That's great! Now these places are exempt from knowingly risking the lives of the employees and people they are supposed to be responsible for.

If you knowingly endanger others, they should be able to sue. Period.
BUT suing your employer or a business like it's their fault you caught something that they did everything they could to prevent that... Nah, they can't sue then. And that's how it should be, just like Pelosi said months ago when she put this to bed.

Trump defends claim coronavirus will disappear, citing 'herd mentality' https://thehill.com/homenews/administrat...-herd-mentalityWell, there’s zero doubt his supporters have a herd mentality, but good lord. It’s herd immunity. It’s funny watching the right try to blast Biden for gaffes when trump literally does it every other day.

I don't know man. Seems like a slippery slope to open the door to suing other people when we catch an infectious disease. You must have missed how this worked. That door was already open. What they did was close the door. See, when someone puts their employees knowingly in harms way, they "were responsible". Now they're not. That isn't opening a door, that's closing it. ...especially when those businesses or people weren't the ones that created the virus. Yet when you know it's there and know the dangers, lying about it and risking the health of people by telling those lies holds a certain level of responsibility. Oh that's right, I guess it doesn't.

Don't the governors run their states? Ohio has a mask mandate. And look, some states probably don't need a mandate.
I can only imagine the vitriol some would have towards trump if he mandated, nation wide, mask wearing. He'd be called power hungry, lambasted, made fun of, told he can't make that decision, on and on and on.

I disagree with what you stated.
Remember when he banned travel from china, the place the virus came from? D's, and biden, called him a xenophobe.
Fast forward a bit. The d's claimed he should've banned all travel, international.
The d's and the press attack him for anything, saying decisions made were wrong, racist, etc, then a few months later change their minds and say he should've done it sooner.

Don't the governors run their states? When it's convenient. Trump just held an indoor rally in Nevada that ignore their governor's guidelines. the venue was actually fined $3000 for it. So they're in charge when the president wants to deflect blame away from the fact he refused to have a national plan for covid. Then, when he wants to hold a rally or whatever else suits him, they no longer have a say. It's all selective.

Remember when Trump said he knew that covid was far worse than any flu? That he knew it was airborne? And then lied to the nation about it for months? And to this very day he is holding indoor rallies where most of his supporters don't wear masks? I know, I now. It makes him just like Antifa and BLM who have their outdoor protest while wearing masks. So what does that say?

people called trump a xenophobe, especially when the pandemic that hit america came from European travel, not china.
he was too busy kissing Xi's ass on twitter for the ban on china to be anything meaningful.

No, it came from China travel and when Trump stopped it they went to Europe instead. Just ask Italy. So next Trump shut down European travel. And yes, he was busy, as was the rest of our government, with the Fake Democrat Only Impeachment Process.

Perfect example of what I was talking about.
He was a xenophobe? For banning travel from the place it started. He was mocked and ridiculed.
Then, the d's started saying he should've blocked travel from europe also.
And kissing Xi's butt? Ever hear of the trade war with china? Trumps trying to put the screws to them.........and all we hear is "he's hurting us by trying to bring jobs back, and equalize things."

he should've did the right thing and just banned all travel like everyone else did.
he played games with the bans, remember? when he decided to ban europe, he initially refused to ban the UK.
and please, go look at his twitter feed yourself, since you won't believe any of us on the matter. he's been kissing Xi's ass on how well he's done with the virus, and then he likes to flip flop with criticism depending on which way the wind blows.
oh, by the way arch, our trade deficit with china is now worse than ever, thanks in big part to his dumbass trade war, amongst other things.
trump gets mocked and ridiculed because he deserves to be mocked and ridiculed.
he's the one who called it a hoax. his words, not anone else's.

Eh, the trade war has hurt, no doubt.
A lot of that can be blamed on people buying products from china cause they are 'cheaper', while at the same time demanding higher pay here in the u.s.

When it's gotten to the point that 40% of Americans have less than $400 dollars in case of an emergency, how can they afford to pay more for American goods?
See, we agree that there was a time when Americans should have been buying American products. But we are now at the point where that ship has sailed. Now we need to figure out how to make it possible for Americans to be able to afford to buy American products.
We also need to spread the blame around to other places where it belongs. It was American businesses that decided to ship those jobs overseas. Levi wasn't going broke and Americans were buying Levi. The same could be said for Carhartt and Red Wing boots. All brands I supported.

Another reason is deregulation that actively encourage businesses to go overseas.
Corporations told us they went so they can pass the savings on to the consumer.
Lol, look at the price of vehicles today. Regardless the pandemic proved we need to bring manufacturing back here.
If for no other reason than to not be dependent on other countries in a time of crisis.
If we pay more, we pay more.

Well, you DO have the price of new vehicles correct......and that affects used vehicles as well, no doubt.
Wife and I will never buy a new vehicle again. I know, all the electronics and gadgets add cost, no doubt. But, we won't be spending 70g on a vehicle new.

