who won't practice today: S Ronnie Harrison (concussion), S Karl Joseph (hamstring), WR Jarvis Landry (ribs/hip), LB Jacob Phillips (knee), RG Wyatt Teller (calf), DE Olivier Vernon (groin).
Baker Mayfield (ribs) expected to practice in some capacity.

Stefanski said that Landry and Vernon will both likely practice later in the week.

Jeez, their injury list actually looks worse than ours.

Ebron is a big one. We always struggle with TEs.

DeCastro and Pouncey are the only two I care about.

JuJu is a big one as well. I know he's not playing like a world-beater, but I think our secondary is better off not having to deal with his speed.

Both teams are banged up. De Castro and Pouncey are keys

The Steelers wide receiver group is probably the deepest in the league. If Juju is out they’ll just replace him with another stud.

in fact, Juju has kinda been an afterthought ... Claypool and Johnson have looked just as central to their attack

I would plan on every one of their guys playing.

The problem is thier speed. With how banged up a secondary is, i have no clue how we will be able to cover these guys. Both Harrison and Joseph will be out, so basically we are down to everybody's favorite saftey sendejo and redwine. Do we even have any other safties on the roster? Cornerback is thin to in my opinion. We are one injury away to Mitchell, ward or Johnson to being in trouble. Vernon is hurt again and clayborn is still recovering, at this point in his career he is more of a third down pass rusher anyways. Sheldon Richardson and larry obinjobie are both banged up. The only way i see us nullifying thier speed at wideout is to be able to get to ben often, but I dont know that we have the horses to do so

If he has symptoms and hasn't tested positive yet, it is unlikely that he has COVID-19.

They are testing every day, he would have tested positive before showing symptoms.

Hopefully he just has a 24 hour / 48 hour stomach bug or something.

Heck, he could have showed up today with a slight runny nose and been sent home ... let’s hope that’s the case

Put Peoples Jones, and Higgins in as Safeties,

I mean, if they have two more injuries to the current group that's already dealing with 3 injuries, Harrison, Kevin ?, and Greedy.

DeCastro for them and Teller for us would be significant losses. Both had to leave last week's games and I don't think either has practiced this week. Both are important to their teams.

Hubbard has been playing well, but Teller is a beast in the run game and I think we need to run against Pittsburgh. DeCastro being out should allow us to generate inside pressure on Ben and that would be huge because he has been getting rid of the ball quickly and using the middle of the field.

Today’s the big day for practices. We’ll see if DeCastro or our guys are limited

So we’ll be without Harrison, Teller, and Joseph. That’s not ideal

What about OBJ and Landry?

They both seem likely to play.

Baker Mayfield injury: COVID-19 protocols could leave Browns in dire QB situation vs. Steelers

The Cleveland Browns are already facing questions at the quarterback position entering a crucial AFC North battle with the Pittsburgh Steelers. While starter Baker Mayfield is apparently "trending in the right direction" while recovering from an injury to his ribs, he's also been limited at practice this week, suggesting there's at least a slight chance backup Case Keenum could be forced to start against the Steelers and their feared pass rush. Should Mayfield miss Sunday's Week 6 showdown, however, the Browns could be in an even more dire situation thanks to the NFL's new COVID-19 protocols.

Earlier Friday, the Browns seemingly added QB insurance by announcing the addition of former New York Giants backup Kyle Lauletta to their practice squad. A free agent after an offseason stint with the Atlanta Falcons, the 25-year-old Lauletta theoretically would've been a candidate to be called up from the scout team as an emergency backup for the Steelers game. Because new COVID protocols dictate that player acquisitions require six days of COVID testing before entering team facilities, however, Lauletta cannot be activated for Sunday's matchup, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

"Cleveland lost (practice-squad backup) Garrett Gilbert to Dallas on Monday and quickly got Lauletta, who took his first COVID test Tuesday," Pelissero reported Friday. "So Saturday is Day 5 ... If the game were at home, Lauletta could've done his sixth test ... and dressed Sunday if the (point-of-contact test) were negative. But it's on the road, so he can't ... So if Baker Mayfield can't go, they'll have one QB: Case Keenum."

Teams rarely activate more than two QBs on game day, so if Mayfield is, in fact, good to go against Pittsburgh, the Browns won't necessarily be in unique trouble. Thing is, even if Mayfield starts Sunday's game, there's reason to believe Cleveland will be cautious with its starting QB because of the nature of his injury. And any move to Keenum would mean the Browns have exhausted their QB depth chart for Sunday's matchup, potentially requiring the team to prepare emergency reserves elsewhere on the roster.

Seems a bit unfair if you're going to allow a team to poach the backup QB off the practice squad.

We could put Landry and/or OBJ back there. It might be fun to watch.

Your definition of fun isn't the same as mine, especially on the road against the 4-0 Steelers.

I'm worried about our safety's. Crap.
