It's funny - he claimed he didn't know David Duke either, when asked about David Duke. There was a lot of evidence to the contrary. He barely knows all the people who were once close to him who are later arrested and charged. And you think that line exonerates him ... smh

President Trump on Wednesday tried to clear up confusion after telling the right-wing men’s group the Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by,” during the first presidential debate, saying he didn’t know who the group was but they should let law enforcement do their job.

“I don’t know who the Proud Boys are. I mean, you’ll have to give me a definition because I really don’t know who they are,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “I can only say they have to stand down and let law enforcement do their work.”

Biden interrupted, calling Antifa “an idea, not an organization.”

Trump fired back saying, “Oh you’ve got to be kidding.”

“When a bat hits you over the head that's not an idea,” Trump said. “Antifa is bad.”

Hmmm, wow...the polarity...

Yeah, Trump looked like an idiot last night, but...

Nobody goes on for pages regarding Biden NOT condemning Antifa? The group currently rioting and burning down businesses across the country!

Or NOT answering the question about stacking the courts? Name one president who didn't appoint a supreme court justice when the opportunity arose? Name one who said it should be up to the next president elect? LMFAO!

Does anyone NOT wonder about the one sidedness of the mass media? How they are all saying EXACTLY the same thing? The collaboration that takes? The timing of the NYTimes Trump tax report and Biden releasing his 2019 returns two days before the debate? Nobody questions this?

How Wallace lobbed softballs at Biden along the same rhetorical lines last night?

How all but one media organization is disregarding the HISTORICAL middle east peace treaties signed recently, the indictments on the Obama-Biden administration for spying on and interfering with the Obama to Trump transition of power? The falsification of search warrants? And yet they are pressing Trump on what he will do if he loses?

How Biden didn't deny his intent to socialize healthcare...wonder how that will work out for y-all? Geez, my health care insurance premiums TRIPLED after Obama care was passed, how did you all fare? Not only that, the quality of care declined also, for example, it took eight fricken years for the "Obamacare empowered" insurance company medical review boards to approve the tests needed to diagnose my daughters epilepsy...EIGHT YEARS to approve a multi-day EEG! She was having TWENTY seizures a day!!! Only after the head of neurology at our hospital argued with the medical review boards on my daughters behalf did they finally approve it...

Oh, and the RIGHT TO DENY PRE_EXISTING CONDITIONS WAS GIVEN TO INSURANCE COMANIES BY OBAMACARE!!! Not by Trump...

I hope you all get what you want from the election results...whatever that may be...I for one am very concerned about the looming fall of the longest standing democracy in the history of the world...think long and hard about what you vote for in a month! You won't be able to undo it...

In the mean time, maybe you should look for some alternative news sources to gain some additional perspective, maybe the BBC, who might not have a political agenda here BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!

GOP Sen. Tim Scott calls for Trump to correct his Proud Boys comments: 'If he doesn't correct it, I guess he didn't misspeak'

Brendan Morrow
,The Week•September 30, 2020

Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) is calling for a correction from President Trump after he refused to condemn white supremacists and told the Proud Boys to "stand by" during the first 2020 presidential debate.

Scott, the only Black Republican in the U.S. Senate, reacted Wednesday to Trump during Tuesday's presidential debate not condemning white supremacists when asked to do so and telling the Proud Boys, a far-right extremist group, to "stand back and stand by." Scott said he believes Trump "misspoke" but that he should correct the remarks.

"I think he misspoke in response to Chris Wallace's comment," Scott said, per CNN. "He was asking Chris what he wanted to say. I think he misspoke. I think he should correct it. If he doesn't correct it, I guess he didn't misspeak."

When Wallace asked Trump during the debate if he would be willing to condemn white supremacists and tell them to "stand down," Trump said he's "willing to do" so. But Trump then asked Wallace "who would you like me to condemn," and when former Vice President Joe Biden suggested the Proud Boys, Trump said, "Proud Boys, stand back and stand by."

Trump campaign press secretary Hogan Gidley on Wednesday told CNN the Proud Boys is a "reprehensible group" and that Trump wants them "to get out of the way." Trump, however, has yet to offer a clarification of his remarks, and White House Communications Director Alyssa Farah told Fox News there isn't "anything to clarify" about what he said.

Trump faced criticism for his failure to specifically condemn white supremacy and the Proud Boys including on Fox News, and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who helped the president prepare for the debates, on Wednesday told Good Morning America that "the next opportunity" Trump has to "clarify that answer," he "should do that."

People are looting, rioting, vandalizing, burning in the name and guise of Antifa and BLM. All the lefty sad sacks support that, including Biden. The pitiful dem governments in the burning cities are ok with their cities burning. Because its ok if peoples lives are destroyed if it fits lefty objectives.

