With the 1st debate less than a week away, I thought I'd get us started.

Trump v Biden first presidential debate: when and how to watch
The Independent
Oliver O'Connell
,The Independent•September 24, 2020

When is the first Trump v Biden debate?

The first debate between Republican incumbent president Donald Trump and former Democratic nominee former vice-president Joe Biden takes place on Tuesday 29 September at 9pm ET (2am GMT).

The venue is Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, traditionally a battleground state in general elections. The polls are tight, but the RealClear Politics polling average currently has Biden ahead by 2.4 points (46.7 to 44.3 per cent).

How do I watch the first presidential debate?

All major US networks will broadcast the debate — ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox News, CNN and MSNBC. The debate will also be available on those networks’ streaming services online and via apps on Amazon Fire, Android, Roku, and Apple TV services.

C-SPAN will broadcast the debate live as well as on C-SPAN.com and the C-SPAN Radio app. The Washington Post will also stream live coverage.

Other outlets will likely announce live streaming coverage ahead of Tuesday.

Who is moderating and what will be covered?

The moderator is Fox News Sunday anchor Chris Wallace. Moderators are chosen by the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates.

Wallace has announced six topics to be covered during the debate.

The Trump and Biden records

The Supreme Court

Covid-19

The economy

Race and violence in our cities

The integrity of the election

The topics might not be in the order that they are listed, and each will be allocated 15 minutes for discussion. The Commission on Presidential Debates has said that the topics are subject to change due to recent events. Developments in the Breonna Taylor case, subsequent protests, and the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, as well as plans to fill her seat with a new justice, may be included.

When are the other debates?

The second debate will be a town hall format held in Miami, Florida, on 15 October, moderated by C-SPAN's Steve Scully, host of Washington Journal.

The third and final debate will be moderated by NBC White House correspondent Kristen Welker on 22 October in Nashville, Tennessee.

Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Mike Pence will meet in the only vice-presidential debate on 7 October in Salt Lake City, Utah, moderated by USA Today Washington Bureau chief Susan Page.

Looks like trump is expecting to lose the debate is is already starting on making excuses

2020 Election: Trump claims first presidential debate will be ‘unfair'
The Independent
Graeme Massie
,The Independent•September 24, 2020

Donald Trump has claimed the first presidential debate next week will be "unfair."

Mr Trump said in a radio interview that veteran moderator Chris Wallace was “controlled by the radical left” and would not ask Joe Biden tough questions.

“Chris is good, but I would be willing to bet that he won’t ask Biden tough questions,” the president told Brian Kilmeade on Fox News Radio.

“He will ask tough questions of me and it will be unfair, I have no doubt about it. He will be controlled by the radical left.”

Trump insisted he had “a lot of respect” for Wallace and a good relationship with his father, Mike Wallace.

Mr Kilmeade was quick to push back against Mr Trump’s accusations about his Fox News colleague.

“Mr President, I will tell you for sure, he is not controlled by anyone,” said Mr Kilmeade.

“We’ll see. Then he’s got to ask tough questions of Biden,” Trump said.

Mr Wallace will moderate the first presidential debate in Cleveland, Ohio, on Tuesday.

Both candidates will be asked questions on their records, the coronavirus, the Supreme Court, the economy, race and violence in US cities, and election integrity.

Trump appeared to try and lower expectations of his performance, insisting that Mr Biden had a significant advantage.

“No, I think I am the one without experience. I have just been doing this for a few years. He has been doing this for 47 years plus,” said Mr Trump.

“I mean, he has a tremendous advantageous really, if you think about it, but I have a much better record than he does.”

"Success" is going to be a bit odd to measure -- because I think that this election (and thus this debate) is really about turning out your base, rather than winning moderates.

+ There just aren't many moderates left. People either despise Trump or love him. The extreme stability of the polls is testament to this.

+ Voting is going to be weird this year, in the age of Corona. Mail in voting is up, early voting is up. Threats of violence are up. The uncertainty in turnout seems much bigger than in previous years.

We'll see what they think after listening to Biden and Trump speak extemporaneously.

First question to Joe: Joe, are you comfortable?

Joe, with his steely, narrowed eyes: Well, I mean, I'm here in the basement (aside: Joe, no, you aren't) I mean, corn pop was a bad dude, and I had a length of chain and, while wearing a mask, Ronald Trump, and, I mean, Russia, and, you know the deal, but......oh, I'm out of time."

Mr. president, your first question: Can you explain quantum physics in 12 words or less.

I have no reason to expect that he won't. But we can certainly discuss afterwards.

A stable genius could answer that in 10 words or less. What’s the problem?

Go ahead and keep lowering the bar for Biden. It already backfired once for Trump, and now we see them trying to praise Biden before the debate because they failed in trying to cast him as a mentally unfit person.

ESPECIALLY when the country isn’t ignoring the massive amount of gaffes from trump.

I fully expect gaffs from Biden - mega lies and bully tactics from Trump: talking over Biden, not yielding his time, stomping around the stage when Biden is talking.

Each side will point to the flaws exhibited by the other and say their candidate is less flawed.

Unless there is a major revelation, I doubt they mean much. By now, pretty much everyone has made up their minds. I think!

I sure wish they'd allow instant fact checking. Pretty sure the Trump camp would never allow that.

Another thing about the debates (especially this year):

Already - 600k ballots have been received by states that allow early voting.

https://electproject.github.io/Early-Vote-2020G/index.html

Presumably this is a few days behind "ballots that have already been mailed" -- and maybe 1.5M or so people have voted already.

In key battlegrounds like Arizona/Florida/NC, only 20-30% of people plan to vote on election day:

https://twitter.com/AshleyKirzinger/status/1309540596982321152

A lot of votes are going to be locked in before the debates even occur.

Living in a world where asking the president hard questions is a cause to consider it a bad thing and "not being fair".

No.

Living in a world where 1 person is asked tough, loaded questions while the other person is tossed softballs is a bad thing, and not fair.

Need I show videos of Biden, reading a question from a board........his team put together for him, then reading from the teleprompter to answer it?

"Will you accept the results of the election?" is supposed to be the softball question.

Hey, did you know Joe's first wife, and his daughter, died in an accident caused by a drunk semi driver? Well, as sad as the deaths were..............there wasn't a drunk semi driver, regardless of what Joe said for years.

That would be awesome. Maybe corn pop will be there?

Maybe Joe will tell us a story about the drunk semi driver that killed his wife and daughter? Wait, that didn't happen, did it.

But yeah, we'll see Tuesday night, won't we.

40 plus years in office, and 8 as vp, and what's he accomplished?

Maybe he'll go all John Kerry on us and tell us how he was for rioting and looting before he was against it.

Maybe Joe will be slurring his words as he usually does these days. Who knows.

I bet we'll get a boatload of him riding Obama's coat tails though.

Biden isn't our president and can you show me where Chris Wallace has asked Biden softball questions? Because the assertion is it won't be fair because Chris Wallace is the moderator. Try and keep up better arch.
