Perhaps he'll begin to take this a bit more seriously, now that a pretty lady close to him has tested: 'unclean.' _________________________ Trump Awaiting Results After Top Aide Contracts COVID-WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump says he and first lady Melania Trump are awaiting their own test results after a top aide he spent substantial time with this week tested positive for COVID-19. “Whether we quarantine or whether we have it, I don’t know,” Trump said during a call-in interview with Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity on Thursday night. “I just went for a test and we’ll see what happens." Trump made the comments following news that Hope Hicks, one his closest aides, tested positive for the coronavirus after spending time in close proximity to him this week. Hicks, who serves as counselor to Trump and traveled with him to a rally Wednesday, tested positive Thursday, according to an administration official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss private health information. She is the most senior White House official to test positive so far. Trump said he expected to have the results back either Thursday night or Friday morning. The White House had not responded earlier to multiple questions about the last time Trump was tested and whether he and other staffers who spent time with Hicks in recent days will be asked to quarantine. Trump traveled to New Jersey Thursday for a fundraiser. His social media director Dan Scavino and press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, who were originally set to join him on the trip, were replaced at the last minute by other aides. The positive test is yet another reminder that the virus continues to spread, even as Trump has tried desperately to pretend it no longer poses a danger. Since the beginning, he, the White House and his campaign have played down the threat and refused to abide by basic public health guidelines — including those issued by his own administration — such as wearing masks in public and practicing social distancing. Instead, Trump has continued to hold campaign rallies that draw thousands of supporters. The virus has killed more than 200,000 Americans and infected more than 7 million nationwide. In a statement, White House spokesman Judd Deere said the president "takes the health and safety of himself and everyone who works in support of him and the American people very seriously.” “White House Operations collaborates with the Physician to the President and the White House Military Office to ensure all plans and procedures incorporate current CDC guidance and best practices for limiting COVID-19 exposure to the greatest extent possible both on complex and when the President is traveling,” Deere said. Hicks traveled with the president multiple times this week, including aboard Marine One, the presidential helicopter, and on Air Force One to a rally in Minnesota Wednesday, and aboard Air Force One to Tuesday night's first presidential debate in Cleveland. Hicks is one of the president's most trusted and longest-serving aides, having worked as spokesperson for his 2016 campaign. She originally served as White House as communications director, and re-joined the administration this year as an adviser ahead of the election. Her positive test was first reported by Bloomberg News on Thursday evening. She did not respond to a request for comment. Multiple White House staffers have tested positive for the virus, including Katie Miller, Vice President Mike Pence’s press secretary, national security adviser Robert O'Brien, and one of the president's personal valets. After earlier positive cases close to the president, the White House instituted a daily testing regimen for the president’s senior aides. Anyone who will be in close proximity to the president or vice president is also tested every day, including reporters. While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that people who have been in close contact with someone with COVID-19 quarantine for 14 days, White House staffers are considered essential workers. CDC's guidelines for exposed essential workers allows them to return to work if they take precautions, including taking their temperature before going into work, wearing a mask at all times and practicing social distancing. this thing is real. ___________________ Please, people: no one is safe from This Thing. Thank you, jfanent.
Hope Hicks tested positive for SARS/CoV-2.
Hope Hicks is zero degrees of separation removed from the most influential human being on Planet Earth... and she has tested positive for The Thing That Threatens Us All.
This cuts deeper, and is more than a series of talking points among posters at a football fansite. It is more than a point/counterpoint debate of ideology.

Okay.......I get insulted easily. However, what does that have to do w/hoping that certain people are the first to go?
I mean, we had Portland saying that he hoped folks that his dad's age would die. Now, we have Clem saying people who don't agree w/him on Covid die. You tell me............what is good about that?
Good God! Y'all have completely lost your moral senses. I will NEVER lower myself to wish death upon groups of people due to their political preferances. For example, I can't stand your ass.........but I would never hope that anything bad happens to you.
You guys disgust me.

And here I thought you loved me. I wouldn't wish death on you either Vers. But that doesn't mean I never have that feeling towards people and I often express it. In Clem's defense, he is talking about others who are willing to risk the lives of many other people for their beliefs or right to be stupid... screw those people.