Maybe you should think about that for a while. The government does not care about your life or your property if your destruction helps their political gain. Chilling isnt it.

The sensible people know you leftys are disgusting human beings who prop up evil for the sake of furthering your political agendas. This is why Trump will be re-elected. Because we see through your evil.

Eve, why are you so angry?

No need to answer as the reasons are likely too personal. I truly hope you can find some inner peace. And I truly hope it is just this issue and not some pervasive darkness coming at you.

If you need to talk to someone and don't feel comfortable sharingwith those close to you, I'd suggest contacting Ytown. It just feels like he is the person you should talk to about this. Plus I know he is a good guy and would be able to provide good advice on most things but he would bea sympathetic ear

Honestly I think you need to get some alternative news feeds. Even if you do it to check that this is really how you feel. And I don't mean left leaning sources ... I mean go to the most center/neutral sources you can.

If the Dems win, and Trump actually steps down/out of office, the world will still turn, the sun will still come up, America will still be America with American values, no matter what the Alt Right media wants to suggest.

Pretty sure they changed the logo there after the debate as was mentioned in multiple of the articles quoted in this thread. And why wouldn't they? It was bound to be a hot topic and will direct traffic to their messed up group.

I'm also a little confused about what definitions of "stand back" and "stand by" people are using. Neither of those are calls to action. Yes, one extremist interpreted them that way, but he's not exactly rational, nor are a lot of the other members of his group.

It just feels like people on both sides heard what they wanted to hear rather than what was actually said.

There are plenty of reasons to want Trump out of office. Trying to twist this into Trump inciting violence is another example of all that is wrong with the media and politics.

I'm sure people will start saying "stand by" is a dog whistle now. Maybe, they're right, but only because the left made it one with the media blow up.

I swear some people seem to want to polarize things as much as possible. Then they act like they don't understand the resulting violence.

I read post like yours and others, and I realize how right my wife was when she described Germany descended into nazism.

Dudes like you who are completely oblivious to reality, claiming everyone is overreacting, whining about both sides, and making excuses for everything.

And there’s so many fence riders just like you in this country.

I tried to tell my wife that our country isn’t like that, and yet at every turn, I end up being completely wrong.

Your constant display of indifference and gullible mentality is exactly why this country is where it’s at today:

A crap show. Filled with a bunch of dudes who seem to not understand ANYTHING unless its right there in your face, and even then you’ll question it.

I’m so sick of standing up for a country filled with people who refuse to do it themselves. All the president had to do was denounce them. That’s it. He couldn’t do it, and then the apologist like you come out and claim people are twisting things.

I don’t even know what to tell my wife and kids about this country. Other than there will always be large portions clowns who excuse racism in this country because they don’t actually pay attention to the world around them.

The majority of the media and many supporters of the left make a big deal about Trump telling the Proud Boys to stand down and stand by, but pretty completely ignore stories where cops are being attacked by all those "peaceful protestors." Can you imagine the uproar if a Proud Boy member would have done something like this?

Internal document shows Trump officials were told to make comments sympathetic to Kyle Rittenhouse

In prepping DHS officials for questions about Rittenhouse, the document suggests they say he took a gun to Kenosha "to help defend small business owners."

WASHINGTON — Federal law enforcement officials were directed to make public comments sympathetic to Kyle Rittenhouse, the teenager charged with fatally shooting two protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, according to internal Department of Homeland Security talking points obtained by NBC News.

In preparing Homeland Security officials for questions about Rittenhouse from the media, the document suggests that they note that he "took his rifle to the scene of the rioting to help defend small business owners."

Another set of talking points distributed to Homeland Security officials said the media were incorrectly labeling the group Patriot Prayer as racists after clashes erupted between the group and protesters in Portland, Oregon.

It is unclear whether any of the talking points originated at the White House or within Homeland Security's own press office.

Rittenhouse, 17, supported Trump and police on his social media pages before he traveled from his home in Antioch, Illinois, to Kenosha on Aug. 25 with an AR-15-style rifle, authorities said. Rittenhouse was arrested on first-degree murder charges and is fighting extradition to Wisconsin. His attorneys argue that he was acting in self-defense.

Three former Homeland Security officials, two of whom worked for Republican administrations, said it was unusual for law enforcement officials to be instructed to weigh in on a case involving a particular group or individual before investigations had concluded.

"It is as unprecedented as it is wrong," said Peter Boogaard, who was a spokesperson for Homeland Security during the Obama administration.

