You can prove that when it happens, until then you have no credibility when it comes to all things Trump, no matter how much you love and would do to protect you wife and daughter. You have shown nothing but 100% Trump loyalty, parroting, and devout following. Sickening really, smh.

Nope. I'm not going to tailor my general statements to fit arch's ego or pride. He's trying to bait me and I'm not giving him the satisfaction. They say things about the left and pedos all the time and I've never confronted him or any of them for that. arch is out of line.

Jacinda Ardern kicked ass early, and with a fierceness. She presided over her nation's SARS-CoV-2 protocol which provided the model every country should have emulated.
Kiwis understood her message because she delivered it clearly, and with a sense of purpose.
She did not incite panic, but she:
1. told her citizens exactly what the circumstances were 2. told her citizens what steps her admin was taking to protect the populace 3. informed New Zealanders what they could/should do to keep their country safe.
Jacinda Ardern had the same head start afforded to Donald Trump. She attacked the problem head-on, and asked her citizens to sign on to the mission. Kiwis understood the stakes... and acted as citizens united for a common cause: the protection of us all.
Two different Heads of State. Two entirely different 'crisis management' results for the same existential threat.
Scale and proportion be damned- there are global, existential events that require each and every nation's leader to step the fk up- in a big way- with policies to help the people who constitute his/her governed.
Jacinda Ardern soared. Donald Trump snored.

There is so much hatred in our 2 party system that no leader, D or R, would be able to do that. I don't care if he/she were the most intelligent, compassionate and charismatic person on the face of the earth. The opposing side would be flooding the media calling BS, and having a parade of "experts" say why the leader is harming the country. They wouldn't even consider that the way he's managing it would obviously be what's best for the citizenry. I really think we've reached a point of no return for the Dem/Repub monopoly to effectively run this country. When you talk politics with just about anyone anymore, you hear why they're right, the other side is ignorant, case closed, no room for debate. If you go by the elections the past 2 decades, it's split right down the middle of our population. The power mongers in the 2 parties and the media are responsible for this.

No, the people are responsible for it.
We got too many Americans who don’t take their rights seriously, and we have a government that reflects exactly that.

I've seen people who were decent turn into bigots and trolls. I've see people who were true blue America become fascists. I've seen people I used to respect spew the most insane rhetoric imaginable... all because they joined the cult of Trump. He is a cancer. Yet more insults, labeling, and false accusations leveled by the left. I don't see these types of posts from the right. Yet, it happens multiple times a day on this board from posters who are on the left.

It's a very stark contrast. And yes, Factual: and now with an audio of Trump to back everything up just in case peeps have not been paying attention ! And we still get deflection and posters wanting to whine and play victim. Victim Culture - the new American Norm.

Stunning that any American citizen republican or democrat would not be outraged by what is on tape from trump alone.
Proof positive he lied to all of us.
No dispute. Right there on tape.
trump could have protected the lives of countrymen.
He did not. He chose to lie. Not spread panic is a cover-up for his lies. Attacking Woodward completely irrelevant.
The denial spin or attacking the messenger is pure deflection.
Play the tape. Track what was said along with the timeline.
Direct quotes from the person in charge. Under oath to protect American citizens - he lied and the result is lost lives.
Facts matter.

...is it Victim Culture or Democrat Culture?
It's going to be funny (sad funny, soul crushingly, laugh to keep from crying...) when Jacinda loses her election and Donnie wins his.
I don't like it, but it's not hard to see coming.
People have been playing the victim card in US politics for a long time. There's nothing new about it.
Never take responsibility and blame the other side. It's practically the politicians' creed. Now it's just reached critical mass in the general populace.

What I find ironic, Trump is now lying about his lies and being applauded by his followers who actually believe Trump was trying to make sure Americans did not panic.

Honestly, when a person can see and hear directly from the source. trump.
Exactly what he said and when he said it. Then play all the tape of what he stated along with the timeline. And today see the results in deaths.
What else can be said? How can you speak to those who refuse to believe what they can see and hear?
They are beyond help.

