“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
A large explosion ripped through the Lebanese capital Beirut on Tuesday, injuring people and smashing windows in buildings across the city.
The source of the explosion was a major fire at a warehouse for firecrackers near the port in Beirut, the state-run National News Agency reported. Local news reported large numbers of wounded people.
Many buildings were damaged by the explosion, including the headquarters of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri and CNN's bureau in the city. A red cloud hung over Beirut in the wake of the blast as firefighting teams rushed to the scene to try to put out the fire. Homes as far as 10 kilometers away were damaged, according to witnesses, and local media video showed cars destroyed and flipped over.

in the second video, you can see little explosions going off, like that of fireworks.
but the big one? that didn't look like something that can happen at a firecracker warehouse....

I never trust initial reports because they're based on initial information without any real investigations having been done. But let's hope for everyone's sake in the region the initial reports are correct.

I just looked at the long narrow tall building next to the smoke rising on google earth and it looks like it is grain storage. There is a conveyor system coming out of the building loading ships with something that looks like grain
Donald Trump has described deadly explosions in Lebanon as a "terrible attack" despite no evidence that suggests the blasts were intentional.
Massive explosions in Beirut on Tuesday have killed at least 70 people and injured more than 3,000 others while levelling a large segment of the capital.
Multiple videos show fires and thick plumes of smoke emerging from a building before a mushroom cloud swallows the area.
"Let me begin by sending America's deepest sympathies to the people of Lebanon," he said at a White House briefing on Tuesday. "It looks like a terrible attack."
Lebanese officials believe the explosions were caused by several thousands of tonnes of ammonium nitrate left unsecured for several years in a warehouse.

Boris Johnson responds to 'shocking' Beirut explosions When asked what evidence supports his characterisation, the president said US generals told him they believed the explosions were the result of an attack.
"I met with some of our great generals and they just seem to feel that it was," the president said. "This was not some kind of a manufacturing explosion type of event. This was a – seems to be, according to them, they would know better than I would – but they seem to think it was an attack. It was a bomb of some kind, yes."
Why were you digusted, and whats so extreme about my prediction of what I thought cause it wasnt a pro Trump remark or an extreme right remark just an observation sheesh you really have problems with me dude
Because you unnecessarily called Swish out when all he did was post information. You also brought Trump into it and said others were going to make it political.
It's not just about you. The other side who made this about Trump's comments are equally guilty.
Y'all want to hammer your personal political ideas down our throats. It doesn't work w/open-minded people. In fact, it has the opposite effect.
Hell, I have been a Dem and Liberal my entire life, but all this name-calling, slandering, attacking by them in recent years is actually making me reconsider my position.
I don't like one-sided folks who try and force-feed their bias down my throat.
Let's just all pretend there arent various political factions in Lebanon who arent above blowing each other up. That place is historically very dangerous.
I think the left responds like this in the various Trump scenarios:
Trump says what he did and folks mock them like the article that was posted and the follow-up comments.
Trump says nothing. Critics say this is an example of him being a racist because he doesn't care about people of color.
Trump offers condolences to the people of Beirut. Critics say that Trump cares more about foreign citizens than he does the black people who are dying at the hands of his militia-based police forces on a daily basis.
The right's response to all of those comments:
Trump is a true leader who is making America great again. He don't take no crap from any of those terrorists.
'40: Who is blaming Trump for the explosion? His calling it an attack is however, fanning the flames of international politics...
Stop playing liberal politics and honest up already.
The President said it LOOKED like an attack.
When asked about that statement he said, It SEEMED like an attack.
GOP or Dem, I could care less. Nobody in that position should have used such provocative wording. He is like a virgin on her wedding night....no idea what they're doing.
When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the losers...Socrates
You guys crack me up ..Riley 40 and the rest of you trump supporters are the ones making this political. Lol. Please continue....pffft trump supporters.