"What strikes me about the talking points is that they didn't call for calm among the public,” said Elizabeth Neumann, who served as DHS's assistant secretary for threat prevention and security policy in the Trump administration. “Even in the early hours after the incident, it was known private militias had self-deployed. …They seemed more interested in Rittenhouse's reputation than calling for calm and actual law and order.”

Neumann, who left the Trump administration in April, recently endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden for president.

The Rittenhouse talking points also say, "Kyle was seen being chased and attacked by rioters before allegedly shooting three of them, killing two."

"Subsequent video has emerged reportedly showing that there were 'multiple gunmen' involved, which would lend more credence to the self-defense claims."

The document instructs officials, if they are asked about Rittenhouse, to say they are not going to comment on an ongoing investigation and to say that "what I will say is that Rittenhouse, just like everyone else in America, is innocent until proven guilty and deserves a fair trial based on all the facts, not just the ones that support a certain narrative. This is why we try the accused in the court of law, not the star chamber of public opinion."

Officials were instructed to bring conversations back to the need to preserve law and order: "This is also why we need to stop the violence in our cities. Chaotic and violent situations lead to chaotic, violent and tragic outcomes. Everyone needs law and order."

Asked for comment, a spokesperson said Homeland Security "does not comment on alleged leaked documents."

Trump has expressed sympathy for Rittenhouse, saying it appeared that he was "trying to get away from them," referring to the protesters he is accused of having fatally shot.

Despite the talking points, Homeland Security officials have not gone as far to support Rittenhouse. Ken Cuccinelli, the official performing the duties of deputy Homeland Security secretary, said on Twitter after the shooting that the Rittenhouse case shows "the complexities involved in an investigation and why it can take some time to reach conclusions."

By contrast, Trump and other officials in his administration have been quick to blame left-wing extremists. Acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan has repeated Trump's claim that organized black-clad members of "antifa" were being flown to protests across the country to incite violence.

In Tuesday night's debate, Trump refused to condemn white supremacy and instead blamed left-wing groups.

"The Proud Boys," said Trump, referring to a right-wing group that has rallied in his support and against anti-racism protesters. "Stand back and stand by."

"But I'll tell you what, I'll tell you what, somebody's got to do something about antifa and the left, because this is not a right-wing problem," he said.

Far-right ‘boogaloo boys’ linked to killing of California law officers and other violence

By Richard Winton, Maura Dolan, Anita Chabria

In the wake of the killing of two law enforcement officers in Northern California, more attention is being directed to the “boogaloo” movement, a far-right fringe group that has been tied to violence around the country.

On Tuesday, federal law enforcement officials announced they were charging Air Force Sgt. Steven Carrillo, 32, and suspected accomplice Robert A. Justus Jr., 30, in the May 29 shooting death of a federal security officer in Oakland.

Carrillo also faces state charges in the June 6 killing of a Santa Cruz sheriff’s deputy.

Belligerent Trump debate performance stokes fears among Republicans about November
By

The aftermath of the first presidential debate between President Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden triggered a reckoning among Republicans on Wednesday about the incumbent’s incendiary remarks on white supremacy and his baseless claims of electoral fraud, with GOP officials privately expressing alarm about the fallout with key voters as the president’s allies argued that he electrified his core supporters.

Biden, who launched a train tour through the battlegrounds of Ohio and Pennsylvania, continued to pitch himself as a champion of working-class voters and saw Democrats rally around what they view as Trump’s threat to American democracy.

But few Republicans voiced outrage in the wake of Trump’s norm-shattering spectacle in Cleveland on Tuesday, including his statement that the extremist Proud Boys, a male-only far-right group known for street violence, should “stand back and stand by.” Responses ranged from silence to muted criticism, reflecting how the GOP remains convinced that an alliance with Trump and his voters is crucial for its survival.

But hewing too close to him is also seen as a mistake by some Republicans, particularly for those who wish to court moderates and independent voters.

“There was fault on both sides,” Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), who is facing a tough reelection contest, told reporters on Wednesday. “The interrupting on both sides, the name-calling was very unbecoming for a presidential debate.”

Asked if it was a mistake for Trump not to condemn the Proud Boys and white supremacists, Collins said, “Absolutely.”

Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), the lone Black Republican in the Senate, said he believed Trump “misspoke” and “should correct it.”

“If he doesn’t correct it, I guess he didn’t misspeak,” Scott said.

The president told reporters Wednesday afternoon that he is unfamiliar with the Proud Boys group — which has white supremacist ties and sometimes employs nationalist rhetoric — despite seeming familiar with them on Tuesday night.

“I don’t know who the Proud Boys are,” Trump told reporters. “I mean, you’ll have to give me a definition, because I really don’t know who they are. I can only say they have to stand down. Let law enforcement do their work.”