Port, I am a very open minded person. MLK's words of "judge a person by the content of their character" goes a long ways in my book.
Never have I seen anything so clear cut.
Politics for the most part is full of lies and hypocrisy. In any presidential election in my lifetime; I could understand why a voter could vote one way or the other. There are no perfect candidates.
This is not like anything I have seen before.
The clear, cold, hard facts are front and center. Right there in front of your face like a neon billboard.
I would vote for an amoeba over trump. My hope is to never hear or see his face again.

The biggest question everyone should be asking themselves is if trump tried to downplay it for the people......
Or did his precious stock market. Those are two different motivations.

I am not a Trump supporter, but the media coverage on this issue is completely slanted and needs to be identified as such.
The media never points out that these quotes came in early February when the whole world was still gathering information on the virus from China and trying to better understand what was going on. The press had acccess to the same information as the Executive branch and the CDC. If they thought that Trumps statements or any other statements from the government were misleading in early February, then they should have called him out on it then.
The whole criticism is based on an interpretation of small sentence fragments, lacking context, and viewing thing through a lens of what we know now in September. Based on peoples general lack of knowledge on viruses, saying that Coronavirus is "like the flu" is completely reasonable at the time, because it is a family of viruses that most people are familiar with and that likeness helps distinguish it from other viruses like West Nile Virus that spread through other means and produce different symptoms.
In early February, we didn't even have the information from the Diamond Princess Cruise. There were less than a dozen known cases in the U.S. I was booking a vacation for March because I had assumed that this was just another virus hysteria that wouldn't have much impact in the U.S., as I had seen many times before like H1N1, SARS, and Zika. When he shutdown flights to China, I figured he was just using COVID-19 as another excuse to criticize and punish China for trade and political reasons.
Did anybody reasonably expect Trump, of all people, to present sound scientifically supported information with regard to COVID-19's infectiousness and impact at that time?
While it is always fair to criticize the President for the information that he provides to the public, it is not necessarily reasonable. In this case, it is not reasonable because a) He is in no way qualified to discuss infectious diseases, b) your news organization has access to the exact same information that he does, and c) the news organizations are critiquing him with the benefit of hindsight.
The irony of all of this is that the news media, who also has a moral obligation to do its best to provide fair and accurate information to the public, could hold itself to the exact same standard, but they will not. Having access to the same, if not better, information from China, did they ever compare it to the flu? How many deaths did they predict? Could any sentence fragments be harvested from the same news source and be perceived as contradictory? I am sure the answer to all of these questions is YES.
Now to be balanced and provide a reasonable criticism of Trump, As a President, we shouldn't expect him to know much about diseases or science in general. It is part of his job to select people around him that are competent in the sciences to lead organizations like the CDC and NIH. They also need to be people that he has confidence in. In my opinion, he has done a poor job in this respect. For example, he clearly does not highly trust Fauci's opinions, but he also hasn't replaced Fauci with a competent person that he does trust. On the other hand, I am not sure that such a person can be found, because, on this particular issue, is clear that he is so reluctant to support anything that will damage the economy, that he only wants to hear good news when it comes to the virus.

Or did his precious stock market. Those are two different motivations. I'm not sure they are completely disconnected. There's definitely not a direct correlation, but generally speaking a strong economy is good for most citizens. A market crash is bad for most people. I certainly wish that the benefits of a strong economy were more equitably distributed. There's a balance to be struck between restrictions for "health" reasons and not contracting the economy (perhaps catastrophically.) I don't think Trump struck the right balance, but it's not as simple an either/or, straightforward, binary situation as you are presenting it there.

“Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus,” Trump said. “They have no clue, they can't even count their votes in Iowa.”
“This is their new hoax."
^^ that was in february.
please enlighten us. what was taken out of context?
also, reread your entire post. literally nowhere did you address the fact that Trump TOOK it seriously behind closed doors, and decided to blow it off in public anyway.
that has nothing to do with slanted media. you keep trying to make excuses for the president using perspectives thats not even applicable.
for crying out loud, the right keeps mentioning him shutting down china, when the main cause of the pandemic in America came from EUROPE TO NYC.
i mean good god you missed the entire point: Trump KNEW the freaking virus was serious, but decided to drag his ass anyway.
thats not the media's fault, 003.

i love how the right now doesn't bring up H1N1 anymore. that virus killed 12000 americans in one year.
COVID-19 killed 180,000 in 6 months.
and what was trump's response?
"i dont take responsibility for any of it."
"it is what it is."
"I give myself an A"
yea, thats the media's fault alright....
at what point is the right gonna hold trump responsible for anything?
this man was so correct when he said he could shoot someone on 5th ave and still have support. cause even the people who claim not to support him....get on the internet and defend him, despite no credible defense existing.
but we all know the play calls. blame the libs, the media, and now its somehow Woodward's fault for not bringing this up earlier.
never Trump's fault. the POTUS isn't responsible for anything, unless its good.

First off trump has access to more information than the media and general public. He is and can be given information upon request that would never be available to others.
He was informed at the time of the Woodward interview. He knew about how it spread and how dangerous it was. His own words.
He also took credit for closing China to US access. The fact is he was informed by intel and Homeland Security to do so. He then said everybody was against that.
He then told the public that this was no worse than the flu and would go away. He promoted bogus cures not based upon scientific efficacy.
Trust? He knows that Fauci and others on the task force are right. However, he did not want that information given to the public for political purposes. Number one being that it would effect the economy and that would reflect poorly on him an his reelection.
Masks. The media and the leader of the Senate nearly every day expressed the importance of wearing masks and maintenance of social distance. He did otherwise.
Testing. A crucial part of identifying key data and contact tracing. He downplayed it. Why? Answer. It shows mortality rates and other data that again reflected upon his poor performance. No. It was not under control.
Opening the economy. He encouraged states to open when their infection rates were climbing and out of control. He praised those republican states that did. And criticized any who did not.
Every move made with information in hand was done solely to further his reelection. Nothing replaced that priority.
He held campaign rally's indoors in places that were experiencing rising infection rates. He allowed seat tags to be removed to show full attendance. Never mandating masks. When he had knowledge of the dangers.
He lied about children infection rates and promoted schools to open without following CDC guidelines for safety.
What has he done lately? More of the same. Nothing.

He's "unfit" is not an excuse because he has cost lives, lots of lives. He's stupid is not an excuse because he's cost lives, lot of lives. He's trying to not cause a panic... well that's just BS. He is the embodiment of chaos and confusion, he thrives there.

yo the "try not to cause panic" line is freaking gold.
are we talking about the same guy who is claiming NOW that the upcoming election will be rigged and full of fraud?
the same guy who is currently trying to scare suburban housewives into voting for him?
don't get me started over his panic over the migrant caravans. him and his entire cult was in full panic mode over that.
this crap is hilarious.

He's "unfit" is not an acceptable excuse even if true. He's stupid is not an acceptable excuse even if true. He's trying to not cause a panic... well that's just BS. He is the embodiment of chaos and confusion, he thrives and promotes it. I think it's hard to qualify or quantify what impact good leadership would have had on the USA death total. I always feel that focusing on something so subjective gets the topic off course. Virtually any sane person including Trump supporter can accept and say Trump failed miserably with CV-19. I'm happy to stick to that.

