The story was a major letdown. From a radio report I heard, these complaints go from 2006-2019. To me, that indicates a corporate culture that is hard to imagine the owner being unaware of. If it was my wife, mother, daughter, sister who had to endure those working conditions, I would want someone's head on a pike.

This doesnt really surprise me. Sexual harrassment in the workplace is extremely common and the men typically get away with it.

I don't disagree with that or what Vers said.
My comment was half in jest.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

I had a college acquaintance who interned for the Browns around 2010 ... she would say the “old coaches” always had disgusting comments around the office or facility.
Obviously not to the extent of this story, but I can see it happening most places
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I got it, The Washington Harvey Epsteins. Would that mean people who buy PSLs and season tickets would be on an Offender Registry?

This is ridiculous. Don't change the name, change the mascot! Well, that's just nuts.

They previously said they wouldnt reveal the new name until intellectual property is secured.
I know trademarks take at least 3 months to go through. Maybe more with covid.
Its a time consuming process.

Its a time consuming process. and obviously this is being done at the wrong time, with the season looming pretty close (or at least we think). Licensing, merchandising, etc... takes a long time and none of this will be ready. The team got leveraged by a few companies, so they had to immediately dump the name. So this is literally the only thing they could do. I am glad they are keeping the color scheme, because I have always been a fan of it. I totally agree that a name change is necessary. Although I do find it hilarious considering some of the skeletons the companies who forced their hand, have in their own closets (hi Nike!) Same goes with the Indians. Totally good with that being changed too. My biggest problem with this is that we don't hear enough from the Native American people. We have to hear this from white hipsters who love to hear themselves talk. If these teams that need to change were smart, they'd do what the University of Miami of Ohio did with their name change from back in the day. They also were the Redksins I believe, and they worked with the local descendants of those tribes to come up with a name that respects and honors Native Americans of the area. Which also destroys the whole "they aren't your mascot" argument that again, white hipsters love to make. Work locally and see if you can come to something that works. If not, then you go a different route.

No doubt, by now Native Americans are reaping many benefits from the Washington NFL franchise being renamed. That will double when the Cleveland MLB franchise gets a new moniker, so at least things are looking up for that particular group of people.

Yeah, I have a feeling that it was either dump the name now or we are pulling funds... And as someone said, you can't just change the name of a sports franchise or even a company at the snap of a finger. This was probably their only option. I know Dan Snyder is an absolute snake of a human being, but I am surprised he waiting this long to rebrand, considering the bushels of money you can make from this considering there will be all new merchandise to sell, and nobody buys sports merch like NFL fans.

They should just keep it as this.

I don't know anyone who ever considered Redskins a racial slur. Sure, perhaps it started that way but it no longer carries that connotation to most. If the Native Americans really wanted to benefit, they should have have leveraged it into some revenue sharing agreement with any professional or college sports team that used their image, likeness, name etc Now that would be some real benefit.

Look, I think some people are taking things too far. But, are you really acting like the name "Redskins" should be acceptable? Seriously?
Braves, Chiefs, Blackhawks, Seminoles, etc bring honor to the Native American people. But "Redskins?" Come on. You are supposed to be a man of God. How in the heck can you think that name is not biased?

Really what I am lampooning is our culture of insult and outrage.
The term "Redskin" originated back when a chief of the people who lived here before us referred to his own people as redskins, red-skinned, or red children, depending upon translations.
It was a socially acceptable term .. and remains as such for the vast majority of "Native Americans" (of which most of us are, since we are native born .....) but there are some in our offense driven culture who find offense in everything. Recent polling of "Native Americans" by the Washington Post found that 9 out of 10 are NOT offended by the name, and in fact, are not bothered by it at all. I have read articles about "Native Americans" who love the team, and the fact that they help keep their people in the public conscience.
I suppose, though, that we should respond to the 1 out of 10 who are offended. However, I challenge you to find any group where 1 out of 10 isn't offended by something.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

I have already said that some folks have gone too far.
I was just asking you a simple question. Do you think that the term Redskins is degrading or not? I don't need a freaking history lesson. I know about Native Americans and their plight. Just answer the freaking question.
Oh, and before you do....Consider this. When guys like Rocket, blank, OCD, Pit, etc get on your ass about your religious views, I defend you. I am not a "Christian" like you, but I respect your right to believe as you do. I would never dream of assigning a negative label to your group.
Think about it. Think about some of the verses in the bible and then get back to me on the name "Redskins" and it's meaning in THIS century.

Matthew 7:12 “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. If I am not offended by something said about me, then why should someone else be? Those offended by this are, overwhelmingly, not those supposedly negatively impacted by the name.

And of course Captain Vers feels he has to come along and defend anyone some of us disagree with. You say you don't want to interact with some of us but can't seem to keep our names out of your mouth. There are names for people like that. As you said in PF. This isn't the political forum.