Trump’s comments did little to encourage Republicans about the political turbulence they face in the final stretch of the campaign as Trump seizes on matters of race and urban unrest and unfounded allegations of voter fraud.

“This election is drifting toward what feels like a blowout [victory for Biden], and there needs to be some type of event that changes that. The debate was a chance to change the direction, and while it might be too early to be seen, there is no real reason to believe it was a game-changer,” said Brendan Buck, a former top adviser to the past two Republican House speakers, Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin and John A. Boehner of Ohio.

Former senator Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), a Trump critic who stays in touch with former colleagues, said the private alarm in Senate GOP circles “is palpable.”

“People are voting already, so they know it’s going to be tough to put forward a new narrative,” Flake said. “They’re more than a little worried because it feels like even if you go in a different direction, it’d be too little, too late. That’s devastating.”

Polling shows the GOP Senate majority at risk with strongholds in the Deep South, such as South Carolina and Georgia, highly competitive. A Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday shows Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) and former South Carolina Democratic Party chairman Jaime Harrison tied as Graham seeks a fourth term in the Senate.

One veteran Republican Senate strategist, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they are working on a Senate campaign, said, “We’re all kind of prepared to be responsible for our own performances and our own words. You’re not going to see anybody say it was a bad performance, but they’ll consider it like Trump’s really crazy tweets. They’ll say, ‘That’s not my kind of campaign, didn’t really see it.’ ”

The strategist added that several campaigns are already deliberating on how to address Proud Boys questions at upcoming Senate debates and are trying to figure out how to deflect the issue and shift to more favorable topics....

I know, I know.... Posters on a message board know more than the FBI. We get it.

So because they're not an official organization, we should ignore the fact that large mobs of people supporting this ideology are looting, starting fires, destroying property etc.?

I see you're still confused about a few things. Let me help you clear that up.

1. A peaceful protestor is not engaging in criminal or violent behavior. Their right to peaceful protest is protected under the constitution. You know, that thing Republicans claim they stand for so much?

2. A criminal does engage in criminal activity. They are braking the law. They need to be arrested and tried in the established judicial system of the United States court system.

3. Joe Biden, who was nominated to represent the Democratic party has called out the criminal element several times. He has also stated they should be arrested and tried in the court system. Despite your rants it doesn't and won't change these facts.

No we should not. And actually nobody is. It seems to be a popular myth propagated for political gain that Democrats ignore the violence yet the person leading the democratic party at this time has called out the violence several times.

You see, one would first have to believe that the only people responsible for the violence is Antifa or BLM in order to call them out by name but anyone who thinks about it should know differently. There are many angry people out there involved in violent and criminal activities. Many not actually associated with anyone but themselves. Many associated with other groups.

I'm not sure what more people expect than the current leader of the Democratic party calling for an end to the criminal activity that's taking place and saying such criminals should be prosecuted. I mean since you are the one who brought up ignoring facts. This is one fact so many ignore to paint a picture that does not exist.

I guess going on record calling out and condemning ALL violence and criminal behavior associated with the protests isn't enough. But then Trump gets a pass for being given the opportunity to denounce White Supremacists (that was the question - it doesn't matter whether he knows who the Proud Boys or not) and he decided not too.

I'm no McConnell fan - but he gave a crystal clear, unambiguous answer when discussing this issue:

“With regard to the white supremacy issue, I want to associate myself with the remarks of Sen. Tim Scott,” McConnell told reporters. “I think he said it exactly correctly and that’s exactly how I would express myself on that issue."

“He said it was unacceptable not to condemn white supremacists and so I do so in the strongest possible way,” the GOP leader added.

It's not hard.

Biden denounced ALL violence. Period. Trump couldn't muster an answer to unequivocally condemn all White Supremacists when given a soft ball question with which to do so. . . . . and we have posters try to walk around that and deflect and justify this.

You see, it depends on where they get their news from. Some places would rather hide the fact that the FBI found white supremacist groups the biggest domestic terrorism threat to our national security. They would rather not cover anything but how "the other side is terrible"! There are two sides to this and neither side is innocent.

Yet you wouldn't know that reading some of the posters on this board.

Everyone committing violence from both sides of the spectrum are involved and all of the violence should be called out. Joe Biden has done just that.

You wouldn't know that reading some posters on this board either.

j/c:

We have people trying to burn down government buildings. Rioting. Looting. Terrorizing innocent white folks all in the name of BLM. Then, people want white groups to not be on stand-by.

There were many who begged folks on the left and organizations like BLM to try and work together. We asked that we unite. We said to not resort to the divide and conquer mentality. We were told that violence was how things get done. We were told that they must fight.

Now, you are surprised that white groups are on stand-by? LOL