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump test positive for Covid-19 By Kaitlan Collins, Betsy Klein, Jim Acosta and Paul LeBlanc, CNN Updated 1:01 AM ET, Fri October 2, 2020 link (CNN)President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump tested positive for coronavirus, the President announced early Friday morning. "Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!" Trump tweeted shortly before 1 am Friday. The President had said earlier in the night that he planned to quarantine. "Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for Covid 19. Terrible! The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!" Trump tweeted Thursday night. Hicks has traveled with the President multiple times recently, including to the debate in Cleveland on Tuesday, and was seen boarding Marine One, along with several other of the President's closest aides -- Jared Kushner, Dan Scavino and Nicholas Luna -- none of whom wore masks, on Wednesday as Trump was heading to a campaign rally in Minnesota. "She did test positive, I just heard about this. She tested positive. She's a hard worker. Lot of masks, she wears masks a lot but she tested positive. Then I just went out with a test. I'll see -- you know, because we spent a lot of time -- and the first lady just went out with a test also. So whether we quarantine or whether we have it, I don't know," Trump said during a call-in appearance on Fox News' "Hannity." He added, "I just went for a test and we'll see what happens, I mean, who knows. ... I spent a lot of time with Hope and so does the first lady, and she's tremendous." While it's unclear what the President's "quarantine process" will look like, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines state that a 14-day quarantine should take place after the last known exposure to someone who has tested positive for Covid-19. This is because the incubation period for the novel coronavirus can be up to two weeks. News of Hicks' positive test comes amid continued efforts by the Trump administration to blatantly disregard science and best public health practices during the pandemic, with West Wing staff actively eschewing masks and the President defying recommendations from his own coronavirus task force, proceeding with a busy schedule of packed campaign ralies. Trump and his key aides have shown little interest in changing practices of his staff to meet the needs of the moment. Trump, in his Fox News interview, speculated that Hicks could have contracted the virus from an interaction with a supporter. "She's a very warm person. She has a hard time, when soldiers and law enforcement comes up to her, you know, she wants to treat them great, not say, 'Stay away, I can't get near you.' It's a very, very tough disease," he said. A source close to Hicks told CNN that she is experiencing symptoms and is back in Washington. A source familiar with Hicks' symptoms describes her as being achy and feeling pretty bad. CNN has reached out to Hicks for comment. "The President takes the health and safety of himself and everyone who works in support of him and the American people very seriously," White House spokesman Judd Deere told CNN in a statement when asked about the level of contact between Hicks and Trump. The White House made no mention of Hicks by name, nor did it confirm she had tested positive. "White House Operations collaborates with the Physician to the President and the White House Military Office to ensure all plans and procedures incorporate current CDC guidance and best practices for limiting COVID-19 exposure to the greatest extent possible both on complex and when the President is traveling," Deere added. Some White House staffers who were in close proximity were notified of the positive test result today, one official said. This development was first reported by Bloomberg News. Long seen as a stabilizing force on a boss who likes chaos, Hicks joined the Trump Organization working in public relations with Ivanka Trump and moved to Trump's 2016 presidential campaign early in the race. She was one of the few aides to follow him from his political beginnings to the White House. Hicks maintained a close relationship not just with the President but also with members of his family, including White House advisers Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner. She previously served as the White House communications director. Hicks' positive test underscores the unique challenge White House staffers face as they try to keep the pandemic out of the West Wing while the President pushes to reopen the country. In May, two White House staffers, including a member of the Navy who serves as one of Trump's personal valets, tested positive for the virus, and in July a cafeteria employee on the White House grounds tested positive as well. The President confirmed a fourth positive case on White House grounds last month. Trump has previously expressed concern that aides contracting coronavirus would undercut his message that the outbreak is waning and states should accelerate reopening, according to a person who had spoken with him. The White House has since gone to great lengths to shield Trump and Vice President Mike Pence from the outbreak, even as they travel to states where cases are surging. White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany previously described Trump as the "most tested man in America," who doesn't risk spreading the virus to others. But Trump contradicted that claim hours later, saying he doesn't know of a time he's taken more than one coronavirus test in a day. "I don't know about more than one," Trump responded to a reporter who asked why he was tested more than once a day. "I do probably on average a test every two days, three days, and I don't know of any time I've taken two in one day, but I could see that happening." This story has been updated with additional developments on Thursday night and Friday morning. CNN's Paul LeBlanc contributed to this report.