What are you even talking about? He's talking about the timing of the release, suspect as it may be, doesn't hold a candle to the actual content of what Trump himself said. You have to be willfully ignoring what's in the book if all you can argue is the timing of the info release. I'll respond to you because you are one of very few posters who is fair. Hell, I don't even know which side you prefer. That's a compliment. Also, I am not challenging what you believe, but do you really listen to politicians for advice on health risks? Who in the hell would be dumb enough to listen to the president, governors, mayors, etc when it comes to a virus like Covid? Do people not realize that their statements are influenced by the economy and thus, their future as office holders? I have NEVER once listened to what politicians had to say about matters that affect my life. Let's face it, the left has been using this virus to make Trump and Republican politicians look bad. Before you judge me too harshly, I will say that if a Dem was president, the Republicans would have done the same thing and certain governors and mayors have been attacked by the right during the Virus. I think people should do the proper research and get information from experts in specific fields, whether it be infectious diseases, foreign affairs, the environment, finances, etc. Please don't trust your politicians to lead you. I vote for the candidates that I think will hurt my family the least. I don't trust a single politician for anything. I appreciate it. Honestly, I'm not really sure who I prefer, these days. I do find myself sometimes reluctantly defending Trump during political arguments. Despite what some would lead you to believe, he has done SOME good things while in office. ... but to your main point.... no, I don't listen to the president and other politicians on their guidance on stuff like COVID... and that's really unfortunate. I don't think that's right. They (politicans... left, right, up, and down) absolutely manipulate the narrative and fudge the numbers however they can to politicize any message to their benefit. I don't think it should be that way because they have (arguably) the best and brightest feeding them data, information. They SHOULD have the confidence of the people to follow their lead given the resources at their disposal. If there's anyone that could've done anything (positive) about COVID, it's the elected leadership. I'll put it another way. I'm a big proponent of accountability, and how leadership (imo) should view accountability. A leader has ultimate accountability over the actions of his people. While the COVID outbreak wasn't Trump's fault (much like how 9/11 wasn't Bush jr's), and while I agree with giving the states' governors the opportunity to lead their respective states through this crisis as they saw fit, it was his responsibility as the top leader to step in and start taking positive steps when things started going south. Instead, he deflected and pointed fingers and sought to further divide. Yeah but alot of other people do listen and abide by what the politicians and health professionals tell them. And if that narrative is not honest and for the good of the people-you have a crap show like what is happening now. Case in point- 2 days ago in a meeting for work-one of our owners lamented that we are still under the telework order from the state of Pa-and he said that he was upset that there really hasn't been any update lately-but as soon as the governor says that we can start working in the office-they will look at restrictions required and start bringing back people to the office. We had a zoom school board meeting about 3 weeks ago and the school board members kept asking the superintendent when she changed from 5 days in school to a flex schedule because in working with the staff, that was the only way the kids could go back to school was if there was 40 to 50 percent that chose to go remote. The board members kept asking whats it really matter-2 of them said that this is not dangerous for kids and they need their social interaction skills and parents need to go back to work-the superintendent said that we only have 15 percent going remote and if you listen to the medical and not the political people-there is a short term risk to teen age kids and an unknown long term affect. and there have already been a significant increase in college age covid numbers-now we will see about middle and high school age.

yo the "try not to cause panic" line is freaking gold.
are we talking about the same guy who is claiming NOW that the upcoming election will be rigged and full of fraud?
the same guy who is currently trying to scare suburban housewives into voting for him?
don't get me started over his panic over the migrant caravans. him and his entire cult was in full panic mode over that.
this crap is hilarious. And even if he was not trying to panic-then why almost 7 months later are there still in some areas issues with testing. Then why was the defense production act not instituted for the production for PPE. Our business for months had women in the office sewing facemasks for workers out in the field. And we are still having trouble finding certain other items like wipes. why push people back to work if you know? Why make kids go back to school? Then why was there a rally in Michigan yesterday where there were 4-5 thousand people and only about 10% had a mask on- you knew-you just don't care

Trump supporters DO NOT CARE what he does. He could declare "droit du seigneur" and they would just show him where their wives and daughters are hiding. ANYBODY that does not see Trump is human scum probably won't be able to recognize his worst traits in themselves.
Just can the BS already! I stayed out of here (most conversations) for almost a week. And I watched you GOPers having cirlce smirk after circle smirk bashing the left. Calling us everything from commie scum to pedos and there were zero ref edits or whoa is me responses from the left. You aren't doing anything grand or novel with your shift to the right, you are just another GOPer voice crying about how bad you have it and how mean the world has been to you... wha wha wha. Dems have every right to say anything they want about GOPers, y'all strapped us with Trump. You are responsible for the crap he does and says 100%! If y'all didn't enable him, he wouldn't be doing any of this. Kick rocks. And call my posts out again and we can just have our own little ALL OUT WAR on here. I so don't like your political new you or true you I should say... Always knew you were a closet conservative. Once again, the left resorting to personal attacks, threats, and insults.
