None of the animals known to be in Wuhan Wet Markets had an ACE2 Cellular receptor(The molecule that allows celluar entry of the virus) that was intermediate in protein sequence to make the jump from animal to human.

China had the ability = Virus research labs
China had the known how = They do massive virus research
China stood to profit - One of the largest vaccine makers

You need to take your eye away from the microscope and look at this from a criminal element. China could have easily bred any evidence of their tampering out of the virus once they had an engineering sample. By using a pangolin they would just infect the pangolins, let the virus reproduce, take the new sample, infect the pangolin, rinse and repeat. no more signs of tampering after 3-4 generations because the virus would mutate that stuff out. After that they would infect a few hundred pangolins, take them into the wuhan market, and a 12-15% chance it jumps to people, once it does, there you are.