Just thinking about this while the talking heads ramble on MSNBC. Trump may have exposed Biden and Pence due to close contact. In the case that Trump is incapacitated, Pence would be sworn in temporarily. But he could easily be sick too which would put Pelosi in the big chair. Another scenario could play out if Trump or Biden were to be too sick or even pass before the election, what would happen then loss by default to the survivor? Or if both were to be out who would become POTUS? Would there be an election and if so how would it work?
I'm not wishing for Trump to die even if I do hate him, but these are serious questions, especially with the state of this country right now.

Some will hope they die, as we have already seen. Others, will use it as a political justification. Some will hope they survive. A few will see it for what is...........which is about a 98-99 percent level of survival.

Not going anywhere, dawg. This BS by Clem and Portland is despicable. And guys like you defending them only proves the bias of the left. Y'all suck.
Hoping people die because they are of a certain age group or because they don't think Covid is the big deal [99 percent survival rate] is freaking lame as hell.
Y'all purposely chose to make me an enemy after I was on your side. Go have a talk w/your pal Rocket about that BS. Good luck moving forward. Because, I am going to kick all y'all asses.

Please show receipts where I state that I want him dead.
The awe was in response to your silly little attempt at a mock through a whataboutism.
Unlike Trump I can denounce white supremacy and I also wish him a recovery. No one should die.

This BS by Clem and Portland is despicable. I assume your post refers to this statement, made by me: If people can't see the existential threat this virus poses to the entire populace, we deserve said virus to eliminate those who live their lives in defiance to science and common sense. I will live, die, and stand by that statement. This has nothing to do with political ideology... which is the only reason I posted this thing in the first place. This is Science. CoronaVirus doesn't care what political ideology Versatile Dog supports/promotes. CoronaVirus doesn't care what political ideology Clemdawg supports/promotes.

Good luck moving forward. Because, I am going to kick all y'all asses. That sounds like a threat. And I've told your mouthy ass to bring it more than once, so shut up. The left. One of their members wishes that people die and the others attack those who disagree w/the wish that people die. You guys are so freaking sickening.

This BS by Clem and Portland is despicable. I assume your post refers to this statement, made by me: If people can't see the existential threat this virus poses to the entire populace, we deserve said virus to eliminate those who live their lives in defiance to science and common sense. I will live, die, and stand by that statement. This has nothing to do with political ideology. This is Science. Viruses don't care who Versatile Dog supports. No Clem, my response was to this comment: I hope you are the first to go. Because as long as you people hang around, our future is in dire peril. I PMed you and politely asked you to walk it back and even said I would shift the hate towards me. You refused and brought up the above BS. Shame on you!

Of course you would try to make this thread about you. It's very on-brand.

About me? It's not about me. It's about people hoping others die.
Look............I'm out. I get y'all will pile on and turn the emphasis around .
I said what I wanted to say and I will say it once again.......not only does it make me sick that two dudes hope folks die, but it's even worse that guys like you defend them and try to act like someone else is the bad guy.
Voting against the Left!

This thread is still young.
I am perfectly content to sit back and watch which posters make this thread become what they want it to be- without considering what I actually meant it to be.
In the fullness of time, I trust that my message will eventually make itself plain in this forum. If not- it will stand as an example of how dysfunctional, and agenda-oriented this place really is.

After all: this is a football fansite, and I'm just a d00d with a point of view.

Immediate Thoughts:
I hope he makes a full recovery — as does the first lady.
I hope he didn’t give it to Biden, or other members of the Biden campaign. We just had a unique cross-pollination event between campaigns Tuesday.
I hope this causes Trump and his supporters to think more seriously about how Coronavirus is affecting Americans. I think Boris Johnson coming out after his illness in the UK really did (for awhile) cause UK citizens to be more careful, and probably saved thousands of lives.
