I guess you missed it. It's hard to start a sport back up WHILE players are getting the virus. I mean if we're talking about brains.

We'll see how you feel about that if four starters from Atlanta United get sidelined for the playoffs.

Maybe, but playing sports is their job and if they choose to do their job who is anyone to judge? They arent at any greater risk than anyone else. They are taking safety precautions. A lot of people in this country cant work from home. I'm not part of the crowd who says we need to hide in fear in our homes. I feel that its possible to go out and work/play in responsible ways.

Remember when people used to think this was important? At Chez Clemdawg, it's still important. We still watch the Gov, keep up on the numbers. We're altering nothing about our CoVD routine. One of my best friends is in the medical field. I had a convo with him a month ago, and he used this analogy: "If the time between Patient Zero and a universal vaccine is a 9-inning baseball game, we're in the top of the 3rd inning, and the virus is back up to bat." We ain't even close to being done with this. Not even close.

Let’s get stung by bees! Some promising info here. A possible preventative. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7190514/An excerpt... These patients had received apitherapy from October 2019 to December 2019, and all the five bee apitherapists have the habit of self-apitherapy for their own health care (apitherapy means making use of bee venom from the honeybee's sting to treat or prevent certain diseases). Without any protective measures, two of the five apitherapists were exposed to suspected COVID-19 cases and others were exposed to confirmed COVID-19 cases, but none of them were infected eventually. None of the 121 patients were infected by SARS-CoV-2, and three of them had close contact with immediate family members who were confirmed SARS-CoV-2 Infection cases.

Until it can be stated incontrovertibly that the antibodies will last more than a couple of months, a vaccine is almost kinda pointless & silly, really. A vaccine that won't guarantee you won't be infected 6 weeks from now is useless - unless you're a shareholder in whichever pharmaceutical is rushing it to market.

It bugs me that there is next to no information about how this virus kills people. I know they have some respiratory distress and other organs can be affected.
But I can't seem to find any detailed explanation of cause of death. Don't they do autopsies?
I want nitty gritty scientific details. And there are none.
Like with my Crohns, I can get all kinds of detailed medical info about it. Medical Journal and Study detail. And it's an unsolved disease.
Seems Covid has been around long enough to have some detailed insight.
I'm about to put on a tinfoil hat about this lack of info. I feel like something is withheld.

Not being a schmuck, but Chrohn's Disease dates back to 1932.
Covid-19 (obviously dates 2019) but most data is less than 6 months old.
It'll be awhile to get the answers we all would like.

But really, it doesn't take that long to have some information or find some commonalities in the details of the deaths. Afterall, there are a LOT more people with Covid than with Crohns. And it has the attention of the whole world. Nobody cares about solving Crohns because it's a cash cow for big pharma. Seems there should be a bit more urgency for solving Covid. There has been ZERO information coming out about it.

I agree. It's not like only a few people have died.
I understand that while it may still be a fairly small sample size to draw definitive conclusions, we would know more.
I hope they are right on a vaccine, but something tells me that is more verbage to give people hope rather than anything that will actually work.
To me a vaccine puts a end to things. Polio, measles, small pox. Those are diseases that have pretty much been eliminated from the picture. The flu on the other hand is still around. It mutates. Science does a pretty good job of staying ahead of things by making their best guess, but bam, all of a sudden you have a Hong Kong strain or a Swine strain that kills hundreds of thousands of people across the globe.
I guess that if we can inoculate the majority of people most of the time, and maybe lessen the severity of illness in some of the others, that is a good thing, but it is still here.
I guess that is just the way it goes. Compared to 200 years ago, we know much. 200 years from now science is going to look back and wonder how we survived considering how little we knew.
It wasn't all that long ago that science thought that bleeding people of a quart of blood was helpful.
"Well, that doesn't work, lets try this!"

I'm not talking about a vaccine. I'm talking about cause of death. At this point the horse is out of the barn and we need a treatment, not just a vaccine. You can't treat something unless you know the mechanics by which it is killing you. There are studies like this on how Covid affects Crohns patients: https://covidibd.org/current-data/I know y'all aren't familiar with Crohns or Crohns treatments. Treating Crohns mostly involves suppressing the immune response. All I know about Covid is that there is an overactive immune response. Maybe. Who knows. That was the story of the week at one point. So if you look at that page all of the most effective meds happen to be biologic drugs that target how the body mounts an immune response. That has best result for Covid patients with Crohns. I have to wonder if they don't already have a biologic drug that can treat it but don't want to say so. Because biologic drugs are extremely expensive (5/6 figures a year) and no healthcare system can afford that to treat everybody. I KNOW there has to be more info in the medical community that they aren't telling us. Because they have the means to know exactly what is going on. And they just aren't telling us.

Not only that, Eve, we don't know the long term impacts.
We know it is primarily a respiratory disease. Most people get through it, some people don't.
What we don't know is the long term impact it may have on survivors. If it turns portions of your lungs in to more or less fiber glass, how is that going to impact your health when you are 45 or 50 and no longer 25?
45 or 50 may seem like a long way off for some when you are 25, but once you get to be 50, you reasonably expect to live another 20-25 years in fairly good health.
If you die at 74-75....ok..that happens and it was a good enough run. That isn't out of a norm for men or women. Maybe a little shy for you girls. People start passing at 52, that is a lot short.

I think it's difficult to make a comparison between a condition (like Chrohn's) which is a specific condition that affects specific generalized functions -- and a virus/bacteria where the impact depends on what areas of your body are most affected.
For example, how does the flu kill people? Some people die from cytokine storms (especially younger people), some people die from pneumonia and acute respiratory distress, some people die from heat stroke caused by high temperatures, some people die of cardiovascular effects, blood clots, etc. caused by swelling. Some people will die of kidney failure caused by dehydration, etc.
Whatever tissue is most infected by a virus is going to become inflamed and function poorly -- this can lead to a lot of generalized failures around the body that can cause death.

GC. Just a thought.
When was everyone (cryin) and moaning about opening back up and saying we wouldn't see a spike at all for at least 2 weeks?
My thought is it was about 35 days ago, around May 20, 5 weeks ish,
Maybe by reading this board we can find out the date, because
Seems to me,
All of these Bull (poop) -really need to say the s word for emphasis
All of these Bull (poop) 14 day quarantines we've been told to take since the beginning really need to be 35 days Because the National news is stressing the new outbreak, or Spike in cases
I've all along been skeptical of the expressed dormancy time period, the 14 days, because if it's a new thing, nobody knows, (ok, leave that tangent)
Point being, Everybody went back outside X number of days ago,
Today the Spike in many states. (I think it was about 5 weeks)
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

I bought plane tickets to go to NY next month to visit fam. So today NY puts a 14 day quarantine on out of state visitors from hot spot states. GA isnt on the list yet, but I'm sure we will be. So I'm mad I have to somehow change my plans. I will be missing my nephews baptism and wont be able to see my Mom.

Well we all know your plans are so much ore important than the health and safety of others. If anyone wants to know what the real epidemic is that's the root cause of the pandemic, this describes it perfectly.

I've missed concerts, my son's graduation, trips to see my parents, funerals and weddings due to this. I was angry when my first concert was cancelled for it, but I understood. In time I've become numb to it. Some people just are in a different stage of grief. Too many are still in the "denial" stage.
