if they cancel the season what is the plan to actually make changes?

Interesting since this is LeBron's best shot at another title. At least the message is more important than that.
It was emotional watching Chris Paul's after game interview and Doc Rivers' post game interview (minus the Trump reference which cheapened the message a little). If you can't form empathy after watching both of those, I don’t know what to say. You can actually feel the pain.
But I kind of agree with Vers. Seems like they could affect more change if this was more of a calculated move with some action items. Perhaps even demanding the owners back that PAC or they don't play. Something, anything tangible.

It's amazing how dumb they are. Is anyone listening to any members of the Cavs? The Hawks? The Kings? Or any other team who did not make the playoffs?
They have a platform in the bubble. But, instead of using logic, reason, and the power that the platform can provide, they are relying on pure emotion. Not smart.
There are so many great basketball players. Let these guys go and start a new league. Sign some guys like Luka and Porzingis. I'm sure that a lot of black players will sign up because of the money. Let's do this!

j/c:
I remember back in 1987 when the NFL had a strike, work stoppage, walkout, whatever.......and replacement players came in.
Marty was our HC. We went 2 and 1 w/those guys. We were so well-coached and I remember the coaching staff talking about how rewarding it was to coach those guys because of their enthusiasm and how important it was to prepare your team for the games.
I'm cool w/letting the activists walk. See ya...........I bet a lot of current players will come back to the new league if it comes to that. Go ahead and make a stand. Give up your money. See if it helps at all. You are in for a rude awakening.

I’ve got no problem with this. The players have a stake in what happens. If they are willing to put their money on the line I find it noble.

Ah, there it is. Telling black Americans how they should protest. They can protest how they like but that doesnt mean we have to put with them. Let them go sit on the curb and pout. Take their toys and go home. We can get some new players in here who arent so self absorbed.

Ah, there it is. Telling black Americans how they should protest. There it is. Typical hypocrisy- Telling other people not to tell other people what to do, effectively telling other people what to do. Keep doing you, Posh Rocket Spice. (Sorry, you used Spice Girls' lyrics in a post the other day and you're now forever linked in my head) I suppose the protest business is easy money these days. Why do what you're paid millions for when you can take your ball, go home, complain, and get paid?

Went to bed early and just catching up with all of this .... I’m totally in support of using your voice/actions for change. I do wish there was more of a plan in place to do so ... even a list of ideas that they want to change.
Of course, there lies the rub .. how DO you change and what do you want changed?

Ratings have been down. It's surprising because people are starved for sports. I think the kneeling and constant references to BLM turned some viewers off.
I wasn't one of those people. I still watched and have been enjoying the games minus the political rhetoric. But, I love basketball and I wager on it.
The more I think about this, the more I am thinking that not playing wasn't a very good idea. But, it's early and we'll see. I am not so starved I will watch the NBA to any degree.

Uh, they ARE using their platform. That is why we are talking about it.

I agree... I frankly don't have a problem with them wanting to peacefully protest... if the lakers and clippers want to walk that's their choice... though my initial thought when I saw the Cali teams wanted to walk and every one else wanted to continue was... "ok... Mavs and Blazers move on to round two..."
ultimately I think the owners will get together today and put something together to bring the guys back to the court... but who knows.

Thank you, Captain Obvious.
I was speaking of effectively using their platform.
How many times have you heard players from the teams like the Cavs, Pistons, Kings, Knicks, etc [teams that did not make the playoffs] speak about any of this since the league started back up?
Reading comprehension is hard.

LOL You are delusional if you think all the players will leave the league and the money that comes w/it. You are delusional if you don't believe there are many skilled and talented BB players who don't have jobs in the NBA. I say "let them walk," but I know they aren't dumb enough to do that. I wish they would because it would blow-up in their faces. What kills me is they are making this stance and won't utter a word about black on black crime and gang violence. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Kevin love and other players have already spoken out. You keep proving that you’re pulling narratives out of your ass and not paying attention.
Then you suggest starting a new league. and to no ones surprise, you pick two white European players.
And to no ones surprise, you don’t even realize that those two players have protested and walked with BLM during George Floyd shooting and such, and support their teammates.
Your entire viewpoint on the players is completely out of touch with reality.

I think you underestimate and minimize professional sports players. I’m pretty sure the owners do as well. This Is the perfect time for a total boycott. They will be demanding that owners act to clean up policing and law enforcement In cities or they will. They could start their own leagues next year with no capitol and on speculation alone. They could draft their own players next year as they wish. The NBA is losing money big time and contracts are made to be broken. The NFL is next. Just watch.

Perhaps you are right. But, what will change if they don't play? Do you think that will stop some cop from shooting another black dude? Seriously? Do you guys not understand that violence on the part of police has been going on for centuries and that it is not something that just started 4 years ago? You're out of touch w/reality.

Enough is enough...that’s our reality.........What will happen/change if they don’t play? Cities will lose money. Owners will lose money, maybe even their team. Teams will move to cities and towns that have proper police departments not riddled with bad cops. Those cities and towns will profit and grow. It’s really not that hard if everyone is on board,

Seems like when there is a peaceful protest the narrative is what good will it do. Then there are more vocal protest and violence occurs and the narrative is why don't they have a peaceful demonstration.
Is buttcheeks one word? Or should I spread them apart?

Seems like some folks are all about free speech until they hear an opposing viewpoint. Then, the narrative is "your out of touch with reality" and "you don't have the right to express your opinions on the subject." LOL

Just watch. and it would crash an burn..its silly to think its so easy to start a league.. the infrastructure and logistics involved, not to mention the media contracts and advertisement and branding..sorry, but a bunch of whiny millionaires who only contributions to the causes they preach is to pout like they are the only ones that can put a ball through a hoop is hilarious. They have a whole offseason to use their social platforms and celebrity to effect meaningful change, but they think this is going to do anything. Players need the NBA and owners more than the other way around. This going on strike and refusing to play is just going to enforce owners resolve for the next CBA on what players can and can't do during the season. They say one thing now, but I promise the owners aren't happy right now and neither are fans. Its not a right to play professional sports and they signed a contract..its getting out of hand. This isn't my reaction to the shootings but my reaction to how players are handling it. I believe there are systematic issues with law enforcement that need fixed, but this isn't going to change anything. Its going to have to come from alot higher. The best outcome is one where nba, players, and owners work with law makers to fund and promote initiatives that generates real change. What they are doing now is pissing off most of the fan base that enable their salary
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday. -John Wayne

I disagree. If owners don’t demand equality and police reform in cities and won’t do what players demand them to do about it. Then this is the best time for players to boycott. They have a year to organize and dominate the draft of new players who are losing their college years. Their fan base isn’t going to disappear. True fans will support their sports hero’s whatever they decide to do. Without them the existing leagues are toast. Build it, they will come.
