smarter than the FBI. Sadly arch, you're not even close to that smart.
