DOJ asks governors about coronavirus orders that may have resulted in nursing home deaths


The Justice Department (DOJ) on Wednesday requested data from four governors on their orders requiring nursing homes to admit coronavirus patients.

“Protecting the rights of some of society’s most vulnerable members, including elderly nursing home residents, is one of our country’s most important obligations,” Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Division Eric Dreiband said in a statement.

“We must ensure they are adequately cared for with dignity and respect and not unnecessarily put at risk," he added.


The department requested data from Govs. Andrew Cuomo (D) of New York, Phil Murphy (D) of New Jersey, Tom Wolf (D) of Pennsylvania and Gretchen Whitmer (D) of Michigan.

Ignore every intelligence agency and report that Russia worked to get Trump elected, Ignore the investigation that proved there is no mass voter fraud, ignore the intel (that allies also corroborated) that Russia was paying to have US servicemen killed .... ignore the factual stuff and instead use the office of AG to lie, manipulate and misconstrue report findings while also initiating these biased politically motivated "investigations"....

Easy there killer. Calm down. I've said multiple times on here that my family is cautious and playing by the rules (masks, etc.). You mean you didn't research my post history before responding in that fashion? Unbelievalable ... do your damn reseach! Receipts! Receipts! LOL

I have both a healthy respect for it and what's going on as well as skepticism around the numbers and what's being reported. I have plenty of anecdotal evidence from people I know who work in the medical industry that support either side of that. Doesn't mean I'm right. I respect what you are saying and your first hand experience as well.

I certainly understand those who have to deal with the suffering and death associated with this virus on a daily basis having a more vested interest in telling us about what's actually going on and having a vested interest why they may be more defensive about it.

Especially in a nation where idiots think their freedom has something to do with risking the health and life of others as somehow being a part of their rights.

Covid is tough on everyone. Health care workers have been on the front line the entire time. That's gotta be stressful. And stress can wear a person down not just emotionally, but physically, as well.

Strange thing is the Nurse friends husband never caught the virus from her. Never caught it at all.

So we won't be hearing from your neighbor then? Maybe it's time you too speak up for those who are dead and will continue to die. Even thought your neighbor is no longer alive to thank you, my guess is that he would appreciate it.

I know of more people who caught the virus and treated at home.

They are fine today.

I know of a family where the Dad caught it, spread it to his wife and 3 kids. He ended up dying while the rest of the family came through it just fine.

Strange virus, very strange.

I get the feeling that you think covid is a joke, it cramps some folks style, cost some folks some money, but for those who catch it and die oh well tough crap. It's their own fault for catching it.

Covid is no joke but living in fear is worse that the disease in my opinion.

Practice social distancing, wear a mask and live life.

If I get Covid I will at least be comforted in knowing I lived life until it ended. I travel to see my children and grandchildren as often as possible. I dine with friends, in restaurants. I got a haircut the day the barber reopened.

As a Christian, I have no fear of death.

After all, life itself is a death sentence.

Who really knows what we will die from?
Killed in a car wreck heading for a Covid test?
Die of a heart attack from sitting on your butt in quarantine for months on end?

As a Christian God does ask you to use common sense. 38,000 people die in car crashes in America each year.

Basically what you promote, using practical common sense guidelines is what the vast majority of Americans are doing. They're not "hiding in their basements living in fear" like so many of you claim.

Then there are those that scream, "mah freedom!", because they feel their freedoms include having the right to infect other people with a potentially deadly virus. Something we never hear you post about.

As A christian I don't fear death either, but I sure as hell am not going to do my best to die an early death.

No, not since the early part of this year. I enjoy few things moreso than fine dining (with a glass or two of a very nice Margaux wine. We have quite a few outstanding places for dinner up here! If you are ever up this way, 40', dinner's on me. I've been to Virginia (Norfolk) a dozen times or so for business and Danville a couple times (we had a manufacturing facility in Reidsviile NC where I consulted for 6 months quite a while back...

Sounds good as I haven't had a Moose steak in a long time.

Want more socially progressive policy - environmental protections, something better than Obama-care if you are going to get rid of Obama-care, the wealthiest 2% paying 3% more tax (gasp) .... then you get the "an enemy of the people and Un-American" crack back.

It's funny ... On the subject of Obama-Care, I think many realise that it's poor legislation because it's got so many compromises in it. Obama was forced to produce this torturous thing because of the unwillingness of the GOP to move on anything. Despite knowing how woeful it's written - Trump still hasn't come up with anything better. Wasn't it one of his top platforms he ran on? Bad as it is - doing something better seems very hard. Odd.

Yes, he claimed he had a better healthcare plan. Better, cheaper healthcare. Then there was this great infrastructure plan to rebuild America and make America Great Again. Now, almost four years later.... Nada.

Instead we have coal ash being dumped into our waterways because "all regulations are bad". Make America Polluted Again.