It's just a weird lie -- like, everybody is going to know he was wrong **before** the election... It would make sense if he promised the vaccine in December -- but the end of October?

It's amazing the number of people I run across that think this vaccine will just cure this whole thing overnight. Vaccine released on Monday, Tuesday life is like 2019. /smh

Especially for the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines.... current "best practice" says that the vaccine has to be kept as low as -112 degrees fahrenheit to ensure that it remains viable. https://www.wsj.com/articles/covid-19-va...ity-11599217201That's obviously possible - but it's a logistical nightmare to distribute 300M doses that way. Most pharmacies don't have refrigeration units that operate to that temperature -- and there are a limited number of distribution trucks etc. that can operate there. They are currently pursuing studies to prove that the vaccine is still effective at -4F, which would allow you to use standard freezers. But this is some of the important technical work that has to be done to do large scale vaccinations quickly.

Plus, I heard somewhere that pfizer\bioNtech will be able to produce about 100 million doses in the 1st year.
That is for world wide distribution.

CDC reverses testing guidelines after report of interference ABC News STEPHANIE EBBS and ANNE FLAHERTY ABC News September 18, 2020 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reversed guidance on who should be tested for the virus that causes COVID-19, specifying that asymptomatic people who have come in contact with an infected person should get tested and quarantine for 14 days -- a change from guidance released last month that said testing might not be necessary for people without symptoms. CDC guidance released in August caused alarm in the public health community that data would give an incomplete picture of outbreaks around the country, and The New York Times reported this week that it was published by the Department of Health and Human Services without approval from experts at the CDC. It said that if a person came in contact with someone infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 "you do not necessarily need a test" if you don't exhibit any symptoms, but that local public health officials or health care providers might still recommend one. CDC Director Robert Redfield has tried to clarify the guidance, testifying this week that it did not mean people without symptoms shouldn't get a test but that they should consult local health guidance and that testing should be paired with other protective measures like isolating for 14 days. The CDC removed that language on Friday, returning to instructions that say if someone has been in close contact with a person with COVID-19 infection "you need a test" and to self-isolate for 14 days, even if the test is negative. Doctors like Thomas File, president of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, praised the reversal and called it a return to science-based decisions. “The return to a science-based approach to testing guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is good news for public health and for our united fight against this pandemic. We urge officials to support the work of controlling this pandemic by following medical guidance of experts in the field," File said in a statement. This week, The New York Times reported the August guidance was pushed by officials at the Department of Health and Human Service and White House coronavirus task force over the objections of experts at CDC. But Brett Giroir, the top official at the Department of Health and Human Services leading the federal efforts on testing, pushed back on that report. “This was a CDC document and we will continue to clarify because I want people to know that if you are asymptomatic you can still spread the virus and we want them to be tested,” he said in an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Friday. Public health officials say that a lack of testing has been a weak point in the country's response to the coronavirus pandemic since the beginning, from a lack of tests to backlogs for results, making it more difficult to trace who infected people have been in contact with. President Donald Trump has said that more tests result in more cases, causing concern among public health experts that he could push to slow testing they say is crucial to tracking outbreaks around the country. He has also publicly contradicted officials working on the COVID-19 response on the timeline for a potential vaccine and the effectiveness of wearing face masks, which officials at the CDC and HHS say is the most important tool in preventing the spread of the virus. Public health experts have expressed concerns that political considerations are influencing the pandemic response and have bristled at reports that political appointees are overruling subject matter experts at the CDC and the FDA. A top official at Health and Human Services, Michael Caputo, recently announced he was taking leave after he made comments on social media accusing CDC scientists of sedition and saying they don't care about protecting Americans, charges the CDC director and other public health officials denied. Caputo later apologized. Officials in the Trump administration have said they were not directed to slow testing and are distributing more testing equipment to nursing homes and other vulnerable populations to help track and stop infections. MORE: Trump's rebuke of CDC director sows confusion on vaccine timeline "The number of cases are going to be the number of cases; we do more testing so we can detect more and more cases. That's a good thing. We want to detect as many cases as we can...It is true that the more testing you do, the more cases you will discover. But the cases are there no, no matter what," Giroir testified at a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing on Wednesday. Any appearance of political influence could be particularly harmful when it comes to a potential COVID-19 vaccine, experts warn. The concern is that people will decide not get vaccinated and that the virus will continue to spread. https://www.yahoo.com/gma/cdc-releases-clarification-testing-guideline-175200566.html

The only people that support trump are the white grievance American conservatives who just finished liking Jfanent’s wack ass meme. Can’t say I’m shocked.

That is funny. But then this false narrative that the virus is being overblown to oust Trump and the death counts fakes and boosted by attributing CV-19 to deaths unrelated to CV-19 has been discussed and largely proven to be false. Hey if all else fails just look at the numbers. But then I am forgetting ... #factsdontmatter - so carry on with the fake narrative. Say it and post it 100 more times because that helps to make it more true!
