This is sad.

Horrible. I see both side on the money. People can't pay they can't pay, but landlords are people trying to make it too and they have to pay mortgages. But I could never do what those deputies have to do. I would never do anything that I knew would result with putting a family in the street. The government could fix this and housing should be a right. And I don't mean everybody gets a mansion, I mean no human should be forced into the street, exposed to the elements, and at the mercy of others to act/help. Temporary and income based housing needs to be made available for every American as a social safety net guaranteed in a bill of basic human rights. Medical, food, Housing, education, clothes, public transportation, and modern communication should all be treated as rights in a new deal style social safety net.

It doesn't matter who is in power or what it cost, allowing people to suffer/die over any of those things in America is just crazy. And if we are no a society that takes care of our least fortunate or most vulnerable citizens, then who are we and what's it all for.

We’re closing in on 1,000,000 deaths world wide. This isn’t going away anytime soon, could be years, no vaccine yet and those anti vaccine nut jobs aren’t going to get inoculated when we do get it.

But no trump wants to withhold funds from large cities that are epicenter’s of Covid who need PPE for schools to open. Pffft trump and his supporters, killing us slowly.

Key model predicts 400,000 coronavirus deaths in US by January

A key forecasting model often cited by experts and used by the White House has revised its prediction of COVID-19 deaths in the U.S., now estimating a peak of 410,451 by January 1.

The model created by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington posted an update Friday predicting an additional 224,000 Americans will die by the beginning of next year.

The model says that as many as 122,000 of those deaths could be avoided with safety measures, including near-universal mask use, but it warns that easing restrictions could cause the death toll to be more than 620,000.

“We all must learn from those leaders of nations where the virus has been contained, or where second waves of infections have occurred, and where swift action has been taken to prevent loss of life,” IHME Director Christopher Murray said in a statement.

Murray warned about governments pursuing herd immunity as a way to expedite the reopening economies.

“This first global forecast represents an opportunity to underscore the problem with herd immunity, which, essentially, ignores science and ethics, and allows millions of avoidable deaths,” Murray said. “It is, quite simply, reprehensible.”

The IHME model is more aggressive in its predictions than some other models. Their update comes just one day after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention established a new forecast predicting 211,000 U.S. deaths from COVID-19 by September 26.

So I'm asking the question, At what future day, would a Covid Vaccine released make you individually, each of you individually, feel "very comfortable" that it was NOT rushed through?

Election day: Probably no:

Thanksgiving, late November,

Christmas day, New Years day a week later.

Martin Luther King day, mid January,

Ground Hogs day: February 2nd.

Valentines day Feb: 14th. 2021

St. Patricks Day - March 17th?

1st week of April, or Easter, or Tax day April 15th.

May 1st. Mayday- 2021?

Memorial day next year, Mid -late May

June tenth 2021?

4th of July Next year, 2012,

Or Even later than that- feeling a full, lengthy, lengthy, trial must be used to feel comfortable that a Covid vaccine wasn't rushed through.

(Oh, for me it's-- Probably Valentines day.)

I think I would feel comfortable with a vaccine when the majority of non-political public health experts say that the data indicates that the vaccine is safe.

** I would not trust a scenario where politicians (whether it is Trump or Biden or some other countries politicians) are saying that the vaccine is or isn't safe.

** I am somewhat less concerned about the "effectiveness" of the vaccine. I am very willing to take a vaccine that has a "unknown effectiveness" if we have evidence that the risk of side effects is very low. This probably is particularly important for mRNA vaccines (like Moderna). The benefit of mRNA is supposed to be a very low risk of side-effects, but no mRNA vaccine has ever been brought to the markets, and the effectiveness is a concern.

Easy, when the science says it is safe, effective, and reliable without taking shortcuts to bolster Trumps re election odds. The date it is ready is the date it is ready. If I feel it was rushed, I will no trust it.

Let's be real - everyone wants the vaccine as fast as possible. Period.

The vaccine developers have a MASSIVE financial incentive to develop it as fast as possible.

MOST realize it has to be 100% safe and no corners can be cut .... and MOST realize that when pressure from politicians is applied publicly to speed up the process when everyone is already committed to a solution as fast as possible - simply undermines public confidence and implies corners might be cut.

So here's a question.

Should a vaccination be mandatory for children in order for them to be allowed to be in school?

Keep in mind...
1. Vaccination could be required 3X per year, so you need a help of a production effort and supply chain.
2. Young children are the most resilient against COVID, it is less deadly to them than seasonal influenza.
3. The vaccine will have been mostly tested against adults.
4. The immunity may become quickly obsolete quickly once COVID-19 mutates in response to the vaccine, likely within the first couple of years.
5. The government is considering granting drug companies protection against civil lawsuits in case there are severe side effects.

Personally, I would like to see a risk based approach to administering vaccinations. With voluntary uptake and emphasis placed on the most at risk populations, including 65 and older, healthcare workers, teachers, and frequent travelers.

Many kids across the country are already in in-person school.

And Covid is exploding in those groups.
