I'm not excusing Trump. I'm annoyed by the constant twisting of things into the worst (or best) possible light by both sides.

Trump is horrible. However, twisting his words for headlines just reinforces the "fake news" narrative that his supporters believe.

Trump is an idiot, but he wasn't trying to call extremist groups to arms. He was struggling to keep up with the clustertruck of a debate with Biden and the moderator talking over each other (which is a problem all of its own...the struggling to keep up.) They supplied the Proud Boys name and "stand _____" framework (they used stand down) which he regurgitated in slightly scrambled form.

Is Trump a nefarious mastermind or a bumbling word salad tosser? I lean towards the latter.

Again, its the extreme polarization that bothers me. I get it that violence/extremism sells media-wise (politics as well). It gets people fired up. Unfortunately, getting people fired up can also be a bad thing, and it's been getting worse.

One would have to find these circumstances odd. The director of the FBI said that white supremacist groups are the number one threat of domestic terrorism.

Trump gets daily briefings which include national security issues. Yet during his entire time in office, during all of these daily briefings, he claims he doesn't know who they are?

Yes, there are awful white supremacist groups. But, there are also violent antifa groups. The difference is in their structure (centralized vs decentralized), not their function.

It comes down to the way things are lumped together. All white supremacists "are bad." While the antifa ideology is not necessarily bad, there are "bad" groups with antifa ideology. "Bad antifa groups" don't identify themselves as discrete groups (like "Proud Boys") which makes them harder to separate and track.

White Supremacy might be the biggest terrorist threat as far as number of self-identified people. Unfortunately, with terrorism, it's the ones that are "hiding" (/you don't see coming) that are the most dangerous.

Most likely the FBI is labeling White Supremacy as "terrorists" is because they have militias. Not because they are actually doing anything wrong.
